They were doing these things as far back as the 80's with help from there friend Reagan. And we did nothing. When we did in 1991 we left without completing the job. So how did Saddam get so important in 2002. When we new the money and the terrorist from 9/11 all came tru Saudi.

Many things change when 2000 some odd non combatants die on US soil. Your allegations of Reagan helping him amount to fertalizer or you could be referring to Reagan helping Iraq in the Iraq vr's Iran war but I thought that was in the 70's and it was the right thing to do at that time . Just like helping Osama was the right thing to do when they were trying to make Afgan part of the Soviet Union . You talk of the US not finnishing the job in 1991... wasent do to America but the UN guess you forgot we wanted to finish it back than but the Liberal appeasement crowd put an end to that Idea.
How did he get so Important :

1.Breaking 20 UN resolutions for what 10 years ?

2. Used WMD's on his own people to the tune of 200,000

3. Publisized the fact he will pay $20,000 to the familly's of dead suicide bombers
4. Bribery in the form of Food for Oil program

5. this list could go on for 20 pages

All of which happend between 1991 and 2002 what part dont ya get ??????? Hello ????

Your off on most or close to all. UN resolutions by whom and why.
Some had no reason for war. If so there are many countries even friends of ours like Israel should we invade them to. If U N resolutions are reason it's week. By the way why would a right-e like you call on the U N. Last word I have from the right is. U N can be closed down because they don't know what there talking about. Used WMD on his own people. Number is not know-en. Why because many of the bodies are Iran soldiers from the war in the 80's not 70's. Some gas even came from US. Just think we helped him. The end of 91 war had nothing to do with liberals. Bush 41 said enough and stopped the killing. But forgot to say for us doing that Saddam had to go. Why did he leave Saddam in power. Was afraid Iraq would go in to civil war. A Lesson his son Bush 43 is learning. Food for oil program a reason to go to war is complete B S. In fact most of that info came out after war started. Reason given the American people was WMD and were still hoping some day to find them. And biggest lie was the one about the nukes. The next was they were involved in 9/11 more B S.

Security Council Resolutions Concerning Iraq

Saddam Hussein's Defiance of United Nations Resolutions
Saddam Hussein has repeatedly violated seventeen United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCRs) designed to ensure that Iraq does not pose a threat to international peace and security. In addition to these repeated violations, he has tried, over the past decade, to circumvent UN economic sanctions against Iraq, which are reflected in a number of other resolutions. As noted in the resolutions, Saddam Hussein was required to fulfill many obligations beyond the withdrawal of Iraqi forces from Kuwait. Specifically, Saddam Hussein was required to, among other things: allow international weapons inspectors to oversee the destruction of his weapons of mass destruction; not develop new weapons of mass destruction; destroy all of his ballistic missiles with a range greater than 150 kilometers; stop support for terrorism and prevent terrorist organizations from operating within Iraq; help account for missing Kuwaitis and other individuals; return stolen Kuwaiti property and bear financial liability for damage from the Gulf War; and he was required to end his repression of the Iraqi people. Saddam Hussein has repeatedly violated each of the following resolutions:

This particular resolution is the one that the UN sited and would not let us remove Sadaam from power because the UN voted that it would be overstepping its bounds :
UNSCR 678 - November 29, 1990

Iraq must comply fully with UNSCR 660 (regarding Iraq's illegal invasion of Kuwait) "and all subsequent relevant resolutions."

Authorizes UN Member States "to use all necessary means to uphold and implement resolution 660 and all subsequent relevant resolutions and to restore international peace and security in the area."

So as per usual your making crap up with 0 backup just spewing BS.

WMD's on his own people ....... Who gives a dam about the exact count ....yes their are many conflicting stories on this same as the Holocaust ....who gives a rats ass ? We know for sure he used them on the Kurds we watched it in horror at the end of the gulf war and the liberals and peaceniks in the UN refused to do anything about it ! Do to the resolution posted above .

The US gave him the gas did we ??? By all means I would love to see a creadable link to this everytime I have seen that BS it was shot down because we do have to declare what we send and the only credable source I have seen to date has been fertalizer which did have some dual use and could have possible been used for some chemical agents and would have never been shipped had they know what sadaam was going to use it for .

"Bush 41 said enough and stopped the killing. But forgot to say for us doing that Saddam had to go."

This statement couldnt be farther than the truth fact is he wanted to go in and remove Sadaam the security council voted us down using the resolution above to say that would be overstepping their bounds .

The food for oil program alone was a perfectly good reason to remove him from power and if it isnt than the UN is rendered compleately useless and should be dismantled imeadiately ! Not that we knew this at the time but its still a no brainer !

The rest of your bile ??? ......well I guess you didnt hear GWB's speach ...."your either with us or against us in the fight on terror " show me how you think Sadaam was with us ? Make your Case ? you dont have one do you ? I like a President that does exactly as he said in his speach right after 9/11 he didnt budge from that speech ! Thank god !

Could you show me the resolution where the UN authorized military force to remove Saddam? I mean, those are all UN violations that Saddam was abusing (or not). You would think that they would have authorized his removal (or not). The UN does represent the whole world, just like you said.

As an aside, if you click on [More] under the smilies on the right when you post, there?s a whole slew of smilies that you?re not using.

Thanks Bobby , for the smiles tip !

Now for the answer to yor question :

That comes down to what does the term " Grave consequences " mean ? The problem came in when the UN security counsel refused to act on their own resolutions ....which in turn forced the US and its allies to act on their own so their is no resolution that was put into place to take him out . Leagally the US and its allies were covered on the past resolution to take back Kuwiat because the war was decleared a cease fire . Now after the food for Oil bribery scam was uncovered we should all understand why the UN wouldnt act on their own resolutions because they were being paid off to vote no on the use of force ........now arent you glad they bypassed the UN being that they were being bribed ? ... If not please help me understand why the UN should even exist ?

So if the UN was full of people on the take, then why are you even talking about violations of their resolutions if they're so corrupt? How can you force another country to abide by their resolutions when you haven't been authorized to start the war by the same people? And how can you point out the scam of the Oil-for-Food when there still is no control over the money coming from Iraqi oil and "friends of the family" continue to get no-bid contracts?

Basically, why does everyone else have to follow the rules when we don't?

You don't have to answer as I doubt anything will change my mind as it's already been rehashed here before you came on board. I was very much for this war because of the WMDs; because of the Terrorist training camps; because Saddam was supporting Al Qaeda. I didn't think anyone was lying.

Because we cannot apply what we didnt know in 1990 to what we do know in 2005 is that unreasonable ?

And your no bid contract crap is garbage . Their is a US policy that I believe is called DECAP ...... This is a contract that the US signs every 7 years ..... This contract is to support US troops and the winner of that contract automatically gets all kinds of no bid contracts depending on what need the US military has during the 7 year contract . Over the past 21 years or so this contract has been held by 2 different companys : KBR than AMF than Back to KBR . KBR = Kellog Brown Root IIRC.... Halliburton is a subsidary of KBR an hence why the get no bid contracts funny how they dont publisize the other 100 companys that are part of KBR that get no bid sub-contracts under the DECAP contract ...why ? because Cheany was never CEO for those companys so they cant twist it to make Bush look bad .

This falls under the same BS the left wing try's to imply in the media ,example :

I heard this just the other day once again on AM radio . They make a simple statement : George Bush refuses to release the US Emergency Oil Reserves to help relieve fuel prices for American's

True statement and it makes Bush look like a bad guy right ? Maybe some of you have heard that one I know I have about once every 6 month's ?

Now here's the part they dont tell you :

The US Emergency Oil reserves are to be used in the event of an attack on the US ....its their so we dont run out of fuel if our country is under attack and we cannot get fuel into the country . It is so important that it is protected by the US constitution and the only way the president can use that fuel is to get congress to sign off on a constitutional amendment ! Now can you see the game the media is playing with your minds ?

If you want to feel that bush was lying about WMD's thats all fine and good but that intelligence was collected by some 50 or more country's not Bush !

You can't seriously be unaware of the long history of UN's condemnation of Israel? USA always uses its veto to protect Israel - not that I don't agree with us doing that in many cases.

The UN wouldn't work without the big boys having veto power. Unless some bi-cameral World Congress is set up modeled after the US form - and that ain't gonna happen anytime soon.
