Not a bad card despite the apparent weak main event.

The Vera/ Silva line really sticks out to me. Silva has more power and the better BJJ but Vera is quicker and a better range of strikes at his disposal. Plus that Greco background makes him hard to take down

Will be betting max on Maynard.

I'm not a big Silva or Vera fan but in a 3 round fight I'll take Silva. More than anything I feel like Vera is a hard guy for the judges to score.

Have to favor Maynard but consider this. Edgar was underdog to Penn twice, Sherk, Griffin and Spencer and he beat all. Personally I think he is to small for Maynard but he is the ultimate dog winner in the UFC:00x32

Ukgaz, I know man. Edgar is very good and I had him in several of those fights. The main thing I consider is that it wasn't close in their first fight. He got man handled and I think it happens again. If it was a 3 round fight then I wouldn't favor Maynard so much. When breaking down the fight that I'm going big on I always look for a few things.

1. My guys chin vs the other guys power
2. My guys ability to control the fight for more rounds.
3. Gas tank
4. Will my guy be ready for the fight or is it a fight that won't have his full attention.

I have no worries about Maynards chin vs Edgars power. IMO Maynard has the ability to control at least 3 rounds with his wrestling. I don't need all five, just 3. I'm not sure Edgar can get up once he's taken down, especially in the later rounds once Maynard has leaned on him.(size should come in to play here) So if Maynard can a td one time in three different rounds then I like my chances. Both have good gas tanks so I don't see that coming in to play. It's for the belt so motivation should be high on both sides but of all my criteria this one does scare me the most. Does Maynard think he'll do the same to Edgar as last time or is he studying and trying to improve for this fight as well.

On the Edgar side I will say I worry he's learned what GSP knows now and that's if you are a better striker than the other guy then it just makes your wrestling and TDs much better.

seein` lots of gomi love...and he was a personal fave of mine in pride...his fight with nick diaz i have on tape....

but,doesn`t this just scream,"bad style match-up"?.....


guida will make some perfunctory stand-up effort early,but he`ll inevitably(and quickly) sell his soul to the devil getting gomi on the mat....

he may look like a cavemen,but his fight i.q. is 10 times that of tyson griffin...

leaning guida...but not totally convinced...

Huge Gomi fan. Probably in my top 3 of all time favorites

I'm back and forth on who I think will win. Gomi can KO him and I don't think we have to worry about a submission win. Looking at Gomi's defeats all have better submissions than Guida - BJ, Aurelio, Kitaoka, Florian, Hansen. The Golyaev loss was a 1 in 10 situation

But how has Gomi been training. Is he still training in the US?

Guida has never faced anyone who hits as hard as Gomi. Gomi by uppercut as Guida shoots?:shrug:

Thought it'd be fun to run a simulation in ufc undiputed 2010. The only fights possible were vera v silva and maynard v edgar because some fighters arent in the game.

This is going to be about Silva's ability to catch Vera's kicks and take him down. Silva is a knucklehead, but I think he knows his real chance at winning is pounding him out on the ground. If Silva looks for the one punch KO, this goes to decision and Vera wins 30-27.

I like Maynard, Vera, Gomi in 125. Thinking about parlaying the three. Great value in Vera should be close and he's +130. Same goes for Gomi +130 and coming off a sweet KO on Tyson Griffin. Also gotta support the old PRIDE guys. There's no way Maynard loses this one he'll have soo much confidence after already beating Edgar once.

What has Vera shown that has everyone on him? Because he is a dog? If Silva is healthy and this is a big IF, there is no way i could take Vera. Who has Vera beat recently that has everyone pro Vera? A 47 year old Coulture? Every time he steps up he loses. I am well aware Vera lost the bore fest him and Randy had. If i knew Silva's back was 100 percent i think i would jump all over him. Everyone seems to be buying into Vera's bull back in the day on how he was the next big thing. Waiting for Vera to somehow reappear when in hindsight he was beating stiffs. He is coming off a battered face. Has to make him even more conservative then he was in his recent bouts which were terribly conservative. Heck an out of shape bad back Silva almost beat Rashard. Just my humble opinion.

I never had an avatar in my life. The Sponge name was created by seeing a sponge on my desk and calling myself The Sponge. I never even knew who Sponge bob was until FDC posted one as his avatar. Im not sold on Frankie to win. I don't see him getting tossed around like last fight but i won't be betting money on him either. I lean to Maynard in this fight even tho i said Frankie doesn't get much love on this site. If i bet ya and i lose then i will have to learn how to put an avatar on my post. If i learn that then Kickserv will demand i learn how to post pictures and video's. :SIB
