Carroll was on 1540 radio and said that a decision hasn't been made one way or another... that Mike's parents are coming into town and they are going to evaluate things. Said that USC and the coaches would do whatever they can to make it a well informed decision for Mike and his family.

I hate Clarett. He has ruined college football. Mike Williams was the most dominating player for USC and now I cannot enjoy watching him play at USC. Williams would have broken all the USC WR records next year. I cannot blame Williams if he does choose to go to NFL and I wish him luck. He was a huge part in turning the program around but I am 100% confident the program will survive next year without him. USC is lucky to have such a talented WR corps so Williams leaving will not hurt as much. In fact I think USC will run the ball a lot more next year. The OL coach said they want to win under 2 1/2 hours so that means smashmouth foots (which I like).

One person who might be pissed is Lienart. Williams would have guaranteed Lienart a Heisman and NFL future. Or maybe Lienart is not so sad because Williams was a contender for the Heisman too.

If I had to guess, I think Williams is gone to the NFL. Although his step parents are very strict and put a lot of value into a college education.

Not good for USC if Williams goes Pro.

He has only a little over a week to make up his mind. Unless he is top5, I don't see him going when he could be #1 the following year. There is that risk of injury that may be weighing on his decision as well. I certainly hope he stays but could anyone blame him if he were a top 5 pick? I blame Clarett and that lame ass judge. Hopefully David Stern is correct when he said he thought the decision would be overturned.

It is a big blow to USC.

They now have lost Colbert (sr) & Williams (so), who accounted for 65% of the Trojan passing attack.

I remember Williams as a freshman going into Kansas State & dropping at least 5 passes. Having a relatively new receiving corp could lead to a loss or two.

Scott-

Have you heard the rumor about Justice. At least one wearesc poster said its a 99% done deal that he is gone too. May not be a great move on his part as in he's not ready physically, but it would still be a blow.

Will Leinart see his chances as being better if he left this year?

The list can go on & on.

Remember, it may be difficult to run the ball when you lose 3 lineman.

I know, I know they have great recruits coming in, but it does take chemistry & playing together to move the ball.

Yes it is a big blow for USC to lose Mike Williams. BUT your foregetting all the offensive talent at USC. Reggie Bush is USC most talented player. USC has 4 5-star WR's on the team right now.

Your also forgetting USC lost both their #1 and #2 tight ends early last season and both were monster recieving threats. BOTH will be back next year.

There are prob. 6 super talented WR's on USC team that are competing for playing time. I am sure CHOW will find a way to use them. all. Remember, USC has an excellent coaching staff that develops players. That is why people were astonished how USC got verbals from JARRET, DAVIS, and JONES all 5 star and 4 star WR recruits and best in the nation. In addition USC last year recruited 2 5-star WR recruits. Simply loaded at that position.

I think USC now runs the ball more which I actually prefer. USC has great running backs, BUSH and WHITE. Bush will win a Heisman but he might go pro next year if NCAA does not change it.

Isn't it a little early for him to be going pro? I think he should stay at school as it would benefit him more & if he continues at his pace, he could easily be a #1 overall pick.

CRAP. I think I would be more devastated if USC lost Justice over Williams. I like OL and DL. I do not think he goes pro. Have not heard anything.

I know, I know they have great recruits coming in, but it does take chemistry & playing together to move the ball.

YOU ARE 100% right. Chemistry is huge question mark. The great thing about USC offense is they hve chow and a great running and passing threat. The USC coaches I know are extremely confident in next years team. VERY CONFIDENT.

I pray Winston Justice OL does not leave. That be much bigger blow than Mike Williams leaving IMO.

Your right. He def. be #1 pick next year and might win a heisman. But Williams is physically mature right now to play in NFL. I think he stays at USC if he is not top 5 pick.

one positive of the williams decision:

it allows it to judge williams and fitzgerals in "real-time" and on the same career curve.

also- unlikely that williams would be #1 even next year. in fact, its more than unlikely, it simply wouldnt happen. i dont think hes near as good as keyshawn johnson was in college, and receivers never go #1 anyways. just doesnt happen, as few GMs want to risk the #1 overall pick on a wide receiver. i could be wrong, but i think only like 2 receivers have been #1 overall in the L25 years. peter warrick was incredible in college, and he was #3. i dont think we need to make a list. it really has nothing to do with talent, its just that teams wont take a receiver #1, period.

I disagree. Williams would be a #1 pick next year. Nobody in college football has been able to guard him one on one. Even when he played hurt on a bum ankle. Williams has NEVER been stopped. Williams would hve even more huge #'s if USC was not so loaded on offense.

no doubt about that. If the missing piece of the puzzle is a running back/Qb/ or DL, that team is gonna take it. You have seen that in the past....

Your right, there are rumors that Justice might be leaving too. WHAT A FREAKING HORRIBLE DAY.

This is going to lead to the end of college football. High School players are going to use major programs for 1-2 years and leave. If this happens, i am sure Carroll will want to leave and go back to the NFL. Why the hell should Carroll work his ass off to recruit these kids and teach them and have them bolt on him. I do not blame these kids leaving because they can. Clarett has ruined college football.

If this all happens and is true, USC NC hopes next year have sure gone south. Not so confident anymore. Glad I hve not put my $1000 bet in yet.

I don't blame Clarett at all. If you have the ability and you think you can make a name for yourself in the NFL, well go for it. Its a one person decision. Hell if you can sign up for the Army at 18, why not the NFL?? Im sure all of us, if we played football and knew we could get drafted preety high, im sure 90% of us would take the chance....

I would think it would make it even easier for Carroll to recruit the best talent. He can use this as an example of why you need to come to USC. There may be very talented people currently in this position or that position, but they may leave for the NFL.

Everything will be fine. Next year will be even more interesting to see how everything works out. I cant wait for 8/28. I already ordered my tickets!

Yes your right, but this makes it a lot harder for Carroll to build a dynasty and win a national championship every year. This leaves you without much time to "develop" players. For you to contend and win NC's every year, your players need to be developed and expected to contribute right away. That simply cannot be expected from high school recruits year in and year out.

It also makes it difficult for Chow to run his great offensive system. How many times will he now have to keep teaching it over and over instead of ADDING plays.

These talented recruits now have no time to develop they must now be depended on contributing. In addition, this hurts the DEPTH chart. Screws everything up what Carroll has been building. Imagine this scenario year in and year out. HORRIBLE.

I think this helps Carroll make the decision to BOLT to the NFL.

LOL.....this is the first I have heard of Williams, LMFAO!!!!!

Clarett is a freakin pud-whack, but if there was one good thing that came of all of this, it is that USC isnt gonna win the NC next year thats for sure....LOL!

This is the greatest thing that I have heard in a long time

I agree Big Tease if its true. I never thought USC would win it anyways they always lose a game (typically a bad game) IE 6 loss team. And now they lose Williams. If he stays another year he has a slight chance of being a top 5 pick. Now they lose both of their WR. Thank god they have a good recruiting class. POOR TROJANS. Carroll probably Sh@# in his pants when he heard. POOOOOOOOR TROJANS I FEEL SOOO SORRY FOR THEM..NOT. :moon: :moon: :moon: :moon:
