i am just giving live news from the station that covers them, i know he is not going to coach game, just not been said by him or school yet, it will effect the payoff on how it is done with the bowl just like the wvu bowl game a few years ago

I do not like Notre Dame and I do not like Cincinnati, so I hope this is another coach who falls flat on their face there..
#1. Kelly will have a little bit more of a difficult schedule that he had at Cincy.. I know Pitt is a good team and WVU and UCONN are formidable but the rest of the schedule sucked this year.
#2. He still is going to have a much more diffiicult time to recruit with ND's academic standards.
#3. Will the school and fans tolerate a couple years of mediocrity? Hell next year they should plain out SUCK, I know they weren't good this year, but holy shit next year could be flat out dismal..
I don't want this to sound like a bad hire at all, it just seems funny that many ND fans always think that the next coach is going to bring them back to the early 90s.. It's not going to happen.. Those days are over:sadwave:

Agree that it will much more difficult to recruit there than at Cincy, but to your third point about how bad they could be next year - I think that is part of the reason why they went with Kelly because he has not needed more than two years anywhere to turn things around.

don't why you say the days of playing very good football are over for nd....
kelly has been a winner where ever he has gone & i don't see why that shouldn't happen again....& he is a much better hire than weiss was because he has a proven track record while weiss did not....

Ok I see I got some flak for what I posted.. I need to clarify a little bit..
On strength of schedule, I know this year the schedules between the 2 was about even but that is one year. USC down and Michigan down the past 2 years.. I wouldn't expect that to happen over the next few years..
Why has Notre Dame been bad to mediocre of late? The defense sucks!! They haven't been able to recruit a good defense in some time.. What makes anybody think Kelly is?
Unless they lower their standards this team is going to be just a middle of the pack team with maybe a year or two of thinking they are a national power just to get stomped by a legitimate team in a big bowl game..
Look at some of the teams.. They were handed BCS bowl games when Quinn was there... Notre Dame Over rated since the 90s and I don't see it changing anytime soon.
