I have just finished the "how does this happen thread." Man was that overwhelming! Would liked to have jumped in to ask a few questions but since I just read it I thought I'd ask them now.
First I am a Africian American male that was born in Ohio, we moved th Calif in 1961 when I was 9 years old (long time ago). Anyway my point is when my family drove through Texas I had my first encounter with racism at a motel. We were told that they did not rent rooms to "colored" folks. What a shock to me. Next incident was the next morning after sleeping in a car over night, we were hungry, so we stopped to get some food (still in Texas), we were told that they only served "colored " folks in the back. Mom and dad started to drive and we didn't stop till we got out of Texas. That was over 40 years ago and it was the first and the last time that I have experenced that type of overt racism.
So anyway I can understand why folks can have a bad opion of certain things because of what has happened to them in their past. Me I have and always will have a bit of a problem with Texas no matter what. So whenever I hear folks say or do things I try to give them as much as a benifit as I can.
So if Eddie has talked to anyone like me, or has had a bad experience like myself I can see his bad opion of Texas, and the south in general, and with things like the guy getting dragged behind the pick-up happening there it really doesn't help out the Texas image any.
Wishing all of you good luck, and hope that you are winning. Because after all that is the main reason that we are in this forum in the first place is to make some KASH.
