Fredrick Jacobson +110 over Retief Goosen

 Getting screwed on juice here.. but Retief has been out of form. Last 2 events hes finished like 111 and 114. Jacobsen played consistent last week and his record here is amazing. Its a lively dog

All of these bets so far are fairly small..

I have +1.20. Thinking about it because of your statement.

Yea check retiefs last 2 weeks on the euro tour. He has struggled badly. Jacobsen played well last week... and has a nice track record here. It would be nice if it was around +140.. oh well

2006 Recap
Jeff Maggert and John Cook turned back the clock, battling it out in the final group for supremacy on a leaderboard only a mother could love. Maggert fired a final-round 67 that was enough to eke out his third career PGA TOUR victory, and his first since his unlikely win at the WGC-Accenture Match Play event back in 1999. He needed just 99 putts during his four rounds, joining Aaron Baddeley as the only two players to ever record fewer than 100 putts and win. Cook was seeking his first victory since 2001 but wound up dropping behind Tom Pernice Jr. (also victory-less since 2001) at four-under, five strokes back of Maggert and tied with Kris Cox for third place.

2005 Recap
Justin Leonard entered the final round with an eight-shot lead and needed every last stroke to hang on for a one shot victory over David Toms. Leonard made a three-and-a-half footer for bogey on the 18th hole then fell to the green in comic relief. Had he missed, it would have gone down as the largest final-round collapse in PGA Tour history. Toms, who won the St. Jude Classic in both 2003 and 2004, made four birdies and an eagle on his back nine to close with a 63. But Leonard managed to earn the 10th victory of his PGA Tour career and his second of 2005 despite not making a birdie on Sunday. Fred Funk finished alone in third at nine-under-par, five shots behind Leonard.

The Course
The par-70 TPC at Southwind has only two par 5s, but at 7,244 yards it still offers plenty of length. The 11th hole was designed to imitate the famous Island Green No. 17 at Sawgrass, though the wind is less of a factor here, and the stakes considerably lower, than at the original. Several holes were both lengthened and narrowed following the 2004 tournament and all the greens were re-seeded. The course offers an array of tight dog legs and brings water into play on about half the holes, though neither feature has kept the course record from being under constant assault in recent years. Bob Estes and Jay Delsing have both shot 61s at Southwind, though Leonard (62) and Toms (63) both made a run at that mark in 2005.

The Field
It wouldn't do fantasy golfers much good to play their top draft pick when he doesn't plan on teeing it up, which is why fantasy owners have to be very cognizant of who is playing each week. As a courtesy, we've provided this link to the official field as provided by PGATOUR.com.

Note: It's a good idea to check this list for the official field of players again on Wednesday, as it is not unusual for golfers to drop out of tournaments in the days leading up the first round.

Is that over Geoff? Thats a lot of juice for 2 even players. I think you are fading Geoff because of his poor history here. But he is a different player now. He also played well last week, and the Open is next week so Im sure his game is rounding into form. Good Luck though.

One last play this week..

John Senden -125 over Mark Calc

Sendens ball striking has been uncharacteristically poor the past few tourneys. He still leads the tour in GIR's and this course is perfect for his boring style of play. Calc has struggled here. He also failed to qualify for the Open earlier this week. I am hoping for 100 degree weather.. since Mark isnt the most in shape guy out on tour. All 4 plays this week are small.. hopin for 2 - 2 and or 3 - 1 .

Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt)

David Toms to win 16/1 e.w. @ BetInternet [6 places]
With the change of greens from bentgrass to bermudagrass (newly laid last year) and the use of zoysia grass on the fairways, this is a week when course experience should be very important. A good record in this event is also a consideration when looking at players' motivations when the U.S. Open is next week. So, with a cumulative 65-under-par record over the last 5 years and finishing positions of 4th, 1st, 1st, 2nd and 10th over that time period, Toms should be the ideal candidate for this title. It is a par-70 with just two par-5s so his strength/driving distance issues will not be such a concern this week and he did improve his leaderboard position with every round at Colonial two weeks ago when finishing 18th; he really should be no worse than top-10 this week.

Fredrik Jacobson to win 40/1 e.w. @ Stan James, Victor Chandler and ToteSport
Jacobson is another with a very good record around this course - he finished 3rd, 5th and 6th from 2003 to 2005 - and is coming off a top-5 finish last week at the Memorial Tournament. He does miss a lot of cuts, but it's the same payout on the play whether he finishes 6th or 106th so that is not an concern. What is an issue, though, is the fact that he has played in each of the last eight weeks. Anything more than four weeks in a row would be enough reason to swerve a player, but he had been absent for almost eight months with a wrist injury (and it is clearly mended with such a schedule) and he had been rested at the weekend in each of previous three events before the Memorial. I was expecting 33/1, so I'll take this price on a player who has a history of stringing high finishes together.

Camilo Villegas to win 66/1 e.w. available generally
And I was certainly expecting no more than 40/1 on Villegas. He has course experience with a 16th place finish last year (having been 5th at the cut) and was 3rd in neighbouring Georgia only three weeks ago. And to confirm his good form, he qualified for the U.S. Open with four shots to spare at the most competitive site on Monday. That momentum and confidence should make him a better prospect for at least a top-5 finish than these odds suggest.

The hank k -110 over Daly looks attractive.

Got a feeling John D withdraws after a few holes .. both will miss the cut i am willing to say.

I feel Geoff Ogilivie is in a position to falter this week with one eye on defending his title @ Oakmont. It must be tough for him to focus with the Open staring him in the face. The fact he has struggled here doesn't hurt.

Scott should play well this weekend and Toms should be focused this week because he feels like he has a shot at a win here. David Toms is such a wuss, that he has ABSOLUTELY no aspirations of winning the US Open next weekend.
