Rich Franklin or Dan Henderson are said to be top choices for the US team. Either of which will mop the floor with Michael Bisping.

i think i give Bisping the respect he deserves as an MMA fighter. he is quite well-rounded, and i admire his conditioning and the positive image he brings to the sport. there are a lot of things that bother me about him as a fan, though.

First and foremost, i think he's been treated like a sissy from the UFC. it is quite clear that he is the UFC's English posterboy... not including the TUF finale, this will be his 4th of 7 fights w/ a MAJOR homefield advantage :scared Imagine Chuck Liddell fighting 4 out of 7 fights in San Luis Obispo, or Wanderlei/Shogun getting 4 out of 7 fights in Brazil :scared .......... also, his quality of oppenents has been weaker than most, IMHO. I mean look at a guy like Lauzon that fought Florian and Pulver as two of his first few fights in the UFC.

a poster from another forum had this to say about Bisping, and i tend to agree.......

I think all of you miss the mark a bit when you think it's just because of the Hamil fight. It wasn't the Hamil fight in itself. It was all of the stuff leading up to it, the fight, and then the shit he spewed after he barely won the fight and was being outclassed on his feet by a 'guy that couldn't even strike a match' (as Bisping stated in one of his interviews before the fight). After he won the decision, which I didn't believe he won (even when I was a fan), he started yelling "I kicked his ass!" on the microphone. This was after he hammered Hamil with accusations of being an 'egomaniac' in that same interview. That was when I dropped him as a favorite fighter down to one of my least favorite fighters, and that was also when most of the crowd (in his home country, I might add) started to boo him. That's why everyone thinks that he's a hypocritical douchebag with a gigantic, yet relatively unfounded ego.

Bisping also made another comment, something along the lines of "go back to wrestling, Hammill!"

I agree that he hasn't fought the toughest competition the UFC has to offer. But you have to admit at his new weight-class he has looked impressive. I think Leben will be in for a long long night in England. It will most likely go to a decision but Bisping will be the clear winner.

I mean Leben was super lucky to beat Martin, and before that Jason MacDonald toyed with him and before that....well you get my drift. Leben is a tough dude, but tough can only get ya so far.

I agree, Bisping has looked great at 185. That's a big reason i only made a small play on Leben. I didnt like Leben until the line moved from +170 to +190, and still only for a small play.

However, when i look at Bisping's past fights, Hammill's wild/sloppy style reminds me somewhat of Leben. :shrug:

Both guys looked downright ripped at the weigh-ins. :thumb: Never seen Leben with a six pack before, but he also said he was in great shape against Martin, where he gassed out by the end of the second.

i like bisping...have him in a par..the problem with leben is that although he sucks technically(and i truly believe he does),he`s dangerous every minute of every round...even when he`s hurt....

bisping will have to stay extremely tight...all it takes is for one of those looping punches to catch him on the temple or the back of the head...

ya know..... another dog i like is Paul Taylor, but i cant make myself pull the trigger knowing how terrible his ground game is.

I doubt it will hit the ground since he is fighting Lytle, and Taylor is a frustrating, aggressive dude on his feet.


btw, im w/ weepaul.... no way Bisping walks over Leben, and Jardine will get crushed.
