Thought I would throw my opinion in on this decimal subject, as I work for a British book.

Your American lines are by far the most difficult to work out. In Europe, the most common odds are fractional odds e.g 4/6, 1/2 etc etc but decimal odds are just as simple. Multiply your stake by the actual decimal odd, and 'voila', you get your total returns back including your original stake.

I cannot get my head around this American price system, and am not sure why it is used so much.

this really should be in "general" but ...

as we all know gambling is based on the principal of "it has a 1 in something" chance in winning. or they will win "4 times in 20" giving these circumstances.

i think with the "vegas" system it is a little more apparent to see the "odds of winning". and the fractional system is just as easy or even easier.

the decimal system is designed for a "payout" approach. i have never disagreed that it wasn't simpler to use for calculating payout.

before i wager i would much rather see that i'm paying -175, than the book is paying me $1.57
the -175 just happens to tell me a little more about the match i'm wagering on compared to the effort i put into capping it.

--------------------

anyway, it seems the tennis tide is slipping back out towards the books on us in this recent tourny. is it just me or does it seem the books have been taking our money on favs that should be winning and ALSO on the "dogs" that should NOT be winning.

kickserv is right ... tennis is not an easy racquet :)

gl all !!

geez, look at this line at Olympic on the Spadea/Rochus match ...

107 Vince Spadea -125
108 Oliver Rochus -105

cripes, 20pt juice and they won't even throw the dogs a bone

Vahaly +140 over Robredo.

Robredo didn't have to do much yesterday to beat Schalken, who basically gave up.

Vahaly playing best tennis of his career right now. Juicy price.

Goin' to the well one more time with the hot Mr. Schuettler. He's playing wonderfully and should upset Kuerten as a small underdog.
