WEC, Versus Dropped by DirecTV
Posted by Kris Karkoski on Sep 1, 2009 at 10:53 am ET9 Comments

World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) LogoOvernight, DirecTV dropped Versus, and along with it World Extreme Cagefighting, from its lineup after the contract between the satellite TV provider and network expired and a new deal was unable to be reached due to a disagreement over the terms of the contract.

The WEC had been scheduled to hold a Versus-televised event tomorrow in Youngstown, Ohio, but the event was postponed last week to October 10 in San Antonio, Texas, at which time it is expected that DirecTV and Versus will have resolved their dispute, allowing the WEC fights to air over DirecTV.

Disgrace. The guy fills in anytime the UFC needs him and this is all they can afford to pay him?

Brandon Vera ($70,0000 ? $35,000 win bonus) def. Krzysztof Soszynski ($8,000):scared

You gotta love reading these kind of articles, big fucking deal about the line-movement. Yes the line moved quite a bit, but that does happen. It is a
nothing story about the line-movement, nothing. Now if the writer wanted to do a story about UFC fighters betting on UFC fighters, that may be something.

Considering a ton of em live in Vegas it isn't surprising that they would bet on the fights. If it is against the rules for UFC fighters to bet on UFC events then it is a story.

To suggest Leben "took a dive" is a joke. Article is just stirring shit. If writer knew anything about MMA
line-movement he'd know the line-movement meant nothing. Off the top of my head I can think of at least 10 fights where the line moved more then it did in the Leben fight. Plus I can think of 3 fights where the line moved more then that right after the weigh-in.

Nothing story in my opinion.:nono:

Would like to know if StrikeForce fighters can bet on StrikeForce events, or if DREAM fighters can bet on DREAM events, ummmmm hold on of course they
can. You can bring a syringe into the ring and do your weigh-in in back alley so yes I think you can bet on the event:mj07:

KIcksy nobody is saying he took a dive. The training part is what i was more confused about. Did the guy train at all or is this bullshit? With his performance maybe he didn't train.

I don't have a problem with Silvia coming back. He was the UFC champ. Yeah he lost to Fedor(no big deal) and had a very bad loss to Mercer but he's better than most HWs in the UFC. He put up a great fight vs Nog.

Now the Baroni signing was just sad.

The problem I have with bringing him back is he was deemed by many as garbage after Fedor destroyed him and mocked for losing to Mercer and so quickly. Dana was quick to bash him as well.
If he rejoins UFC then they will spin it as they always seem to do.

Kegray, I agree about the bashing and mainly Dana doing it. That seems to be his M.O.

Honestly I don't see why if they would consider Silvia they wouldn't consider Arvloski. They're getting very heavy on wrestlers in the HW division, a change of pace wouldn't be bad.

i'd like to see both sylvia and arlovski back in the ufc, but dana has mentioned that he has no interest in either of them.

dana changes his mind often, so he might change it on this issue as well.

however, i doubt he's interested in bringing back 2 guys who fedor embarrassed. if either guy were to make a successful run in the ufc, fedor's position would be strengthened.

those 2 fucked up by leaving the ufc.

to me,arlovski is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma(apologies to the great winston churchill)....

i can`t figure this guy out...he is,imo, an incomaprable pure athlete(ala nate marquardt)...speed,power,good on the ground, dangerous on his feet.....

he just won`t become defensively proficient...

i believe this guy could beat fedor...and make it look fairly easy(seriously,go back and watch the fedor fight again...he lost because he was careless....he was manhandling fedor for the short time it lasted..lol)...he can beat any heavyweight out there...if he studied a guy like machida,i could see him giving the monster(lesnar) a fit...

the problem is he can manage to lose to most of them ,too....even though that shouldn`t be the case...

what a frustrating fighter he must be to manage...

He is shot. That chin is so soft that he needs to find another field.

this card should kick ass!

The latest rumored (and impressive) UFC 106 card now includes:

* Champ Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin (for UFC heavyweight title)*
* Mark Coleman vs. Tito Ortiz*
* Kenny Florian vs. Clay Guida*
* Ricardo Almeida vs. Jon Fitch*
* Dustin Hazelett vs. Karo Parisyan*
* Phil Baroni vs. Amir Sadollah*

This just in. No chance Baroni is on the main card.
Why sign him if you not going to show him lose?
