Sorry again for my crap picks guys. AA's chin mirrors Chucks the last few years. I knew I was screwed when he was backing away and against the fence with his hands down. Like always he looks good but then his brain hits a snag and he stops thinking. We call it "getting his with a stupid stick." In his case I think he gets hit and freezes because he fought a very stupid fight.

Who thinks SF is wishing they would have thought about the match ups a little better? Silva was probably the worst match up for Fedor out of anyone. Silva's size wouldn't have been as much of a problem for the other fighters. Silva won't be able to do that vs Overeem and yes I'm saying Overeem because he WILL be Werdum. There's no way he's getting anywhere close to the ground with him and Werdum's stand up is absolute crap.

agree,brother...don`t know why they didn`t seed the fighters...they have fedor/overeem/silva and werdum on the same side of the bracket?......you could argue they would have been the top 4 seeds...

wtf were they thinking?....love the tournament set-up....but they brackets were terribly botched,imo....

Agreed on all this. Knowing the outcome from Saturday, and playing arm chair QB, I would have rather them set AO vs Fedor first, this way they would have been guaranteed a blockbuster, instead this tournament, albeit a great idea, lost its flair IMO Saturday night, especially to those of us in the US that arent or werent privy to seeing Khar AO and Barnett fight much stateside. They lost their meal ticket with Fedor losing, and just a bad matchup in the first round.

Oh and one more thing, dont be surpised if somehow or someway one the fighters remaining get hurts and Coker allows Fedor back in. Just watch....

The seedings were most likely like that because with this organiation u never know what is gonna happen and the tourney could fall apart tomorrow. I guess get one Fedor fight in before the tourney collapses might have been the goal :142smilie

One thing i take out of the Fedor fight is how awful he throws his hands. He relies on speed and power but technique wise he is piss poor. Saying that makes me wonder what ever happen to the heavyweights in this country or even in other countries. If Fedor is winniing and throwing like that for all those years where were all the guys with hands that could challenge him? If u really think about it Dos Santos looks like the only guy who knows how to box. Even Overreen to me looks wild on occasion. Where are the Lennox Lewis of today? Are they all in the NFL and NBA?

Funny you say that, I went back and watched some old fights of Fedors, and in no way am I discrediting anything about him or his legacy, but he throws haymakers. It worked, and he knows how to take a beating evidence from the other night. His speed is what won him a lot of fights and throwing bombs from either hand and from everywhere. Now regarding boxing, it is a lost art IMO, the Don Kings of the worlds have ruined it and the younger generation appear more interested in MMA, instead of just this one discipline. One mans opinion having boxed a little or hit the bags, if I could go back in time and this was relevant I would rather train in everything too.

i don`t think that as far as mma fighting goes, fedor`s technique is bad....

fedor is extremely sneaky-quick.....if you go back and watch his fight vs arlovski, arlovski`s height gave him trouble...but he waited for the right spot and fired a beautiful counter right hand ......

truthfully, mma and boxing are very different...we watched a guy who is very limited in griggs....a guy with lousy technique just overwhelm villante....

he was wide open, but every punch had bad intentions on it....the kid was probably a better all around fighter...a better athlete...but he wasn`t used to handling that kind of raw aggression...he was probably used to guys being cautious with him because of his raw athletic ability and wrestling....

griggs said f` that,i`m goin` for it..i`m making this kid fight my fight.....he did and it worked...

i think a more experienced fighter would have zapped griggs,as careless as he was in that fight....but it was the right gameplan vs an inexperienced young fighter...

i give griggs a ton of credit....he`s got stones...

I don't watch a lot of boxing but I think MMA guys technique is what a lot of boxing fans struggle with. IMO boxing doesn't translate to MMA very well. I think take downs, take down defense and kicks play a big role in that. Even K1 guys don't have your typical boxing type punches. Two different sports and you just can't compare them.

i thought Fedor looked very sloppy comin in to Silva but the fuker is as tough as nails. He walked thru a few of Silva's shots like it was nothing. Sometimes a guys chin cleans up a lot of mistakes. The Arloski counter punch was a thing of beauty but sometimes i wonder about his technique. I think Fedor is one of those rare guys who is just flat out strong. Just born that way. it would be nice to see him slim down to 205 but i think the chances of that are slim and none and slim just left.

Lay i don't even see guys in professional boxing (heavyweights) with great technique. It is like a lost art. You get a big heavyweight boxing match and the whole world will watch. Those fighters seem to be gone. why is it the bigger the guy gets the worst he looks with his hands

He has the same punching style as Igor Vovchanchyn. What at times looks like wild punching mixed in with super fast hands. It enables them to punch when off balance.

The style would be terrible for boxing but works for MMA
