I have just finished the "how does this happen thread." Man was that overwhelming! Would liked to have jumped in to ask a few questions but since I just read it I thought I'd ask them now.

First I am a Africian American male that was born in Ohio, we moved th Calif in 1961 when I was 9 years old (long time ago). Anyway my point is when my family drove through Texas I had my first encounter with racism at a motel. We were told that they did not rent rooms to "colored" folks. What a shock to me. Next incident was the next morning after sleeping in a car over night, we were hungry, so we stopped to get some food (still in Texas), we were told that they only served "colored " folks in the back. Mom and dad started to drive and we didn't stop till we got out of Texas. That was over 40 years ago and it was the first and the last time that I have experenced that type of overt racism.

So anyway I can understand why folks can have a bad opion of certain things because of what has happened to them in their past. Me I have and always will have a bit of a problem with Texas no matter what. So whenever I hear folks say or do things I try to give them as much as a benifit as I can.

So if Eddie has talked to anyone like me, or has had a bad experience like myself I can see his bad opion of Texas, and the south in general, and with things like the guy getting dragged behind the pick-up happening there it really doesn't help out the Texas image any.

Wishing all of you good luck, and hope that you are winning. Because after all that is the main reason that we are in this forum in the first place is to make some KASH.

The last time I visited Oakland approximately 1 year ago, I got hit in the head with a brick because I was white. Is it still like that over there?

G-hawg:

First of all, I'm whiter than Dr. Freeze's ass. This whole discussion got started on the basis of many of our fellow posters who stated there beliefs that Ms. Yates should be killed, fried, placed into a woodchipper, etc. Many of such positions were held by Texans.

From there it evolved into stereotypes of southerners, lawyers, liberals and conservatives. It seems as though many of our mentally challenged friends here are willing to apply stereotypes to whom they perceive to be the common enemy, ie, lawyers, liberals, etc. Yet unwilling to apply the same stereotypes to who they are southern billies, facists, toothless, shoeless, uneducated bigots.

Are there nice people, liberals, moderates, Clinton voters, anti-death penalty people who live in Texas, of course. However, as stated in the third or fourth post that started this diatribe stated some lawyer will get Yates off or there will be some spin put on the case by a lawyer. Once again, these clowns attack then are offended when someone defends themselves and there profession.

I would no more want to be a black man in some small town in Texas than I would want to be a white man in Over the Rhine in Cincinnati last April during the riots in this town. I see a lot of racism in what I do for a living. I see both black and whites mistreated based upon race, gender, age, sexual preference or whatever.

This round em up and shoot cowboys who have posted on that thread are an example of small minded thinking. They need everything wrapped up in a neat little box so they can understand the world according to their respective bias'. Open your minds kids, most stuff in this wacky world is grey. Don't tune it out.

Eh, I read a few of your replys on other threads and WTF do you have against texans. You are obivious(sp) a democrat and that's why it appears that you're against the death penalty and therefore dislike texas and people from texas.

I wish I lived in a state that had "Real punshihment" for scumbags and it's liberals like you that are screwing up this country.

G-Hawg, I'm white and I see forms a racism everyday against every race and although I've never been to texas, I bet this happens in every state.

You sound like a southie. See there are even stupid people in Massachusetts. Texas does not have a lock on them. Can even think of one in Kansas.

What part of Oakland were you in? There are parts of this city that I would dare not go in. One must be aware of one's surroundings. Sorry to hear that.

Eddie Haskell you piece of shit if you insinuate that i am associated with anything to do with that you can bring your noise to Houston and meet me anywhere anytime and i will kick your ass tell you don't even know what color you were......."us" refers to people who weren't even born when racism was taking place so don't blame "us" (those who live in Texas now) for that sh+t

got it????

some of my best friends here are black and they would love to kick your ass too for trying to create problems!!!!

Let's just get one thing perfectly clear Eddie, since I'm too tired of dealing with you on a conventional level.

You jump in your Lexus and bring that same shit you're spewing down here to Texas where I live and I'll hand your head right back to you.

So you can sit there safely behind your screen all day and come up with cute little sardonic remarks about hillbillies and rednecks until your fingers bleed, but you and I know who the pussy is.

I am not and would never blame you or anyone in this forum for anything that's happened to me. Just lighten up and if are not guilty of something don't worry about it.

g-hawg,

I think any area will always contain a certain stereotype, just the way it is, unless of course there is some personal scar tissue from an experience (like yourself) and let's face it how could that not bias you or anyone. I have lived in many places in the big world (US and Europe) and have met good and bad people. The way I see it is that people are going to be people no matter what and in any lot there is always a few idiots. The sad part is it seems many folks get their opinion from hearsay and not actually living there.

BTW: Monk I was in Oakland two weeks ago and no bricks, damn it's getting warm in here I need a cool one;)
