I think it will be Briles and would be suprised if it wasn't but if it's not then the next candidate is Chad Morris.(OC for Clemson) Would be a good match for several reasons but the biggest is that he's already been Michael Brewers coach. Brewer will be the starting QB for Tech next year. He's a guy that made two 4* QBs, that were a year older than him, transer out. I don't know anything about Morris other than the fact that he's been a fast riser thru the ranks.

Kingsbury will not be the guy unless several in front of him say no. IMO there would be a good chance he'll say no. Why walk from the QB he has and the chance to really make a big name for himself over the next 3 years. Unless Tech is where he considers home and wants to come back.

I don't know what player it was but he tweeted that he hated Morris at Stephenville and hopes he doesn't get the Tech job.

Joe, I'm not sure who that would have been. He coached at Lake Travis and is by far the most successful Texas High School coach during that period. Michael Brewer played for him there and they won so I he's basically the only guy I would care about saying that. The other two kids that played for Lake Travis are kickers and they can think whatever they want to think.

If Kingsbury comes to Tech mark it down that Morris will be the OC at A&M.

If Morris comes to Texas I won't mind. He has some deep ties to Texas high school coaches and we all know that helps in recruiting.

Tubs lied to us on day 1 and that continued to the day before he quit on the team. Everyone's dick got hard when Tuberville started talking about Championships but then he went and blamed the fucking wind in Lubbock Texas on why the offense had a bad day. Art Briles should have been our coach 3 years ago. Kliff will be given more time to produce than any of the other choices because he is one of "our guys"

Won't be disappointed if we get Briles, and if I recall correctly, He had a Tech HC Clause added to his contract. But damn they love him and are treating him great in Waco.

Chad Morris built a great Lake Travis program here in Austin. I wouldn't be disappointed with Morris

Neal Brown supposedly going to Kentucky. He would have received the Tuberville treatment as the next HC.

Monken same boat as Morris.

I like/liked Ruff but I don't think he would be a good fit coming back. He's moved on.

Josh, I wanted to keep Tubs around 1 more year to get another recruiting class in. IMO he sacrificed having good coaches for some coaches that are good recruiters. I like Prunty and he was a good recruiter for a couple of years but the fact is he dind't coach up our d line.

I'm starting to lean to the KK side. My big worry with Kliff is experience but even more so with who he would bring in to help him. I want Kliff or Art because their Tech guys. If those two don't work then I'm good with anyone outside of Venables.

It's between KK and Morris at this point.

I think Kliff will be the next coach. Too many people not wanting an Aggie to be the Tech coach.

I hear ya on Prunty, same with Chad Scott, but I disagree on Tubs sticking around. It's like saying one more round of chemo will help me lose some weight. Cut the Cancer now and let us get back to who we are. Brewer is a winner and we've just set our new 3 year mark today when he is a Senior. I acknowledge that we have some really good talent on our team and that's in large part due to Tuberville, but I'd trade Jace Amaro today for a win versus UT and Okie St. We used to be really good at recruiting players who had something to prove and showed it on the field. I'm not sure where you stand on the Amaro fiasco in the off season but his punishment was not as severe as I would have liked. I think that's in large part because of how highly recruited he was. "Pride & Prejudice should not overshadow reason" - Dan Brown

3 years ago against UT, facing a 4th and 20 from our own 10 yard line and less than 2 minutes to play in the game, Tubs decided to punt the ball instead of risking turning the ball over on our own 10 yard line. Then we didn't even use the 2 timeouts we had remaining. So he quit after 58 minutes. That's when he lost my support.

Here's the play by play, it's even worse than I remember. We did use 1 timeout.

Drive: 3 plays, 2 yards, TOP 00:58
Ttu 1-10 at Ttu09 TEXAS TECH drive start at 02:32.
Ttu 1-10 at Ttu09 Potts, Taylor pass incomplete to Swindall, Tram..
Ttu 2-10 at Ttu09 Potts, Taylor pass incomplete to Swindall, Tram. (Williams, Aaron).
Ttu 3-10 at Ttu09 Potts, Taylor pass complete to Torres, Alex for loss of 2 yards to the TTU7 (Williams, Aaron).
Ttu 4-12 at Ttu07 Lacour, Jon. punt 56 yards to the UT37, downed.
Drive: 3 plays, minus 2 yards, TOP 00:56

Ut 1-10 at Ut37 TEXAS drive start at 01:36.
Ut 1-10 at Ut37 Johnson, Cody rush for 1 yard to the UT38 (Smith, Scott).
Ut 2-9 at Ut38 Timeout Texas Tech, clock 01:30.
Ut 2-9 at Ut38 Johnson, Cody rush for 4 yards to the UT42 (Sonier, Tyrone).
Ut 3-5 at Ut42 Timeout Texas, clock 00:45.
Ut 3-5 at Ut42 Johnson, Cody rush for 2 yards to the UT44 (Phillips, Jarv.;Sonier, Tyrone).

He also lost our last game versus A&M and failed to grasp at how important that game was to the fan base, which is what he struggled most at during his tenure. He once said that a loss on the road is the same as a loss at home but obviously doesn't understand that we pay money to go see those home games and we sure as hell don't want to pay to see us lose.

The Money and chance to be Head Coach should be attractive enough to lure Kliff away from Johnny Freshman Football Heisman or whatever they are calling him these days. I like Art Kaufman but don't think he'll stick around. That will be the farthest set back in my opinion.

The timing is horrible but it is better to face the fallout today then tomorrow. I hope we can have something sewn up in the next 10 days. Then we can find out which recruits really want to come and go find others who want to win at Tech to replace those that bail.

I'm not asking for much - Bring in Dewayne Slay to run the defense. BJ can be the QB coach. Sticks can be our Special Teams Coach. Potts can be our Agility coordinator. Cumbie can pass out sunscreen at practice and keep his IR position. That's all us Leacher's want.

Josh, I was told by a guy that's pretty close with Kliff that he would take the job if offered.

If he could somehow convince Kaufman to stay then I would be a very happy camper. You would think Cumbie would stay on KK is the coach.

Add to it that a few years down the line you have to think that Welker would be coming back home to be the receiver coach. They could run their clothing business out of Lubbock. lol

Hahaha - I'd like that.

The decision will be interesting from Hocutt.

Morris is the short term solution and Tech would be a resume builder on his way to eventually getting to hia dream job in Aggie Land.

Kliff would be the long term solution and we will have to be patient as fans while he gains experience and gains the trust and respect of higher caliber coordinator's.

Kliff Kingsbury got the living shit beat out of him when we were learning Air Raid with undersized run blocking pass blockers. He picked himself up every time and never made a single excuse.

There seems to be overwhelming Kliff fan support so we'll see what Hocutt does. From a business stand point this is a rather tough decision for him

Thomsen named interim - Not a good sign for Kaufman, also guessing Brown is gone too

I had to read up on Thompsen, I didn't know much about him.

Thompsen and Cumbie should stick around, probably won't get asked to move to Ohio. I was always a fan of Lincoln Riley but he's got a good thing going with Ruff @ E Caro. He was a super recruiter who I felt actually helped as a coach.

Benny Wiley was another one I wish we had. The local news channel loves him just like we did because he brings excitement and energy to the television screen.

Past 12 yearsl - June Jones, Art Briles, Dana Holgorsen, Sonny Dykes...

This whole adventure gives me game day butterflies. Excited but nervous about what our next move is.

Yeah, Brown was officially named the UK OC. I wouldn't mind seeing Thomsen stay with the new staff.

Just read at a UK website where the Tech RB coach may be coming with Brown to Ky...first name was Chuch I believe, can't remember last name but think he use to play at UK, maybe with Brown?

Yeah Chad is a very good recruiter. He's directly tied to one of our 2014 recruits that I know we'll lose and it's going to hurt. QB Giddings(I think that's his last name) He's a top 250 player that is a dual threat QB. He would be a big get for them to start out their offense.

Chad Morris is going to be a HC somewhere soon. He's one of the best offensive minds in CFB. I damn sure don't want to see him at a&m. If KK gets the HC job at Tech, I don't see Morris making a lateral move to a&m as OC, even if it is his alma mater. He would be better served by staying at Clemson for one more year before he lands a HC job somewhere. Hell, I wish Texas would seriously consider him when/if Mack leaves.

Thanks for the help Josh. He should be one heck of an asset for Kentucky. I've been real impressed with Ky's hirings. I've always believed in defense first and then a strong rushing game. If you've got a stong defense you can about run any kind of offense provided your not too predicitable. But if you can't run the ball that well you need a really good passing attack that can set up the run. When you look at what Tech has done the last 10-12yrs, going against the likes of Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska, and others you have to be impressed. I only hope Ky can come close to that. Maybe everything will work out good for both programs, I sure hope so.

Josh, who do you want?

I can't decide. I think Briles and KK would be our best option. Not because they're better than Morris but because I know this is where they want to be. I'm not so sure Morris wouldn't leave us. I doubt A&M will open up anytime soon but if he came in, kicked ass and in two years the UT job came open then I'm pretty sure he would bolt if offered, Briles and KK wouldn't.

I guess I would want Briles because I know he's done nothing but win. KK will get there someday but I'm not sure he's there yet. I also think he would struggle to get a great staff in with him. That's my biggest worry with him.
