Coach, I don't know if you've been reading up on the training camps for Nog or not but there are a lot of rumors right now that he's been KOd several times in sparring.(grain of salt because they are rumors) After the way he looked vs Herring and then Mir I'm not so sure that Randy won't ko him. I think Randy keeps this thing standing, maybe up against the fence. I see no reason why Randy would go to the ground outside of some end of the round scoring. If that's the case, I don't think Nog can win. His stand up has looked like absolute crap lately.

I know Bucs or whoever it was will come in and argue about fighters losing their abilities to take punches but Nog seems to be at the top of the list. There is no way in hell at this point I could back him.

I did not hear that, thanks for the knowledge. may need to find a better bet. Hague possibly? Also since Jardine lost last time doesnt he have to win here to keep his streak alive?

Absolute crap card.

I do want to see Nate vs Maia but other than that this card is a joke.

I'm really starting to wonder about the UFCs choices in fighters.

I actually like the card...it's full of fights where we will see where some fighters stand in their respective divisions. Especially Vera/Krystof and Maia/Marquardt...

I don't mind the card, can't judge a card until it is done. I don't care who is fighting, if fights are exciting that's all I care about. As I have said many times, cards that "look great" can turn out to be "bad" and cards that "look bad" can turn out to be "great".

Looking forward to Demian Maia vs. Nate Marquardt and Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Brandon Vera, can't wait for those fights:) :box2:

So true!

Not really....

Anyways, I like Nog, Vera, Silva, and Maia...

Nog fight I'm almost 100% sure goes the distance...

I think Silva, Vera finish their fights, and I'd love to see Maia just run through Marquardt..

What's up Bucs. Good to see you chiming in. Hope all is well with you these days.

I am interseted in same fights but not thrilled about the card. Nog/Couture might be a snoozer.
Nog says he is going old school Nog which should mean takedowns telling me his chin may just be very suspect in training.
Nog stamina has really been pathetic of late as well.
I think he tires again and Randy gets the KO in the late 2nd or 3rd.

EHhh, gettin there bro, thanks!

I don't see anyone getting KO'd in the main event...it's gonna be a decision, and that's the best money, IMO...mainly because I think this fight spent on the ground atleast 50% of the time...

Leittes couldn't submit Nate what makes everyone think Mia can? Mia stand up is basically a none factor. Give me Nate for a medium wager.

Sponge, Maia's bjj is on another level from Leites. If it goes to the ground Nate will be sub'd(and I really like Nate and think he's a great fighter). I would be all over Maia but I worry that he won't be able to get Nate down.

Bucs, why do you think the Randy vs Nog fight will be on the ground 50% of the time? I doubt Randy wants to take a chance there, especially when his standup is probably a little better than Nogs. I don't see Nog being able to take Randy to the ground, Randy should be able to control where this fight goes. I could be wrong though, Randy could decide he wants to gnp Nog but IMO that would be stupid and would give Nog his only chance to beat Randy.

imo,the old nog beats randy....but this nog?.......obviously not the same guy(although i expect a much more intense performance than the mir debacle)........

they say guys get old overnight...sure looks like nog fills that bill...lately,he even takes terrible beatings in his wins...

i`m not a huge randy fan...but it sure looks like he has more i the tank...but as we all know, anything can happen with the small gloves on...

2009 record 22-13 +33.17 units

I think 10 of my losses are my .5 unit plays, they absolutely are crap I tell you.

Rosholt +120 1unit
Couture -165 1unit

Jake will win, people will hate it because it will be boring and Chris will bitch because he didn't get beat up, he just got laid on.

I'll be on Maia as well, I just can't decide how much for. I hate to go against Nate because he's a fighter I really like but I think Maia is a special fighter(at least until he gets ko'd)

I don't think there is any way Randy wants this on the ground and I agree that Nog will have a tough time getting Randy to the mat. I think they stand and punch and Nog runs out of gas like he has in all 3 UFC fights. He has found a second wind in the fights with Sylvia and Herring to steal wins. Mir showed that you can finish him with ease once he gasses if you bring it. I think Randy will do the same. If not then this goes the distance and Randy gets the decision. Unless Nog is indeed capable of getting some takedowns and gnp or even a submission(which I doubt).

medium bets for these:

couture -160
marquardt -163
duffee -140
simpson +119

i see couture as the bernard hopkins of mma. both emphasize maintaining a narrow weight range, year round conditioning and technique. neither guy has suffered a lot damage in their career either.

i don't see guys who follow that formula getting old overnight, they usually lose it slowly. guys who get old overnight are those who rely on such things as durability or athleticism.

i think it's evident that nogueira's over reliance on his chin has put him on a precipitous decline.

he had a knee injury and was recovering from a staph infection vs. mir, so without those problems he should have better endurance vs. couture, however, his brain won't be better. in fact, it should be worse after the beating he took from mir.

also, rumor is that he's been koed while sparring boxing at roach's gym. my bet isn't based on the rumor, but it makes feel more secure.

i don't feel like writing much more, but as far as my other bets, marquardt and simpson are better wrestlers and strikers than their opponents and duffee is huge and relentless.

taking simpson at +115...

already have silva at +170....so i did a little hedge with a jardine/marquardt and cantwell(ufc 103..09/16) parlay at almost 3-1....

already have randy at even money, but,i`m reconsidering this wager....always thought that nog was much better than couture, but recent performance was the reason i took randy...

i`ve seen nog take a beating(and look like a shot fighter) in his last 3,so i haven`t quite made up my mind yet.....

have nate parred with junior dos santos(-100) in ufc 103 at better than 2-1...i think that crocop looks a shell of his former self...

was looking at catone(+170)....think he`s beaten a few "semi-real" fighters already......munoz has a natural weight advantage but he`s coming down from 205 to 185 for the first time......could be a detriment as easily as an advantage...munoz could be a tad over-hyped coming out the wec...

also considering rosholt, but theres not much value there....prolly a no-go on the last two......
