I could see Diaz getting that round, but he didn't clearly win that round in my eyes. It is what it is. That was a great fight to watch and the third one will be entertaining as well.

That's what we said as well (about the 2nd being the deciding round) and went back and re-watched the fight

2 reasons we gave Notorious the 2nd round
1 - He built off his dominant 1st round
2 - He lost the last 90 seconds but won the 1st 3:30

On Nate's side the last punch is the one you remember so he may have been able to steal the 2nd round had the 1st 3:30 been closer. My opinion it was not.

We didn't see any 10-8 rounds

It was a fun fight - There were a handful of Ohhhhh's on clean shots and elbows from both fighters.

Nate is probably happier about having a 3rd pay day than the pain of a loss. Believe that MotherFuckers

I'll take these little parlays any day of the week to the Promised Land to get a week's ration of timbits rather than bet $6000 to win 70 dollars

Looks like all 3 judges had the 5th round to Diaz, all 3 also had the 2nd go to Conor.

So basically the 2nd round was the deciding round. I though Diaz clearly won that round lol

Nate was good in the last 2 minutes of round 2 but was dominated in the first 3 and also knocked Nate to the ground with a shot. I think putting Nate on the ground was the deciding factor of round 2

Thanks bleed for the winner!

Have to agree with kick on McGregor being overrated.. I always thought Nate was weak and never thought of him as nothing more than a gate keeper and am shocked at his recent success and hype train that these two fights have given him. If McGregor was something special he would have destroyed Nate, esp his second time around. Props to both for putting on a show thou. Can't wait to cash in on McGregor getting knocked out when he fights someone more dangerous

So if he "dominated" the first 3 minutes of round 2, how in the world wasn't round 3 scored 10-8 all around? Because Conor was dominated for 5 whole minutes and almost stopped.

I guess I really don't care who won because it'll just be nice to have a reason to tune in again in a few months to watch a 3rd fight. The way the UFC is anymore, I'm more interested in big fights, entertaining fights.

I'm not sure you actually see that many 10-8 rounds to be honest. In your eyes he might have been almost stopped but he never went down and I think that's a big thing in the judges eyes. Was he exhausted yes but I don't think it should have been 10-8.

What I don't understand is Conor's cardio. He wasn't striking a ton and used more leg kicks than anything so why did he tire so quickly. I know what Rogan was saying about what Cruz said but he doesn't throw big hay makers. That's a big concern going forward and I think you'll see a lot of guys in 5 rounders versus Conor being very cautious in the first 1.5 rounds. If you know he'll blow his wad then sit back and let him do it. I'm not sure we've ever seen a guy that has a bad gas tank all of the sudden start being able to fight longer.

The fight had some flaws but I love when fights go back and forth. As bad as Conor looked in the 3rd he was able to bounce back in the 4th which is amazing to me. Why Nate looked so flat in the 4th is strange.

Thankfully those two will not fight one another ever again.

And a year from now Conor will have lost a bunch of fights and he'll be done.

I know little about MMA other than I won on CM last night, but was he not fighting up a class or two in order to fight Diaz? How can you say he is garbage and not pound for pound great when he is going above his class to fight people?

Nate Diaz wasn't in his weight class either.

And Nate isn't very good at 155 either.

Conor isn't garbage, but he's nowhere close to Top 15 pound for pound, hell maybe not even Top 20 pound for pound. Hell you could say he's not even Top 25 pound for pound.

Watch where he is 1 year from now, just watch.

The dude marketed himself nicely and made a ton of money, I give him props for that, but he's a fraud when it comes to talent.

Just watch what happens to Conor in the next 365 days, just watch.

Conor has one great win, yes one, that's it, although it was a huge win, I'll give him props for that.

I think the Mendes fight should've shown people how to beat CM. But for whatever reason, people went away from that strategy. Who knows? Mendes would've beat CM on a full fight camp. Mendes basically gassed because he had no time to prepare.

I do agree with your assessment on his cardio. Super weird that he gassed starting in that 2nd round because he wasn't really exerting a lot of energy(or so it appeared so). Diaz does control the Octagon and constantly pressure's you, just like his brother does. So maybe it's just the constant moving?

CM would get smoked by any top 15 170'er

CM would get smoked by any top 10 155'er

CM @ 145 he has the power advantage, but I think someone like Edgar really would've took his heart. Not sure Aldo has the pysch or the style to do that. Although I do still think Aldo is the better fighter who just fought careless in that 1st fight, and simply got beat to the punch.

You could be right. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go on a streak...of losses :mj07:

I'm not sure why people don't think Connor is great but to each his own. Does he have holes, yes but so do a lot of guys. Anderson had holes in his game and we always said if someone takes him down and keeps him down the he'll be in trouble. Even when that happened he managed to win. Connor is beating the guys that he gets in the cage with. Every fight it's "he's going to lose" and after every fight there is an excuse as to why he didn't. The guy has moved up in weight classes like not many have done. Too many of these fighters are chicken chit and will only fight in their class. I applaud him for taking chances. Also, I don't know how anyone can say Nate is not a good fighter. His resume is as good as any fighter out there when it comes to who he's fought. Yes he's lost but his losses in the last few years are only to very good fighters and he's beaten some very good fighters. The dude is a flat out beast and brings it every fight. I can't stand him but looking at who he's fought and is willing to fight make me respect him.

Connor isn't going on any losing streak. He may lose one fight but the guys striking is some of the best we've ever seen and will win most fights for him.

If he continues to fight the sub par competition then no (he has one great win), if he fights the guys at the top in his next three fights he sure as fuck will.

Conor isn't garbage, he's good, but nowhere close to the top.

And if you think Nate Diaz is a top 20 pound for pound fighter then so be it, but he isn't, I wouldn't even put him in the Top 50.

Oh and the whole "I went up weight classes" is crap, he fought Nate Diaz twice, big fucking deal, look at Nate, he's some beast. Plus Conor camp said he'd never fight at 145 again, his "going up in class" to fight Nate Diaz is a mute point, it wasn't like it was a big jump and hell is own camp said it was unhealthy for him to fight at 145.

Oh and speaking of his camp, he said he spent millions on his "new camp", yet he gassed out in 7 minutes, money well spent:mj07:

Just watch where Conor is a year from now........watch the losses pile up, you can only live off your one huge win (and it was a big win and he deserves massive props for that) for so long. You can't keep fighting Nate Diaz over and over again, the losing streak is coming.

Is Conor a good fighter, yes he is, is Conor great for MMA, yes he is, is Conor a great promoter of himself, yes he is, is Conor going to get exposed, yes he is.
