Garcia sure has some karma in the team competition--believe he is 11-1-2 so far excluding singles where he has losing record(1-2).

While reverse is true on Tiger who is now 6-11-1 in team and 3-1-1 in singles.

Format sure makes it exciting.Don't expect U.S. to fare any better tomorrow in team comp but if can somehow stay in shouting range might have shot in final day singles.

Only one vet on U.S. team with losing singles record-Cink while Euro's Casey-Clarke-Donald-Garcia-Howell-Oly and Westwood all have losing records in singles
--and if you want to extend it to Captains
Lehman was 3-0 and Woosy 0-6 :)

Best-Ball Matches

Woods/Furyk -1.90
Cink/Henry +1.15

After the lost yesterday, I believe Tiger will be pissed or focused depending on where you are. Like JJ and Stewie

Just woke up and checked the Net. Team USA is not doing well. Player Match ups will have to be where they make thier move.

Laeving to go to the Airport, can only hope there is a turn around while I'm gone.

Interesting split between team and singles record, DTB. I wonder how much of the leading Europeans' record is a consequence of being over-used in teamplay during the first two days because of lack of depth in the Euro team. It appears to be other way around this year.

I also came across an interesting stat on player records overall ...

Not a single member of the European team had a losing record in Ryder Cup matches before this event.

Of the American team, four had winning records and four had losing records, but each of those with winning records (Mickelson, Toms, DiMarco, Verplank) had won just ONE more match than they had lost.

On the basis of results so far, only Verplank will retain his winning record.

Bit Hit to the Team USA not getting that Cink/Henry point. Can't believe Tiger and Jim are still together and JJ isn't Playing.

Staying with the Dream Team, Hope the wake Up. Cink is in all of the Matches so far....Just added Cambell and Taylor, maybe some Majic or maybe I should have done what Stanley is doing, just watch.

Cink/Johnson OV/Casey/Howell-1.10
Furyk/Woods OV/McGinley/Paddy-1.90
Campbell/Taylor OV/Monty/Westwo+1.45

Think they took it down because of conflicts with NBC. Not missing much other than the euros just thrashing the americans. Garica has just destroyed the competition. I guess all that smack was backed up. Unlike the super groups we supposedly had.

I seen this coming as this american just are not as close as a team as the euro's. Euro's are mostly smiling and enjoying the event while the americans just look stone faced most of the time. Lack luster effort by the Americans. They need a miracle now.

I have a more positive outlook for Team USA. OK, so all my Plays have been for them, just can't Play the other Side.

The gap has been moving together for the Singles dominace. The crowds have been Great, nothing Ugly, just Golf Fans, this is something I hape Future site learn from.

Going with the USA Players who need to turn it on for the come back. A lot of Juice but no one to lean on except Caddy.

David Toms OV/Colin Montgomerie+1.00
Tiger Woods OV/Robert Karlsson-2.40
JJ Henry OV/Paul McGinley-1.30
Brett Wetterich OV/David Howell+1.55
Chris DiMarco OV/Lee Westwood-1.15

USA USA USA

Sorry about that

"Not a single member of the European team had a losing record in Ryder Cup matches before this event."
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

That would be easy to understand Stan with 2 days of foursome/fourball format and don't look for U.S. to improve in future--They just can't play that format at level of Euro's--I attribute that basically to the (me vs we) mindset of the teams in general and to the format.

The format is condusive to upsets similiar to match play--on any given day-only amplified.

We can forgo world rankings and can go to Sagarins ranking which I find more reliable as you probably do. There are only 5 players that have winning records vs top 10 in his rating time period Tiger-Furyk-Mick Els and Goose.

The 3 eligible for Ryder Furyk-Tiger and Mick are collectly 12-25-5 in 4ball/4some format before this week and it won't improve.
Which would lead me to believe these formats have little indication of abilty but rather reflect mindset of players to format itself.

With that being said do not want to take anything away from Euro team as the Ryder Cup is "The" premier national event that has traditionally included that format.
So thats the challege bi yearly and the Euros have kicked their butt and expect things might not get better as they have some quality youngsters coming up.
As with the pairings tomorrows I would certainly give edge to Euro's in the singles this year also and believe they have fielded the surperior team this year by any standards.
Just my 2 cents :)

Congrats Euro's utter domination. U.S. philosophy needs a complete overhaul. Just don't have the mindset of the Euorpeans IMO. Darren Clarke story is a great one indeed he played superb under the circumstances. All the euro's played great. Enjoy the celebration well deserved!!!!

FINAL RESULT: 2-1; 5.29pts

Europe 1st (18.5-9.5)
DiMarco 8th
Garcia 1st

Very impressive performance by the European team to win all five sessions and led for the first two days by Garcia. He finally met his match in Stewart Cink on Sunday and that meant a tie with Westwood for leading European points scorer, but still a very profitable event.

European Tour ytd: 11-52; -5.67pts

USA demoralized

USA demoralized

I have to admit that I took a beating on the US sqaud this year. Sad to think that if you had bet the USA plus 8 points you would have still lost!! My hat is off to the Europeans and their inspired play.
