all in all, this is a pretty pathetic PPV. Behind GSP/Serra, there's no star lust for watching this event. I know Franklin is in it, but he should be able to handle Lutter.

The only other fight I thought would be good to see is Stout and Clementi.

Bisping's a tool.

Exactly.. i dont like dana white's strategy to pack the card full of hometown boys.. there are a bunch of big name fights that could have been on this card.

this card isnt worth the standard PPV charges.. looks like im goin to the local sports bar.

im excited for Canada, though... just dont want their fans to feel ripped off whether it's local fighters or not.

If you are Canadian this card is amazing.......doesn't always have to be about Americans ya know....and I disagree, very very smart for Dana White to pack it full of Canadians!

Tickets sold out in like half a second and it is nuts how many people are driving from Toronto to watch the fights live....you are damn right it better be full of Canadians:00hour

And besides, the bottom line is that it is all about GSP....that place would have been sold out just for the GSP fight....the other fights mean very little compared to the GSP fight....he is a god in Canada, I assure you, there will be no louder crowd in UFC history when GSP walks into the octagon:scared

Also, we Canadians will be cheering like crazy for every Canadian fighter that night, so THAT is why I think the UFC got it right, more Canadians the better!

Although with all that being said I would like to see the Stout fight on the main card as well. I have to say there have been some "main card" fights in the past UFC's that have boggled the mind. Some prelim's should have been main card fights!!!

kick, i agree with your comments to an extent, i just feel like some of the bouts could be more competitive.. Most american-held events manage to include people from all over the globe... just my thoughts.

I have two small plays on two BIG DOGS April 19th:

Mark Bocek +400

Matt Serra +350

GL all

True, but one major difference....this is the first event in Canada and the UFC is trying to legalize it in Ontario. So you have to get as much Canadian content as possible. Just my opinion:SIB

oh and just send me the the money that ya put on Serra....sorry couldn't resist :mj07:

as for Bocek...right there with ya....odds too good to pass up....also look out for Jason Day at big odds:SIB

Well said, kick. And GSP should be on every card ever held in Canada until his retirement... and everybody loves GSP for that matter. what is not to like about him?

Bocek is a masterful grappler and definitely has a chance at those odds..

GSP/Serra will go the distance.. :firing: :firing:

What might u know about Jason Day?? I have never heard of him...

I have seen Bocek in person at a few high end grappling contests and the guy is a phenom on the ground BUT his skills don't seem to translate for MMA. Getting hit changes some guys skill sets. I hope Bocek wins but I think Danzig is too well rounded.

In my opinion, the best 2 bets are Kalib and Lutter.
Quarry does not seem to be himself since Rich flattened him.
If Lutter can force this fight to the ground, he has a great chance.

I am not betting on the GSP fight as I think he will win but the odds are too shitty to bet. If I had to wager, it would be on Serra. He proved he can hurt George standing and he is good on the ground.

As I will be going to the Bell Centre, I don't want to get my head kicked in by my fellow Canadians, including my own friends, while jumping for joy for winning money on Serra.

I won't bet and will be screaming for GSP.:00hour

Like Bucks says this card is below average and Kick you better hope those ticket sales relate to Pay per view buys or you can forget about this show coming to Canada again. GSP as the headliner tho will help on this angle. If Bisping can carry a card anyone can. If this goes the distance there better not be one of those Canadian decisions you guys are famous for.:mj07:

You're pretty dead on about the PPV buys. At the end of the day, that's what the UFC is all about. Of course they'd love to sell out every venue, but you MUST sell PPV buys.

gee really...they need to sell PPV's.....nahhh say it ain't so :mj07:

and they'll do just fine with the PPV for this event....it is getting major press here in Canada, plenty will be buying the PPV.... I mean the province of Quebec alone will be nuts for the GSP fight, they'll be all over the PPV! And Dana White has already stated that this is the biggest UFC to date and they will be back in Canada "very soon". He was on the radio here and said he 100% guarantees they'll be back in Canada:SIB

As for me I am trying to go....doesn't help that 1837 has to rub it in.....prick:mj07:

I have posted in the general forum, asking if anyone else is going......was planning on robbing them for their tickets:mj07:

rawli007.......

Jason Day will be a massive underdog, and I'll be all over him, sure if I had a gun to my head I wouldn't bet him, but he'll definitely be worth a shot at massive odds. In his last 10 fights he has only lost once, and in that one he looked good against Patrick Cote until he got caught. His last win was against David Loiseau, and he knew if he won he'd get a shot at the UFC, he "stepped up" and beat Loiseau. Plus he got in his car drove all the way from Canada to Vegas and met with Joe Silva (UFC matchmaker). The guy has won 9 outta 10 matches and will be fighting in front of the home crowd and will have nothing to lose, nobody expects him to win. Gotta love massive dogs in the UFC, and he is one of em:SIB

no problem.......I have done quite well on big dogs in MMA, I mean you can lose three fights and hit one big dog and have a big night of $$$:SIB

and as ya know, always seems to be one big dog payoff per card:SIB

UFC 83 looks like a good "big dog" card (except for Serra of course!)....be curious to see what odds will be on Day....I think he'll be a huge dog!

I am listening to him on radio right now......he seems to be ready for Belcher, doesn't sound intimidated in the least.......and as I said Jason Day is experianced, he has fought all over the world and has lots of fights on his record and has beat 3 UFC vets in his last 3 fights. Belcher is damn good, but Day is one tough dude, I assure you this guy will give Belcher all he can handle, well worth the shot at the big (I am assuming big) odds!
