Somewhere Dana is smiling, Strikeforce comes up with a nice idea in a heavyweight tournament only to lose it 2 most popular last night on opening night. Not having the option of having Fedor fight AO or Werdum kills them....it might time for both Fedor and Arlovski it call it quits. Arlovski has no chin left, and Fedor has gotten old and quick to beat much bigger men each time out, althouh he knows how to take a beating.

Fedor looked about as dangerous and tough as you can while getting your ass beat. He's still a very exciting fighter, and you can see why he went so long without losing. He's fearless and uber-aggressive.

Hindsight 20/20 but Fedor hasn't beaten much in last few with with the likes of small Matt Lindland. Used and abused Mark Coleman and goons Hong Kong Fuey and the Mainiac Sylvia.

Fedor given Tysonesque legendary status but it may have been a bit of hyperbole and skewed perceptions. Now he's fighting beast's with ability and he's in real fights.

Agreed and he almost had a leg at the end of the round too, and no other man would have taken that for 5 minutes. My point age is setting in, speed loss, and perhaps he just isnt motivated enough anymore. With that said, SF lost here IMO because even if he does fight again, who, the main people will be tied up for some time and he will have to wait, perhaps Werdum in a rematch later this year should he lose to AO. I would love to see him drop down to 205, shit he only weighed 230 with jeans/belt on, so around 225 ish, cutting 20 pounds would be nothing if he could lay off the ice cream and vodka.

yeah,he`s probably been past his prime for a couple years...but i gotta respectfully disagree....... .the game evolves...new stars step forward....the older guys...well,they get old...and broken down after years of wars....wear and tear...

i don`t understand how anybody can knock fedor..a smallish heavyweight who spanned a decade of being unbeatable...what the heck do people want from the guy?......he`s an all-time great...it`s just not his time anymore...

and you can throw lower weight guys like b.j. penn and matt hughes in the mix...they were dominant during their time...but,their time has passed...i don`t think that fact diminishes what they accomplished...

they beat who was there to be beaten at the time... in their prime years.........

it`s the natural order of things...evolution...it`s gonna happen to velasquez....if he goes undefeated for 10 years and 30 fights, then maybe he can be considered at the same level as fedor was in his prime.....

not fair to discard legacies that guys spent their whole careers establishing...

everybody loses it at some point...

GW and kegray never say anything positive about Dana.......kegray and GW could be dying and Dana saves em both....and they'd still bash him:mj07:

Dana White is just showing how much of a dumbass he is with his tweets.

Making tweets like this:
@ByronByrd wtf has he done for the sport!? Ur f**kin nuts

Are you serious?
A true MMA fan(which Dana claims to be) knows what Fedor has been to hardcore mma fans.
Just hasn't done it in UFC which is his beef.

Someone should thank Dana for his next two PPV cards. I am looking for to watching well just one of those fights:Shogun/Jones.
Looks like stream it is for those cards.

He had an impressive run but whether by design or not, his opposition was fairly soft. Could have been better. And since the legend was built, he began, with Rodgers, to make his run against the sports elite heavies. And, as we see, it ain't gonna happen.

Just watched the fights this morning. A great card:0074

Fedor is a legend and in my view the greatest ever. But time waits for no man and his time has passed.

What makes his run even more impressive is his size. Hell look at his female translator yesterday. She looked the same size as him. We are in the age of big, quick and skilled heavyweights. I've long wanted to Fedor to fight at LHW (if Mike Dolce got hold of him he could probably hit 185) but I don't think that is his mindset. Again that just adds to the legend. The forums hate on him and praise him and say is over rated. But that's what forums are for:0003

Good win for Kharitonov. Made the event a good one for me. It is amazing how far AA has fallen

Look forward to seeing more of Del Rosario

Gina is back:0074

Hope everyone made some money

Was gonna load up on Kharitonov and then saw a bad tape of a match of his and decided not to. How anyone in the world would put two cents on Arloski is nuts to me. Why i didn't have the balls to go against him i'll never no. Arloski has now surpassed Gurgel as the dumbest fighter i have ever saw. He boxes beautifully against Fedor then tries a flying knee  . Last night might have been the worst tho. I can't imagine Greg Jackson having any voice left after watching this clown back against the fence and try to fight a slugger from there. My goodness is his brain gone like his chin? Fedor it isn't worth responding. If u are a Dana nut hugger u are happy he lost. U think he is overrated now. If u are a fan of the sport u appreciate what this guy has done. Not like he wasn't coming out for a third round. Not like some borederline stiff knocked him out. He smashed as close to a UFC champion as their was in Arloski. Smashed another former champ an in shape Tim Silva and now im supposed to think the guy is a fraud because he got beat by a very tough guy weighin 50 pounds more then him. A guy this big and Fedor still had no fear when he started slugging with him and not dancing around the ring throwing jabs for five rounds

Can someone please please shoot this guy Mauro Ranallo. Send him over to the WWE were u can get away with all that hyping because u are talking to mostly kids. He is an insult to anyone with an MMA IQ over 5. Last night i thought he was gonna go in the ring and blow Fedor and then when Fedor loses, he can't believe that Bigfoot was a five to one dog. First off it wasn't five to one and before the match it was hard to even know who Fedor was fighting with Mauro rediculous hypping. This guy really needs to go. I remember the first time i ever heard him he made Chung Lee sound like he was Bruce Lee :mj07:

I don't think Fedor is done. Guy blitzed Werdum and got caught in a submission. Lets not act like Silva is some no name pushover. Silva fought a retarded fight against Werdum(dominated 1st round, dumb 2nd and 3rd), otherwise he'd be undefeated.

The knee-jerk reaction stuff is dumb. I think with a little more time he will once again be back at the top. The HW division is so crazy right now because fighters are coming in and weighing 265 shredded, and then weighing anywhere from 270-300 lbs at fight time.

I was thinking the same thing kegray......ukgaz is a good guy but he is on some high amounts of crack if he thinks Fedor is the best ever. Fedor is a good guy and a great fighter. But in order to be the best ya gotta fight the best. And Fedor's level of competition has been laughable.

Once he started fighting decent fighters you saw what happened.

Bottom line if Fedor was in the UFC from 2008 onward he would have been exposed much earlier.

Fedor was great for the sport and a great fighter, but massively over-rated and not even close to "the best ever".

I always find it comical how guys seemed to think how great Pride was, just look what happened when many fought outside of the organization, they got exposed, Fedor was no different.

Are we forgetting that Mike Pyle was about 3 seconds from beating Silva in his last fight? Mike Pyle almost beat Silva, yes, Mike Pyle.:mj07:

And I'll say it again, just imagine Fedor fighting tough guys like Anderson and GSP do. But glad that didn't happen because our buddy ukgaz would have killed himself:142smilie

I do miss Pride:cry:

Greatest ever:shrug: He is certainly has to be amongst the consideration with Silva and GSP though I think GSP will one day be able to put claim to that title

I would still like to see Fedor against Barnett. There is still a place for Fedor in the heavyweight division - maybe just not as it's king

Oh and I need to make an amendment to an earlier post. Saku is the greatest :moon:

pride at its peak make ufc's best fights LOOK LIKE WIDE OPEN PUSSY

unmatched era of violence

if dude's are roiding in japan then enter the octagon with rules disabling more violent offense

of course their performances will suffer

You do realize that the UFCs LHW and MW champions were from pride...as well as some of other fighters in the UFC are from pride and have done quite well? Pride was top heavy and not as deep as the UFC is today, but to say these fighters aren't legends or weren't great fighters is a complete joke.

Fedor is what, 34? He will be fine. Fights can end so differently but one bad move(Fedor getting put on his back) can end the night. Fedor won the first round, you know that right? lol

You're so UFC/GSP biased that you refuse to open your eyes.

many of the young and uninformed on boards everywhere really never experienced pride in it`s heyday...and have no real frame of reference....when it was happening in real time..the violence(socker kicking guys when they were down,stomping)......the tournaments...the crazy pageantry of those japanese shows...the great rivalries that were created...

this stuff was legendary...it was much more evolved than the ufc in the early 2000`s....there was no comparison,imo...

it`s not really fair to discount or diminish all that those guys accomplished in their heyday(a time when the most productive thing that many of today`s fans were doing was soiling their dipe-dipes).......

just because when they moved on they were older and much more dog-eared than they were in their primes in their home organization doesn`t mean they didn`t earn their stripes...... they were brutal fights...they had some brutal rivalries...

any organization that produced guys like emelenankos,the nogueiras,henderson,rua,rampage,barnett,kharitonov, schilt,wedum,gomi,mirko,arona,matyushenko,overeem,wanderlei silva,anderson silva,joachim hansen,paulo filho.......my god.....that`s amazing stuff.....

whats the rationale behind trying to diminish these guys?...we should all be thankful that these guys blazed the trail for all mma fans...

they were great in their primes...they dominated their time..and many are more than holding their own well into their 30`s....

it`s crazy...
