He had some convoluted story about using it for life expenses, but isn't it all the same? If you are in Vegas to make a living playing poker and don't make enough playing poker to afford your life bills and you use your bankroll to sustain your lifestyle it's all semantics.
He didn't make enough from poker and had to tap his roll to get by. Either way, he's bust which makes him a hero to the masses, somehow.
Good point about the bankroll.
I'm not sure about the "hero to the masses" comment but I think the fact that he is well liked has more to do about his humility and honesty.
You might be right. I could be way off, but it seems to me it's just jealousy. Trooper, I believe, was the first one to gain popularity doing what he is doing and he did something a lot of the trolls wish they could do. He chucked it all and went to Vegas underfunded to do it and is still making it work. I'm willing to bet the majority of his haters are wannabes from 2+2.
Again, some things you can't make up:
Trooper sells shirts and it's a clear sign he's busto and a terrible poker player.
Neeme (who I like) sells shirts.......crickets.
Trooper's Patreon is shameless begging and a sign he is a bum.
Kraut lists his Paypal address asking for donations and people run to say it's OK because he's on a downswing.
Trooper gets a job dealing for a while, not because he's broke but to make sure everything is stable and he is clearly a loser at poker and proof he can't make it.
Kraut gets a job driving Uber and it's a noble thing to do as downswings happen to everyone.
It really can't be much clearer that people are just rooting against Trooper because they are jealous of what he's done and wish they could do the same.
I'm not a fan of the Kraut either. He's a mooch.
I don't see anything wrong with using Patreon. If people want to contribute, let them contribute. Many people use Patreon and do very well with it. Kraut doesn't use it because they charge a fee so he posts his email for PP.
I don't understand why Trooper doesn't see that he did so much better playing 2/5. The 2/5 game fits his style so much better and he proved it when he played it for the few weeks he did. Wake up, Troop.
I think maybe he is not rolled for it and lack of game selection has him fearful.

Trooper is a know it all, he can have a thousand people give him the same advice but he won't take it.
