Thiago Silva Injured, Out of UFC 117 Bout with Tim Boetsch
Posted by Kris Karkoski on Jul 27, 2010 at 1:26 pm
Just a week-and-a-half before UFC 117, Thiago Silva has been forced to withdraw from his preliminary matchup with fellow light heavyweight Tim Boetsch at the August 7 event in Oakland, California with a back injury, MMA Weekly reports.

Silva (14-2) was slated to return to action after dropping a unanimous decision to former champ Rashad Evans in January for his second loss in three fights after beginning his career with 13-straight wins, including four UFC victories.

Boetsch (11-3) was released by the UFC after falling to 2-2 inside the Octagon with a unanimous decision loss to Jason Brilz at UFC 96, but has since won three-straight to earn another shot with the promotion.

A search is now underway to find a replacement to meet Boetsch on the UFC 117 prelims.

The UFC 117 fight card is headlined by middleweight champ Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen, and also features welterweight contenders Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch and Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida.

i think he was calling Forrest non athletic :mj07: Who the hell knows. He takes shots at anyone. even Mia who beat him. He thinks he beat Mia :mj07: Love his confidence tho. He aint no joke. I love his last line about the one sided pounding and he is carrying the hammer :142smilie What he did to Nate the great you have to respect that. That was a one sided pounding that nobody saw coming.

I like Sonnen, and I think he is doing a great job "getting in Anderson's head". Sonnen's only shot at winning is for Anderson to come at him. Anderson may just go after him.

Great trash talk from Sonnen, it just may work.

Also, it is beyond me how anybody could cheer for that prick Anderson. He ain't at the Nick Diaz level, but Anderson is slowly moving into the "asshole realm".

Sonnen will gas out Anderson if he gets him into the fifth round. Of course that will be hard to do. Anderson doesn't take training that seriously anymore (he is so fucking cocky he doesn't train nearly as hard as he should).

I will be on Sonnen because the odds are so outta wack. Keep in mind you never know what that prick Anderson will do when he gets in the cage. As I stated, Sonnen is goating Anderson with the trash talk. It might work. Anderson relies on counter punching. And something tells me the Sonnen trash talk will bring Anderson forward.

I think Sonnen wins by decision. That is pretty much his only chance of winning. Win one round in 1 2 or 3. And win 4 and 5.

Go Sonnen Go

And fuck you Anderson you cocky prick.

Since this is the MMA News forum, I'll share a couple of newsworthy items:

1) My girlfriend's younger brother is the spitting f'ing image of Dustin Hazelett. It's uncanny. The only difference is that her brother probably has 50 - 60 pounds on ol' Dusty.

2) If I was an MMA fighter and my name was Rick Story, you can bet your ass my nickname would be 'Neverending.' Rick 'Neverending' Story... that would be the greatest MMA nickname ever. :SIB

3) No, I haven't been drinking... yet.
