Fight Card
----------------------------
Quinton Jackson vs. Keith Jardine
Matt Hamill vs. Mark Munoz
Matt Brown vs. Pete Sell
Shane Carwin vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
Gray Maynard vs. Jim Miller
Ryan Madigan vs. Tamdan McCrory
Jason Day vs. Kendall Grove
Tim Boetsch vs. Jason Brilz
Mike Patt vs. Brandon Vera
Shane Nelson vs. Aaron Riley

I think by far the most intriguing match-up is the Carwin/Gonzaga fight, that should be a good one:scared

And if Vera goes down....you can say bye bye to him:sadwave:

UFC 96: Jackson vs. Jardine

I just talked to Dana and he said they settled on "Jackson vs Jardine" after considering the following names for the event:

UFC 96: Flop
UFC 96: Pathetic
UFC 96: Go F*ck Yourself
UFC 96: Shame On Us
UFC 96: Tune In Next Time

Matt Brown vs Pete Sell on the MAIN CARD..... really!?!? :thefinger

Hamill/Munoz, too...? :00x16

"UFC 96: Tune In Next Time" :142smilie

Now, with that being said......anytime a card "looks bad" it turns out to have good fights. And when a card "looks good" it can sometimes not go so well, so ya never know:shrug:

The Day fight, and Carwin fight are fights I am looking forward to. Agree though, the Matt Brown vs. Pete Sell on the main card makes no friggen sense at all...:nono:

The Day fight should be a main card fight, that's for damn sure.

Some "must wins" on this card, Vera is done if he loses and same holds true for Mark Munoz, if he doesn't upset Matt Hamill he's also done in the UFC.

Oh and if Jardine wins, that's gonna screw up the division. Just an odd card indeed.

I'd call it:

UFC 96: "Main Event for No Reason" :142smilie

I will add these to the "picks thread" once the thread is posted, but had to get on these now:

Jason Day beat Kendall Grove $2.60 (+160) *3 Joe Rogans :scared

Michael Patt beat Brandon Vera $5.10 (+410) *1 Joe Rogan

Ok, ummm how can you not take Patt at +410:shrug: I mean have you seen Vera in the past year...ummm hello:eek: Vera has gotten so bad he pretty much has to win this fight or he's done in the UFC. The UFC has set him up with Patt, pretty much begging Vera to win. And yes he most likely will win, but Vera being a massive fav against anybody makes no sense, none. Anybody that takes Vera at his odds needs a brain scan.

As for the Day fight, Day will take Grove down, he will get him down, he will. Watch for the rubber guard, watch for a crazy submission win by Day. Yep, just watch. This should be an entertaining fight and Day will win. Odds are a gift, an absolute gift:scared

Oh and why is Quinton fighting Jardine:shrug:

I have no idea.... now that i think of it, pretty sure Dana said UFC 96: Meaningless was another option. :mj07:

Maynard/Miller is an interesting fight, along with Gonzaga/Carwin..... but yes, Grove/Day should take the spot of either of the lackluster fights i mentioned earlier.

Hammill/Munoz is going to suck.. mark my words. Sell/Brown may be a decent fight, but it should round out the bottom of an undercard, not be featured on PPV.

Maybe I am just a sucker, but I'm looking forward to this card....granted, it isn't a great line up, but we're still going to see two really interesting battles.

Gonzaga - Carwin: How can you not like this match up?

Jardine - Jackson: This could get ugly if Jackson is as good as I think he is now, but it is still time for Jackson to prove he's the real deal....andJardine is still one of the ten best at 205lbs.

If there are two fights I'm really interested in, I think the card is worth watching. Now, is it worth buying on PPV? Nope. But, I think I'll make time to find a way to watch it. I think you guys have been a little spoiled...I guess I am still remembering the boxing days when I knew nobody outside the household names and usually couldn't recognize a single fighter until the main event.

I agree this card may have good fights and knockouts but no way in hell will I pay $50 to see Keith Jardine as a main event. He is and always will be a stepping stone, just like stephan bonnar and joe daddy, etc. Guys with names the average person may have heard of but can't fight consistantly. I will most likely watch the card, because it is entertaining, but might be on YouTube next day or something. I can see these fights free on spike as a replay in one month.

So many good fighters in the UFC and Joe Silva has to promot this crap. I'd rather watch the rerun of Kos geting KTFO on my DVR.

Man oh Man it is official....MMA fans are spoiled:scared

There was a time where MMA was pretty much dead and the sport was almost gone forever......now UFC 96 comes along and the complaining is all over the place:shrug:

May I remind madjackers that the UFC has shown many many fights for FREE, in fact here in Canada we got to see 11 LIVE free fights in HD at UFC 95. I mean yes perhaps UFC 96 isn't stacked, but the complaining has to stop:nono:

And as I stated earlier, when a card "looks bad" that is usually a "good card".

Oh and if you think the UFC has some "bad cards" have you ever watched a "DREAM" or "SENGOKU" fight card? Now there are some horrific match-ups on those cards almost ALL THE TIME. Oh and take a look at the "main event" for the "DREAM 7" on March 8th, now that is pathetic.

Again, perhaps the card may not be worth 50 bucks, but when you throw in all the free stuff the UFC gives you I think 50 bucks is fair. And for 50 bucks, I think it is a great deal, plenty of things cost more then 50 bucks that suck....plenty.

And FWIW, I am looking forward to the Day, Carwin, Maynard, and Jardine fights:)

Something tells me this card will have some good fights, just wait and see. But damn dudes calm down....easy easy:)

I have to voice my opinion b/c Dana and I are great friends and he reads all my posts... he always takes my feelings into account so it's important that I make myself clear. This card is weak, that's all there is to it.

I don't bash many cards like Sponge does :mj07: , and I order nearly every PPV. The last UFC I DIDNT order was probably back around August, and that was b/c i was out of town... I know the UFC is pretty generous when it comes to offering "free" fights on basic cable, but for them to think this is a PPV caliber card!!?? I mean are they kidding?

Sure there are a couple good fights, but I would have been more likely to cough up the cash for UFC 95. No title implications... NO justification for Jardine to be fighting in a main event right now... Hammill/Munoz and Sell/Brown on a main card? :bs:

Am I going to watch it? YES, of course! But no way i am spending $50 on it. You guys can thank me later b/c Dana and Joe Silva will surely read this, notice a correlation between my unhappiness and the low # of PPV buys, and hopefully never put such a mediocre card together ever again.

True...Sponge complains about every card....very very true.

Dana also called me this afternoon, he is a little upset with raw, I calmed him down though, raw will still get a "Kalib Starnes" doll in his X-mas stocking.

And yes....the card is weak....but quit complaining....damn:scared

Next complaint is a 9 minute ban...maybe 11 minutes.

Fine no more complaining. On to a valid question...Does anyone know how many fights Matt Hammil has left on a contract or do thye just pay him fight to fight basis? I just feel he isnt as good as people may have thought and I think his time is coming to an end in the UFC. His mentor Tito will never fight in UFC again and neither should hammil, unless of course he starts knocking people out.

If Jon Fitch isn't on the main card neither should some of these guys.

Kick - this is not a complaint but why not have this card for free? As a business man this is the type of card you could do for free, chances are a couple people get knocked out then the UFC just gains more fans that will pay to see Rampage/Evans.

Hamill was actually given a 5-fight (?) contract extension recently......

The guy is one hell of an inspiration for deaf people all over the world, but aside from being a solid wrestler and hella STRONG he ain't that great IMO either. That said, he did look good in his last fight.

I've got a feeling this fight w/ Munoz may bore some people to tears....

Coach K.......I think the reason this one isn't free is because it may be a little "too good" for a "Fight Night" fight, but I do agree with your point. As for Fitch on undercard his last fight, that had to do with his management team, he was actually "let go" of his contract for 2 days, for 2 days he wasn't with the UFC. UFC punished him for that and put him on the prelims.

Now this card would be better if these were the "main card" fights:

Quinton Jackson vs. Keith Jardine
Shane Carwin vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
Gray Maynard vs. Jim Miller
Jason Day vs. Kendall Grove
Tim Boetsch vs. Jason Brilz
Mike Patt vs. Brandon Vera

Then again, you never know how many fights the PPV will show, there have been 4 PPV's where they showed EVERY FIGHT, so ya just never know. Perhaps raw's conversation with Dana will convince Dana to show every fight:mj07:

And remember, if you think this is bad, you should see the crap DREAM and SENGOKU show.

And I'll say it again.....I am looking forward to some of those fights, this isn't a horrific card, I mean it is not THAT bad.....sheesh:shrug:

I think the reason I'm not happy with a card like this is because the UFC has SO DAMN MANY good fighters I want to see but they don't fight them enough. Guys should be fighting at least 3 times per year. The problem is they save so many of the good guys for only championship fights. I guarantee I could throw 12 great shows a year together with the talent they have.

But I'm not complaining because you just never know which fights will be wars and which will end in the first 20 seconds.

They should have punished AKA not Fitch for that, but whatever.

Carwin is only like +145 at my place, I dont feel that is worth it, feel more comfortable parlaying Gonzaga at -175 with Rampage.

I think I would pay for the event coming to Nashville before I would pay for this one. And that's a free UFC Fight Night.
