Reason: The Spurs are obviously the stronger of these two teams. However, the situation favors the visiting Knicks. While New York had last night off, San Antonio comes off a big game in the high altitude of Denver. That's worth noting as we find the Spurs at 1-5 ATS the last six times they played the second of back to back games and 5-10 ATS in that situation during the 2007 calendar year. Most recently, they lost outright by 12 points vs. Sacramento. The Knicks played the Spurs tough here last season, losing by eight points as 13.5 point underdogs. Don't be surprised if they give the defending champs a tougher game than expected once again. Consider taking the points with the rested visitors.

This is a tricky spot for Denver. They can take over sole possession of first place in the Northwestern Division with a win over the 'Wolves. However the Nuggets went down to the wire for a win over the Spurs last night so you've got to be concerned about the possibility of a letdown. With the top spot on the line, I look for Denver to keep it together against Minnesota, which is just 4-10 ATS at home. The Nuggets won the first series meeting back in November 99-93.

The Marist Red Foxes have won the last four head-to-head meetings with the Rider Broncs including an upset win in this building last season, and we look for history to repeat tonight.


Marist is 7-6 straight up overall, but they have been competitive against some nice teams, and they are 3-2 SU in their true road games this season. They are coming off of a nice 73-67 win over Hofstra in the Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden after giving hosts St. John?s all that they can handle the previous night, covering the number in a hard-fought 62-59 defeat. The Red Foxes also have covering losses vs. Temple (in overtime) and surprising Houston on their resume.

Now Rider is 8-5 SU, but outside of a road win at Rutgers, they have really not beaten much. Yes, they are 4-0 SU at home, but three of those wins came vs. non-lined opponents, and they failed to cover the number in the other home win, beating Delaware just 76-71 as seven-point chalk.

Now we do that that Rider has a good team this year, but Marist will be the best team they will have faced at home so far, so we are very leery about giving points with the Broncs in this spot.

Our Friday night NBA selection is on the Minnesota Timberwolves plus the points at home over the Denver Nuggets.

This is a tough scheduling spot for Denver. Last night, the Nuggets played the world champs in the Mile High City and beat San Antonio 80-77 after ending the game on a 7-0 run. With that win, Denver avenged its playoff series loss, and I feel the Nuggets won't be ready to play Minnesota tonight after last night's grudge match.

And it certainly doesn't hurt Minny that Denver is unrested, while Minnesota hasn't played since Wednesday. Take the points.
