For Tuesday?s free play, we?ll move to the college hardwood and back Houston in a virtual pick-em spot against Kentucky.

Pretty easy call here. You?ve got a 9-1 Houston team that?s won eight in a row hosting a Kentucky team that?s split its eight games on the season, going 0-4-1 against the number in lined games. That includes a current three-game SU and ATS losing skid, with losses to North Carolina (86-77 at home), Indiana (70-51 on the road) and UAB (79-76 at home).

In fact, here are the teams Kentucky has defeated this year: Central Arkansas, Liberty, Texas Southern and Stony Brook. Not only that, but in addition to the aforementioned three losses, the Wildcats fell to Gardner-Webb ? by an 84-68 score ? at home!

Meanwhile, Houston is 7-0 at home, crushing its visitors by an average of 19 points per game (80-61), and while none of the Cougars? opponents are all that impressive, as you can see, Kentucky ain't impressive either!

Add to all this the fact that Houston gave a much, much better Wildcats team all it could handle in Lexington last year (Kentucky won 77-70 but failed as a 12-point home chalk), and the Cougars, who are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against the SEC, are a strong play in this spot.

Tip of the Day - December 18, 2007

Sport: NHL

Game: 7:00PM, Pittsburgh Penguins vs. New York Rangers

Prediction: New York Rangers

Current Line: -150

Over/Under: 5.5

Reason: The Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Rangers will meet on the

ice at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday in a battle of division rivals.

Oddsmakers currently have the Rangers listed as 150-moneyline favorites

versus the Penguins, while the game's total is sitting at 5.5.

Pittsburgh raced out to a 2-0 lead in Saturday's 3-2 win over the

Islanders, coming in as 105 road underdogs. The five goals scored were

UNDER the posted total of 5.5.

Sidney Crosby potted a solo marker, and Dany Sabourin made 27 saves for the

Penguins.

The Rangers lost to Phoenix 5-1 as a -230 favorite last time out. The six

goals scored went OVER the posted over/under total (5).

Daniel Girardi scored the Rangers lone goal, with Scott Gomez and Chris

Drury picking up assists.

THE GOLD SHEET - CONFIDENTAIL TIP OFF- ( CTO)

10 *HOUSTON over Kentucky...Youthful 4-3 UK (prior to UAB Dec. 15) having some difficulty getting on same page with new HC Billy Gillispie,
who says in wake of 70-51 setback at Indiana Dec. 8, ?We don?t carry out our assignments very well, and we have to pay better attention and
understand our margin of error is a bit small.? Wildcats probably won?t clean up mistakes vs. fast-paced, deep, good-shooting UH (nail nearly
10 treys pg) primed for NCAA resume-builder here. Cougs star 6-3 sr. G McKiver (20 ppg, 4 treys pg at 38%) is en fuego, while blue chip frosh
G duo of Nixon (from legendary Boys High in Brooklyn) & Pane (combined 21 ppg) fit like a glove.
*HOUSTON 81 - Kentucky 68 RATING - 10

My free pick of the day is the game between (703) LA Lakers and (704) CHI Bulls. Take "Under". The Lakers are playing some defense finally, holding the Clippers to 92 points. Kids like Andrew Bynum and Luke Walton are meshing with star Kobe Bryant. Bryant is not 100%, though, playing Sunday despite a strained left groin muscle. Chicago is struggling offensively, averaging just 92 ppg. The under is 3-0 the last three times they've met, including a meeting last month when Chicago scored just 78 points. Play the Lakers/Bulls under the total!

My free pick of the day is the game between (703) LA Lakers and (704) CHI Bulls. Take "(703) LA Lakers". Dave has a powerful Under the Hat college play on tap for tonight, and it's up at his Pure Gold Club for just $25. That's 50% off the regular rate, so take advantage and grab this big winner now!..."The Bulls have righted the ship to some extent recently, winning six of their last nine outings. But I'm still not impressed with the way they're playing and believe they will have their troubles tonight as the Lakers come calling. This team has been more than just Kobe, as there have been several key contributors off the bench on a regular basis. LA smashed the Bulls at Staples

Mike Rose Comp
One of the more intriguing games on the NBA slate tips tonight when the (14-9) LA Lakers invade the United Center to take on the (8-13) Chicago Bulls. Before the season started, you couldn?t open up a Chicago or Los Angeles sport section and not read about Kobe being shipped to the Bulls for a bulk of their younger talent. However, the Lakers wanted too much in return and an agreement never came to pass. The trade rumors played a major role in the Bulls slow start this season, but LA has managed just fine and currently find themselves in the #2 position in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference.

These clubs met a month ago to the day in the Staples Center, and it was the Lakers that came out on top by a 106-78 final count. The game was played the night after the Bulls had defeated the Clippers on the same exact floor, and was the third leg of the Bulls circus trip that?s haunted them ever since MJ hung up his shoes.

The revenge match finds the Bulls 2.5-point home favorites with the ?Total? set at 202. The Lakers have split their 10 road games this season (5-5), but they?ve churned out a winning mark ATS going 6-4 (60%). The Bulls haven?t dominated at home like in years past and come into tonight?s game with a 5-5 SU mark and a losing mark ATS going 4-6 (40%). LA is a combined 13-10 ATS (57%) on the road vs. sub .500 non-divisional Eastern Conference opponents, and the Bulls are a combined 9-16 ATS (36%) at home vs. + .500 non-divisional Western Conference foes.

Still, I don?t like this spot for the visitors and I foresee the Bulls putting forth a huge effort tonight in an attempt to finally turn the page on the drama that plagued them up until last week. They?ve had 3 days to prepare for this match-up, and their offense has finally woken up and should be able to take advantage of a Lakers defense that?s ranked in the lower third of the league allowing 102 PPG. I foresee the Bulls winning this game SU, and it?s a manageable number for them to have to win by to cash our ticket. Lay the bucket with the Bulls as they avenge their earlier season loss and get the best of both Phil and Kobe?

Sacramento at NEW JERSEY (-4')

This game is between two of the strangest teams in the NBA. New Jersey has lost five of six overall and fell 94-86 to the KNicks on Saturday - a night after beating Cleveland 105-77.

The Kings have won just once on the road this season, on Friday in Philly, 109-99, but then responded on Saturday with a horrible effort against the Wizards, falling 92-79. Sacramento shot just 43.3 percent against Washington and was held to less than 80 points for the second time in three games.

What can we count on in this one - a strong effort from the Nets' Richard Jefferson who is averaging a team-high 24.4 points a game. This team will find that unity it had in the Friday slaughter of the Cavs.

Last time these two played in New Jersey, the Nets scored a 109-96 win as three-point favorites. New Jersey has won three of the last four home games against the Kings, going 3-1 ATS.

The home team dominates this series, going 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings and we expect much of the same today as the Nets roll to victory.

3♦ NEW JERSEY

Lenny Del Genio's 20* CBB TV Game of the Week (11-2 Run)
Play on Houston at 9:00 ET. Let's just start out by saying this isn't your father's Kentucky basketball program. The Wildcats have lost three straight both SU and ATS and are faced with a Houston team that has won eight straight. Kentucky's lone "true" road experience was not a pleasant one, losing at Indiana by 19. What makes Houston so attractive here is their defense and rebounding. Defensively, the Cougars are allowing opponents to shoot just 39.7% from the floor and they hold a clear edge on the boards over KU. The Wildcats are also just 2-12 against the spread when faced with an opponent that averages better the 77 points/game, not to mention that Houston is playing with revenge for a seven-point loss in Lexington last year. Houston is our 20* CBB TV Game of the Week!

Good luck, Lenny

Lenny Del Genio's #1 NBA Total of the Week
Play Lakers/Bulls Under at 8:35 ET. Lenny spent years working on an NBA "totals system" and began using it last January on the net, with great success. It's based on numerous factors, some of them listed here. Anticipated pace and style of both teams' play. Days of rest for teams or lack of it. Number of points scored by starters as compared to subs in recent outings (plus season-long averages). It also factors in point and rebounding differentials of the two teams. With all these factors (and many more), it's not possible to provide Lenny's "typical analysis" with his NBA totals selections. However, after last year's success, he anticipates another banner year. Play are rated 10* (Game of Day), 15* (Game of Week), 20* (Game of Month) and some rare 25* plays. Good luck. Lakers/Bulls Under is our #1 NBA Total of the Week!

Good luck, Lenny

Pick on Dallas as my NHL GAME OF THE YEAR I am perfect in all Edmonton games this year- either fading (which I have done a lot) or playing on them. The big reason I like to fade them is their defense. They are ranked near the bottom in almost every important defensive stat. For Example- Edmonton has allowed a whopping 1,032 shots-on-goal this season while the Stars have allowed only 880. Only the LA Kings have allowed more goals and have a worse GAA than Edmonton in the Western Conference. They are playing better but have gotten some good luck in the process. Edmonton has matched a season high with three straight wins - all via the shootout. Edmonton has 10 victories in its 11 shootouts, two shy of the NHL record set by Dallas in 2005-06. Dallas has a fast team and those teams play very well at Edmonton. It's the Ice! I believe the Oilers are one of the slower teams in the league. They are below .500 at home this season, which is very telling to me. I doubt this team will make the playoffs! I will take the team with the better offense, much better defense, and flat out better team. Dallas has won 11 of their last 15 games. In their last 8 games vs. Western Conference opponents the Stars are 7-1. Dallas is 8-2 in their last 10 games following a victory. The Stars have won 5 of their last 7 road games. The Oilers are 18-38 in their last 56 games vs. a team with a winning record. In their last 10 games playing with 2-days rest the Oilers are 2-8. The Stars are 42-12-3 in their last 56 games vs. the Oilers. Dallas is 19-7-2 in their last 28 trips to Edmonton.

HIs other 2 picks are Florida and Columbus

Michael Cannon -- 7 - 16 LAST WEEK - POTENTIAL FADE !!

Tuesday's Plays...

20 Dime ?

HOUSTON

Take Houston for the home win over Kentucky.

The Wildcats are in a serious transition faze, as they come in with a young team that?s trying to adjust to new coach Billy Gillispie?s system.
Houston is a fast-paced, deep, good-shooting team that will take advantage of every Kentucky mistake.
The Wildcats have struggled with their shooting and I can?t trust them to come through here on the road.
Houston, on the other hand, has Robert McKiver who can light it up from the outside. The senior guard is averaging just under 21 ppg and shoots 40 percent from 3-point range.
Take the Cougars to get it done tonight at home over Kentucky.

10 Dime ?

GEORGIA TECH

Take the points with Georgia Tech tonight when they host unbeaten Kansas.
There?s no question Kansas is the more talented team, but they haven?t shot nearly as well in their two road games compared to when they are at home. The Jayhawks averaged just 59 ppg in their two road games on 37.9 percent shooting.
Georgia Tech is a long, deep group that will benefit from playing at home with an ACC officiating crew.
Kansas is just 2-6 ATS in its last eight games against the ACC, while Georgia Tech is on a 4-0 ATS roll against the Big 12.
Take the points as Georgia Tech stays within the number against the No. 3-ranked Jayhawks

lost last night
Vegas Experts ....(the last 2 months Oct 15-10..Nov 17-10)

3~5 totals
6~3 sides

Kansas and Georgia Tech meet tonight in an inter-conference hardwood clash on ESPN. Kansas is unbeaten at 10-0. Can Georgia Tech pull the upset or, at the least, stay within the generous number?

Kansas is a long way from home here but it's early in the year before the beginning of Conference play so the travel should not be a factor. The Jayhawks have been better than advertised, winning by an average of 26.4 pts/game and going 5-2-1 ATS. In contrast, there is room for improvement with the Yellow Jackets who are 4-4 straight-up and 3-5 ATS. Turnovers, rebounds and opponent's shooting percentage are all areas of concern and those will show up versus Kansas. The Jayhawks have been favored in all their games this year and are 18-8 ATS in road games after playing 3 consecutive games as favorite over the last 3 seasons.

Play on: Kansas
