Josh, who do you want?

I can't decide. I think Briles and KK would be our best option. Not because they're better than Morris but because I know this is where they want to be. I'm not so sure Morris wouldn't leave us. I doubt A&M will open up anytime soon but if he came in, kicked ass and in two years the UT job came open then I'm pretty sure he would bolt if offered, Briles and KK wouldn't.

I guess I would want Briles because I know he's done nothing but win. KK will get there someday but I'm not sure he's there yet. I also think he would struggle to get a great staff in with him. That's my biggest worry with him.

I just got off the phone with my buddy (That's a shout out Lee 'Dre') who said he had been reading our back and forth. The best quote he had was "Briles isn't out until Briles says he's out"

My order - right now is
1 Briles
2 Kingsbury
3 Morris

The deciding factors
Briles - Long Term, Best Coordinators, 2nd best fan base uniter, Very High Recruiting, Best Fundraiser
Kliff - Longest Term, Worst (least exp.) coordinators, Best Fan Base Uniter, Downgrade Recruting (in the short term) Worst Fundraiser
Morris - Short Term, Above Avg coordinators, There will still be a split in the fan base, Good Recruiting, Decent Fundraising

Age wise it is so damn interesting that we have Briles @ 57, Morris @ 43 and Kliff @ 33

I take Morris out cause he won't last 10 years @ Tech, but in ten years, Briles will be thinking about retiring and Kliff will be moving in to his prime with many years in front of him. It's why Hocutt has such a tough decision. If he hires Kliff, he will be able to say, I hired the winningest head coach in Texas Tech History, cause I think Kliff will be around for 25 years. Briles might get there in 10 years.

Championships - I actually think Morris gives us the best chance to win the Big XII in the next 5 years just because this is a resume builder for him. It's soul selling and JuCo recruiting type winning. Briles would be next, then Kliff.

What I hate is that some Leachers are going to be against Briles which is crazy to me. Briles isn't a given either, he has a lot going for him in Waco and I need Kirby to know whether he is going to accept the offer before offering it to him.

Any of those 3 and I'm :00hour :00hour :00hour :toast: :toast: :toast:

That's exactly how I feel. I think most people feel the same way but lean towards one guy or the other because having stronger feelings on one of the things you brought up.

I don't however think Leachers will be against Briles. Maybe I'm wrong but why would they be? Leach thought enough of Art to bring him to Tech.

I wonder who the mystery candidate is? I think Briles is really wanting to stay under the radar on this to protect himself just in case he stays with Baylor. If he wasn't interested then you would think that we would have heard from him by now. If I was a Baylor fan then I would want to hear that from him knowing that he's a Tech guy and always wanted to be the HC there.

Sonny as mystery candidate and wanting to stay under the radar just for same reasons as Briles.

I like Sonny and wish him well but I can't say that he would be above the three we've mentioned.

Tech needs a coach... Maybe it's Rich Rodriguez :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

I only say that about Leachers because of the KK love all over the message boards. After the last 3 years I think the fans are expecting Kirby to make a decision that they want. I know that doesn't make any sense but that's where I think we've gotten to as a split University. There will be Hance Hates Kingsbury rumors.

One last thing from earlier - My buddy also said with Mack maybe being gone in the next 5 years, Morris would probably leave Tech to take a job at UT or A&M.

I like Sonny and wish him well but I can't say that he would be above the three we've mentioned.

That's my sentiments as well. I wouldn't be disappointed if Sonny is picked but I'd rather have Morris over Dykes. Rather have Kliff over Morris. And rather have Art over KK.

One thing I do have to say about Dykes. I thought he did a great job of making a name for himself outside of what Spike accomplished. He went to work with Leach and embraced his philosophy and learned more than option left/right which is what his dad did. He has obviously tweaked it to fit his style but it is quite an accomplishment that he did it while not following his Dad's mold.

If only Pat Knight had tried that... I guess Spike wasn't as heavy handed...

I can remember the day a long time ago when I got a call saying our coach was Rich Rod. I got excited about it only to hear he signed with WVU and now we had Leach. It took me a long time to like Leach. I think I really embraced him when I went back to a game in Lubbock after several years away and saw what he had done with the fans and how they loved him. It was a different place from when I had left and it was something that I liked seeing. Tubs never made that his house, hopefully our new coach will.

I'll like the hire once I hear who his DC and other staff is going to be. I've been told he's looking at the Utah State DC for the same position at Tech. Aranda I believe is his name and I know nothing about him.

Didn't know the Aranda guy was a GA at Tech. Makes sense now.

Gonna be an uptick in Baby births for Lubbock Tx come September 2013

Heard Kevin Curtis, who's at La Tech has also been a rumored D Coord

The other rumor was then to promote Cumbie to OC and you have 3 former players coaching the team.

Probably a little overzealous

I need to read up on both Defensive guys cause I haven't followed them much on the D side of the ball

Josh, I don't know that between my phone, text and FB that I've ever received that many messages celebrating something dealing with Tech. Maybe the 08 win vs. UT but nothing else has even been close.

I do not think he's the best COACH we could have hired but IMO Kirby made the right decision and I'm excited about the future.

I'm playing in an Alumni High School Game in February and we had practice last night. I had 31 messages between 7pm and 9pm. Red Raiders, a few Longhorns and one very dejected Aggie.

With this quote, "I know what I've done and I know what I'm about to do" Kliff instantly brought back that us against the world mentality. Poor Aggies thought the worst thing we had ever done to them was shoving the goal posts up their... stands

I'm going to be in Port A during the bowl game with some in-laws. If it was a day game, I'd leave them behind and make a trip of it but with it being a 3 hour drive and an 8pm game, I think I'll end up just watching at the condo or a bar.

Ready to get our coaches in place and our recruits signed. Wreck 'em
