Yes sir.. always busy this time of year especially at the beginning. We played our first scrimmage the other day and have 2nd one Tuesday. First games next weekend we host our labor day tournament . Two top 5 3A schools and a quality 4A school (were AA). We scheduled a very difficult non conference schedule this year, 4 out of 6 are 3A and 4A schools and the team we beat to go to states last year in 2A we also play. We have one cupcake non conference.. again, we?ll be good this year, the problem this year is depth, we?re not as deep as we usually are. And our leading scorer last year was a freshman she?s been nursing a hammy and she?s been held out for a while now (no reason to risk it , if we lose her we have no one else who can score 20+ goals, fun fact she is a better keeper than field
Player by far and penn st is interested in her as a keeper) and we had a freshman outside back who will be a stud break her wrist but she?ll be able to play but obviously she?s not practicing.. as always we?ll be solid defensively, but we may have some growing pains, defense has always been our key. We have 2 new center backs this year, one graduated and one by choice . Our returning center back committed to Kent st as a sophomore but we need her in the midfield so to make 2 areas ?good? we had to weaken a ?great? area. So the center backs are a work in progress but the talent is there.. injuries are the key as we only go maybe 13 deep at best.. I?m
Always realistic with predictions, I think depending on the district bracket, we can make semis and challenge for states with 3rd place.. starting next year for the next few years after we will be able to challenge for state titles.. we have some real Studs in the community and really worked on building that, one girl who i knew was D1 talent since 3rd grade (she will be able to pick her college ) I think she has a real Shot at being a pro.. that?s a real far out statement but she?s that good and runs circles around Hs girls in offseason..next weekend we may go 0-2 but in the long run it will be better with the teams we?re playing.
The leading scorer in state last year was a freshman, 64 goals. She transferred to the catholic school in our conference. Can?t stand private schools.. anyhow she was ruled ineligible by our district yesterday but the state usually reversed those rulings.. we?ll see how it goes
