Josh, I wanted to keep Tubs around 1 more year to get another recruiting class in. IMO he sacrificed having good coaches for some coaches that are good recruiters. I like Prunty and he was a good recruiter for a couple of years but the fact is he dind't coach up our d line.
I'm starting to lean to the KK side. My big worry with Kliff is experience but even more so with who he would bring in to help him. I want Kliff or Art because their Tech guys. If those two don't work then I'm good with anyone outside of Venables.
I hear ya on Prunty, same with Chad Scott, but I disagree on Tubs sticking around. It's like saying one more round of chemo will help me lose some weight. Cut the Cancer now and let us get back to who we are. Brewer is a winner and we've just set our new 3 year mark today when he is a Senior. I acknowledge that we have some really good talent on our team and that's in large part due to Tuberville, but I'd trade Jace Amaro today for a win versus UT and Okie St. We used to be really good at recruiting players who had something to prove and showed it on the field. I'm not sure where you stand on the Amaro fiasco in the off season but his punishment was not as severe as I would have liked. I think that's in large part because of how highly recruited he was. 3 years ago against UT, facing a 4th and 20 from our own 10 yard line and less than 2 minutes to play in the game, Tubs decided to punt the ball instead of risking turning the ball over on our own 10 yard line. Then we didn't even use the 2 timeouts we had remaining. So he quit after 58 minutes. That's when he lost my support.
Here's the play by play, it's even worse than I remember. We did use 1 timeout.

He also lost our last game versus A&M and failed to grasp at how important that game was to the fan base, which is what he struggled most at during his tenure. He once said that a loss on the road is the same as a loss at home but obviously doesn't understand that we pay money to go see those home games and we sure as hell don't want to pay to see us lose.
The Money and chance to be Head Coach should be attractive enough to lure Kliff away from Johnny Freshman Football Heisman or whatever they are calling him these days. I like Art Kaufman but don't think he'll stick around. That will be the farthest set back in my opinion.
The timing is horrible but it is better to face the fallout today then tomorrow. I hope we can have something sewn up in the next 10 days. Then we can find out which recruits really want to come and go find others who want to win at Tech to replace those that bail.
I'm not asking for much - Bring in Dewayne Slay to run the defense. BJ can be the QB coach. Sticks can be our Special Teams Coach. Potts can be our Agility coordinator. Cumbie can pass out sunscreen at practice and keep his IR position. That's all us Leacher's want.
