I just noticed that in 2013 I got 4 red cards, 3 from Jack and 1 from IE. What's that all about. Please explain the significance of a red card? How exactly does it work?

Why would it matter if you turned my reputation to negative red? Is there really a downside?
You'll start losing privileges like posting images, using report a post, posting smilies, etc.
