two more episodes...supposedly,this thing winds up after 8 episodes and picks up next season with new lead characters and a new story(at least that`s what i`ve heard)....

that oughta be interesting to see how that works out - who plays new main characters.

I just caught the series premiere last night.

WOW -- that might be THE best series opening episode I've ever seen. Definitely looks to be a stellar looking show

from the opening_music to the pacing, characters/plot development -- was pretty impressed

other shows I've liked (and i'm sure to forget a couple) in semi order of fandom (very HBO and AMC heavy list)

*series is done
^most likely done, not sure if ever coming back

Breaking Bad*
Boardwalk Empire
Mad Men
Game of Thrones
Entourage*
Friday Night Lights*
Law & Order - Criminal Intent
The Hour (bbc)^
Ripper Street (bbc)^
Hell On Wheels
Archer
Sons Of Anarchy
Doctor Who (I actually just watched essentially the last 6 or so seasons on, On Demand)
How To Make It In America
Low Winter Sun

shows have been told are also great, just haven't seen/caught

The Wire
Dexter
Justified

to name a few

apparently ripper street DID in fact come back, as found 2 newer eps ON DEMAND. I couldn't get around to watchin'm just yet, but did thoroughly enjoy last / forst season of -- course this comin from someone who too, is entertained in watching Rick_&_Morty

i`m not sure that info is even available...might just be in the developmental stages....forget where i read it....

imo, that was 8 weeks well spent...authentic or not, gives you a sort of feel for old, rural ,depressed parts of louisiana and they really made it come to life(what an interesting place)....thoroughly engrossing and the final episode at that decaying home on the bayou was eerie, creepy(add your own adjective)...

every year i say i`m dumping hbo and they keep doing this kind of stuff....

became a bit maudlin at the end....but harrelson and mcconaughey were pretty fricking impressive....

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. He closed all the circles he needed too, and he left just enough darkness to keep us rattled. The perfect dessert was the final scene:

Rust: I tell ya, Marty, I been up in that room looking out that window every night here, just thinking?there?s just one story, the oldest.

Marty: What?s that?

Rust: Light versus Dark.

Marty: Well, I know we ain?t in Alaska, but it appears to me that the dark has a lot more territory.

...later

Rust: You know, you?re looking at it wrong, that sky thing.

Marty: How?s that?

Rust: Once there was only dark. If you?re asking me, the light?s winning.

The incredible detail that was found in this series is the stuff of legend. Instant fucking classic.

The worst South Park is still better than the best Family Guy. If you've seen 1, you've seen them all. Don't understand all the praise.

Not sure what show you were watching....show was good, but "instant classic" is laughable.....:mj07:

Show was slow as fuck the 1st 4 episodes, it picked up and finished well....solid 7.4 outta 10.

I'll have to watch it again. Sure, the finale was suspenseful but I was let down. Thinking back on it now maybe it was better than I originally thought. It still wasn't as good as I thought it would be though. I had high hopes. I'd give the series a B+ and the season finale a C+.

Again, your opinion is not given much weight. Try picking up a book and quit espousing your BS that shows like The Client List and reality TV are the best things going, and you might gain a little credibility.

IMDb score = 9.5

Did a quick search of some other heavyweight shows like The Sopranos, Game of Thrones and The Wire, and I couldn't find a higher rating. I suppose all of those people are delusional, too. Just stop digging yourself a deeper hole before your igloo falls under Chinese rule.

I thought the whole thing was brilliant. From beginning to end. I do however think it wasn't a good show for the ADD generation. It was slow, methodical and full of details that you really had to pay attention to or you would miss. I thought the writing and acting were both outstanding. The ending left a lot of things untied but IMO that's ok because it keeps people talking and allows them to interpret it based on how they feel about the show.

You and I have a similar take on this. Awesome, but methodical. The end was not neat and clean, but that's ok by me. I loved it, but can see how some action starved types would not. Was definitely surprised that Maggie and daughter weren't tied into it in the finale.

I grade it 5 out of 5. Others may have a different take than me, but that is natural since it is a matter of opinion.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!

:0008

Episode 1 - Great

Episode 2 - Loved it

Episode 3 - Okay

Episode 4 - Gets a little weird

Episode 5 - The end of the episode is awesome!

Episode 6 - Pretty good

Episode 7 - The ending is contrived and cliche'.

Episode 8 - Many things. The bit with the Sheriff is awesome. I hate the serial killer reveal. What a fuckin' baby. The moment in the civil war fort, while awesome - it is still a lesser villain. He's the guy? Really? How ignorant. The end of the episode with the two of them is okay - but really - all 7 episodes lead up to a shitty, fat, broke douche serial killer. Ugh.

All in all I liked it, but if I had stopped the series just before they enter "The house", I would have been better off.

Matthew McConaughey wants to return to his True Detective role

A third season ofTrue Detective is by no means a sure thing. HBO has an option for renewal, but has to give the official greenlight in the wake of season two?s less than favorable reception. Some might lay the blame on the fact that series creator/writer Nic Pizzolatto was left without his first season?s director, Cary Joji Fukunaga. Others might say it was missing a dash of McConaisauce.

Well, for those wishing to see the return of Detective Rust Cohle, there?s hope: Actor Matthew McConaughey recently expressed interest in reprising the part. In an interview on The Rich Elsen Show (via The Playlist), McConaughey spoke in detail about what it was like filming the series, and Eisen asked if he?d ever consider going back to the world of True Detective. With no hesitation and what sounded like true sincerity, the actor responded, ?Yeah, I would.?
