***BEST BET
Orlando over Utah by 18

Pick on the Utah Jazz. Not play on them, but
pick on them. Big difference. They are out on
a long road trip with two injured players --
Harpring and Okur -- and a pair of "team
leaders" who aren't really team leaders
because Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer
haven't really led them anywhere. All they want
to do is score. All Jerry Sloan wants them to do
is play defense. He tossed Gordon Giricek from
his own bench during the last game for whining,
sending him all the way back to team headquarters
in Salt Lake City to "await sentencing."

The road is not the best place to be distracted,
missing players, and in a rut of seven losses in
the last eight games. With Okur out, the Jazz is
without a shooting mismatch on the perimeter.
With Rashard Lewis having already returned to
action this week after missing some games,
the Magic have their mismatch guy to shoot
over the unfortunate visitor. ORLANDO, 114-96.

Marco D'Angelo | NBA Sides Double-Dime Bet
510 WAS -4.5 (-110) BetUS vs 509 ATL
Analysis: Washington bounces back with a Big Win tonight at home as they catch Atlanta off of monster Wins over Utah & Miami. This is Atlanta's last game before Christmas I expect them to start their Christmas Vacation early. Take WASHINGTON as MARCO'S NBA BLOWOUT GAME OF THE WEEK and make them a DOUBLE DIME PLAY.

Game: Florida Atlantic Owls @ Memphis Tigers - Friday December 21, 2007 8:00 pm
Pick: 3 unit(s) ATS: Florida Atlantic Owls -2.5 (-111) (Normal)

Bowl Season will be a bit hectic. So, please continue to check for bowl selections as soon as I finish my research I will plug them into the backend. Please flat wager all of the bowl selections as I am looking to turn a profit flat wagering as I always do. I am likely to have a Bowl Game of the Year, depending on the research as it was Kentucky outright over Clemson last year and if I find a solid game to do this on, I will denote it. I have not capped the Basketball card for the following days so I cannot designate any bowl games as my POD without doing the Basketball card so simply know that my bowl picks will be coming throughout the season and I will keep it updated on the previous bowl pick. Let's have a great Bowl season. Thursday: Pass Friday: Florida Atlantic -2.5. There is simply no way I can do all the research and have an additional write-up. So, I will tack on the research and add a few words on the bottom. Thanks. Research on this game: There has been a small increase towards Florida Atlantic and the total has come slightly down for this game. Keep in mind this bowl is one of several that is in Louisiana. I have Florida Atlantic as a top 70 team and Memphis as a top 100 team and frankly a bit surprised to see Memphis in a bowl game this year. Florida Atlantic's most impressive win to me was on the road at Troy State when they beat a top 40 team outright as a 15 point underdog. This team has played a very difficult schedule with the likes of Florida, South Florida, Kentucky and even Oklahoma State. By no means did this team take it easy on themselves this year. Memphis's most impressive win was on the road at Southern Miss when they beat a top 80 team outright as 17 point underdogs. Florida Atlantic keep in mind has played 7 straight overs coming into this game as keep in mind if you feel that this game is going to be an offensive battle, than Florida Atlantic is the way to go. Keep in mind that in my power rankings I have Memphis not having defeated a top 75 team all year. I have Florida Atlantic as a top 50 team on offense and a top 90 team on defense as they are 19th in the nation in passing yards. Memphis is a strong offensive team as well as I have them as a top 30 offense and 12th in the nation in passing but they are outside the top 100 in overall on defense. I think this game likely goes over and Florida Atlantic is rated higher on my power ranking. I have them winning by 5+.
Bottom Line: The Bottom line here is that Florida Atlantic is a top 70 team in my book and Memphis has not beat a top 70 team all year as they are 0-2 against such teams and their last 4 of 5 wins come against teams outside the top 100. I look for this game to be similar to the one against East Carolina for Memphis as I like Florida Atlantic's strength of schedule to prevail in the end. The 25 spot power ranking differential is enough for me to take a shot on the Owls. The Owls of Florida Atlantic are 6-1 ATS on field turf and 5-2 ATS as favorites.

THE REAL ANIMAL

Pick title: 3* Memphis +3 1/2 and 3* 'OVER' 66 at BetUS.com
Pick Date: 12/21/2007
Pick description:
I don?t handicap or follow the Sun Belt conference so take this one with a grain of salt. Plus teams like Memphis I rarely get right to even further validate this soft play. But I?ve seen big boys like Missouri and Oklahoma State from major conferences stumble at Troy, so the fact that Florida Atlantic won outright at that venue is fairly impressive. Just seven years into their program, Florida Atlantic is bowling for dollars as Coach Schnellenberger returns to a bowl for the first time since 1993. We know going in this team will throw successfully. The Owls fired for over 300 yards in Gainesville against the Gators. They were 6-1 in conference play while Memphis was 0-2 against the Sun Belt. Memphis concluded the season 7-5 making the Tigers 9-15 SU the last two years. Memphis won five games by three points or less. The Tigers also can?t stop the run, as they were #110 out of 119 FBS teams. This isn?t to suggest Florida Atlantic is a defensive juggernaut. Neither of these teams plays a shred of defense. Memphis allows 31 points a game while Florida Atlantic is at 33 a contest. The difference though appears to be strength of schedule. Memphis took on opponents like Ole Miss, Arkansas State, and Jacksonville State out of conference. FAA played Minnesota, Kentucky, and Florida. This game has shootout written all over it. Memphis was just torched at times yielding 56 at Central Florida, 56 to East Carolina at home, and 52 at home to SMU. I watched East Carolina at Marshall and SMU at TCU. Those two teams are pathetic as is the entire Conference USA. It?s hard to determine the mental outlook of Memphis. But following a 2-10 campaign in 2006, I suppose the Tigers are glad to be anywhere. Needless to say Florida Atlantic is ecstatic. But a virgin bowl team as a favorite of more than a field goal? Sounds like a scary proposition to me. Memphis won the New Orleans Bowl in 2003. FAA is 0-5 ATS as a favorite if their opponent is off a win. Going into this year, the Owls were favored four times in their history and were 0-4 ATS. This year they were 4-2 ATS as a chalk. FAA was also +19 in turnovers, tied for 1st in all college football in that category. As mentioned earlier, the Owls won a shocking game at Troy as a 15 ?-point underdog. Curiously, bowl favorites off a SU win of more than six points have covered just six of the last 25 times. FAA was also 0-4 ATS against fellow bowl teams this year. Memphis is 11-2 ATS as a rested underdog against an opponent off back-to-back wins. I like the fact that Memphis QB Martin Hankins is a senior and that the Tigers rushed for 461 yards in their last two games. From 2001-2004 Sun Belt champion North Texas went 1-3 SU and ATS in this game. Okay, enough already. I?ve spent enough time on these two pretenders. I?m personally playing pizza and beer $$ only on this one. 3*?s on Memphis +3 ? and ?OVER? 66 at BetUS.com. Indulge if you must.

BURNS ANHILATOR-- KNICKS

Memphis is playing FAU in college football. Just trying to get clarification of Burns Memphis pick. Is he taking Memphis +10 against Detroit or Memphis +3 in college football?

Just trying to clarify as I have not yet seen a writeup for Burns on Memphis in NBA or CFB. Assume what you want..I'd rather be sure.
