Saturday’s Den: Wrapping up a busy Friday…….
— Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes is a great player; with an 86-24 career record, 11-3 in playoff games, at age 28, he is on track to become one of the NFL’s best-ever quarterbacks.
Flashback six years to the 2017 NFL Draft; Mahomes was the 10th player taken, the second QB drafted that year.
Let’s take a look at the first 10 picks that year:
1) Browns- Myles Garrett, DE
2) Bears- Traded UP (they TRADED UP!!!) to take QB Mitchell Trubisky.
3) 49ers- Solomon Thomas, DE
4) Jaguars- Leonard Fournette, RB
5) Titans- Corey Davis, WR- Acquired this pick in a trade, when Rams traded up the year before to select Jared Goff.
6) Jets- Jamal Adams, S
7) Chargers- Mike Williams, WR
8) Panthers- Christian McCaffrey, RB- why did Carolina trade him????
9) Bengals- John Ross, WR- they made up for this by drafting Joe Burrow
10) Chiefs- Patrick Mahomes, QB
This is why the NFL Draft is so interesting to study; not everyone is going at it.
— Right now, the eight NFL teams leading their division have one thing in common; their starting quarterback has started all 14 games.
