Been waiting all year to bet on this game.....The spread here doesn't matter as I still dont know it nor do I care to know it....taking HORNS huge here on the ML. This game has been circled on their schedule since the start of the season....with TX's depth and the veterans on their team they should handle these CATS with no problem towards the end of the game since AZ only plays with about 6 players all game long. Not a good sgn at all for them.

I'd be a little careful b/c Zona will be a tad undervalued since they only beat st louis by 1 pt, but good luck, just my .02, I would lean Texas too, and ML probably the way to go to be safe, sound logic there, g luck

Hey Mike,

Zona just not as good as they have been in the past. TX has a very deep bench with lots of playing time versus a Zona team that has 1-2 maybe. This will be a homecoming(sp?) if you may for James Thomas and Royal Ivey. Boy is that Thomas kid a monster on the boards or what? TX will have the legs to win this game and should beat up Zona pretty good in the paint with all their big men rotating in and out. This team should have been ranked in the Top 3 at least from the beginning of the season with 4 returning starters including their best defensive player in Ivey. These guys have been playing together since their Freshman. They will make a lot of believers in them after Tuesday night.

The main things I'm watching for from Texas in this game are the ball handling of the team, movement away from the ball, and perimeter defense. These have tended to be weaknesses of Barnes' teams at Texas over the years, but so far it looks like this collection is his best yet. Arizona will be the first true test.

1) Flying Under The Radar: We may be putting up huge points but very few people outside of Texas have watched the Horns this year. Box scores look great but are being discounted because of the competition. Perhaps rightfully so, more likely not. We'll still hang a hundred on some good teams this year.

2) The TJ Effect: How could we lose TJ Ford and still be as good of a team, let alone better? An easy answer for those of us that know the team well -- depth, senior leadership, and Rick Barnes. But there's a reason we started outside of the Top 10 this year. TJ's departure has cost us 10 spots in the polls but there sure as hell aren't 10 teams out there better than us.

3) Perimeter Attack: Mouton, Taylor, Harris, and Boddicker can all go off at any time. We won't get as many open looks against Zona, but the ones we do will likely count for 3. Even Klotz, Buckman, and Ivey have hit from long range.

4) Depth in the Post: Thomas will assert his presence on the glass even if he only scores 7 pts. James has had a relatively quiet year so far but he comes to play in the big ones. We can leave the scoring up to Buckman. Klotz is also always good for 6-8 in games like these. Freshman PJ Tucker won't get as many minutes in this game but you can believe he'll make his presence known. He's a tank that drives like a sports car. Channing Frye has bulked up a bit, but he still plays a finesse game in the paint and although he's become very good at it these four will wear anybody down eventually.

I'll be shocked if Texas loses this game. I think Arizona is a stronger team 1-6, but Texas is a bad matchup, and with that lean of a roster, they're going to have challenging moments against good matchups, however talented their few players are.

I'll play the ML also but I imagine the line will open at around 3-6 in favor of Texas. Anything less, I'll be asking Anthony Richkas for a comprehensive loan. :)

another note:

AZ players played a lot of minutes against St. Louis to win by 1 while TX got to rest many of its starters their last game out in a cake walk. I don't think anyone is going to drill TX this year gman. This team is mentally tough and actually have guys on their team that can all score at any given point in time barring injury. But I agree that Duke will be its MAJOR test to see where they stand. On that subject I do believe that some of these guys were on the team when they last got drilled by Duke a couple of years ago, not positive but will look up that info here in a little bit. Thanks for the HOOK'EM. :D

Yo X2MAN,

UT got Kenny Taylor which was on Baylor's basketball team last year. Sure wish we could have landed that other kid from Baylor, would have been nice.

Hockey:

Do you know what the ML is on that game? Carib is always LAST it seems like I swear.

Pounding Texas -2.

no need for a ML bet when the line is only -2. even if the line is at 3 when carib posts it, they should win by that much.

wish i were in vegas right now with a few g's in my pocket. :)

ps. the other baylor kid is Lawrence Roberts, currently playing at Miss. St.

No ML's on any of tomorrow's college or pro hoops yet.

Don't feel bad Cris is the only one I see up with lines for tomorrow.

You guys are funny. . .

Does anyone think Arizona woke up ready to play St. Louis on Saturday morning? Do you think the Cats were ready to give it their best shot?

Lute knows how to beat Texas. Short handed? What else is new. . . Wildcats beat the Horns again.

Two places I checked for lines list Arizona as the home team;
Oly and Bestline.

Is this a mistake??
I have the game at Texas.

The game is on a neutral floor at Madison Square Garden. . . Texas has played all their games against "powerhouse" teams at home.

I'll have a writeup later tonight. . . I'll wait for the money to come in on Texas then pound the other side. Its fun to see Arizona finally in a postion like this where they look like they can get smoked.

Gman,

Its possible bud. . . the line may come down but it looks like nearly 70% are on Texas for the WRONG reasons. . .

Arizona is already battle tested. . . the Horns had four give me games.

This will be the Horn's first game on the road.

Arizona is short handed but this will hurt them in tournaments. . . not games where they have time to rest! I'm not sure people realize just how well conditioned Arizona teams are especially at the beginning of the season. This is how they have overcome short benches in the past. Teams have to catch up with them by the time March rolls around as they are well conditioned for their very first game.

Lute knows how to beat Texas. . . the Horns play the game Arizona loves. . . there aren't many teams that can beat Arizona playing their game and Texas has never been one of them (except in the 1940's if you want to go back that far be my guest).

I'm a homer, but I know this team. . . Texas fans need to save their money on this one.
