"the bunker"
Damn it.

I tried to fit a round object into a square hole. That never works.:142smilie

Oh well still a +66 day on the card for me which is not normal on UFC cards for me lately.

Where do I go to start the BRING BACK WEINERDOG PROTEST?

Ah maybe we need a Weiner break, until next fights.

i`m with ya`.....weinerdog!...weinerdog!......the guy had a pleasant, self defecating sense of humor....:grins:

he was fun...

Muhr im watching this blog and all these guys are saying how fantastic Cain is and im thinking to myself "what the fuk am i missing here?" I didn't think his boxing was all that great in his last fight against that super stiff he fought. He is lucky he fought a guy who can't think on his feet. Strange but i was thinking the same thing about Carwin. To be honest i don't like any of these heavyweights. All look easy to hit and the guys like Kongo who can bang, can't think.

he has a "chance" against anybody he can get his hands on(this side of lesnar)....

he needs to work on doing something once he gets guys on the mat,though....it was frustrating watching him take a striker`s back time and again and not know how to choke him out....

seriously,though...let me say this...is there a better "pure striker" in the heavyweight division than kongo?.....

i can`t think of one...

i agree, kongo is the best striker in the ufc hw division. i don't think his boxing is the best though, i think cain made it look better than it is.

one thing that pops out to me is the start of the herring/kongo fight. herring had kongo close to the fence and landed a staggering punch and kongo responded with a takedown and continued to do so throughout the fight.

kickserv broke even.........parlay saved me:SIB

Nice job Ghost, kegray and GW.....:SIB

Cain was exposed, many guys in UFC can beat him, if he fights Dos Santos or Carwin next Cain will get smoked. In fact in the UFC Cain is maybe 7 or 8 in the division.

Agree with GW, Wandy needs to retire, guy is going to get killed out there man, killed. I thought Rich clearly won the fight but wasn't super impressed with Rich. But he clearly won and that's all that matters. Have to respect Wandy for "bringing it" but the guy needs to call it quits before he dies.

I thought Uno should have won, and Davis should have won, but both fights were close. I think only reason Davis lost was because of the cut.

Also...........MIRKO IS SCUM...ABSOLUTE SCUM....see "June news thread" for details.

And Swick fighting GSP.....ummm dudes please, guy doesn't deserve a title shot, and even if he did GSP would maul Swick. But we all know that GSP will next fight Anderson next if Anderson beats Griffin.

Boring night of fights. I went to Hooters to watch it, so that made up for them. Kongo was exposed once again. Cain's wrestling was strong, but his striking and BJJ looked weak at best.

I was disappointed in Saunders.. and lmao at Cro Cop screwing Dana :mj07:

I watched the fights on an awful projection screen at BW3s by my house.

1. The Irish Hand Grenade has imploded. He might be able to walk through stiffs, but he is not worth a bet against anybody with a chin and wrestling ability.

2. No Kevin, Cain V is not able (read Kevin Iole's article on Yahoo Sports). I agree with Sponge, people are going overboard kissing this guys ass. Yes, he really impressed me with his ability to throw Kongo around the cage, but that's because Kongo is a 2 on a scale of 10 in wresting ability. Cain has a promising career ahead of him, but he's going to get torn apart before he reaches the top of the division (if he ever does). Shane Carwin would not let him out of the first round. Lesnar would overpower him on the ground with his similar wresting ability. Essentially, anybody that can wrestle in the HW division that has other strengths will expose Cain...until Cain gets his other disciplines up to snuff.

3. Franklin v Wandy probably should have been a draw. If you score it for Franklin, there is a case to be made since the one round everyone is giving to Wandy (rd 2) saw Franklin coming on very late landing 3 huge shots to end the round. If you score it in favor of Wandy, you must really value the 200 blocked punches he threw.

Boring card....

Bring us Shogun, the new LHW champ...

UFC 100 should be light years better than 99...

Cheick Kongo sucks...

Marcus Davis, Wanderlei Silva, and Caol Uno, all 3 got a raw deal...

UFC 99 2-0 +2.31 units

2009 overall 16-6 +31.32 units

Way too busy, I'll get on later with thoughts.

Congrats to everyone who won, I'm not sure who all that is yet because I haven't had a chance to go thru and read but I'm happy. :00hour

I thought Fraklin clearly won the fight.

Round 1 I gave to Franklin because I thought he outstruck Wandy. Although both had top position on the ground I thought Rich landed more blows. For some reason Wandy never was able to do much on the ground. Even if you say the ground was even, I still think Rich won standing(I will say this is not by much tough, neither fighter was impressive)

Round 2-This is the round everyone is saying Wandy won. I though Rich won it and won it in convincing fashion. For the round as a whole Rich pretty much dominated it. There was a 30 second period where Wandy looked great, he rocked Rich with a punch and then followed it up. But, he didn't drop Rich, Rich fought through it very well I thought. In the first minute of the round Rich dropped Wandy with a stright right and then dropped Wandy again later in the round with a left kick(I believe it was a left kick) and Wandy was either very tired or somewhat rocked by the way he looked. So Rich had two knock downs and controlled 4:30 of the round. Wandy had one big punch and took it to Rich for 30 seconds. I think the 2 knock downs and round domination won the round for Rich.

Round 3- Totally useless round that neither fighter deserved but in the world of BS MMA scoring, the takedown at the end probably won it for Rich.

Couple of thoughts-

Swick has NO chance vs GSP. GSP would take him down at will and gnp him to death. I like Swick but what is he going to do that poses a threat to GSP?

Cain-I thought he looked good. Yeah he didn't finish on the ground and he has a lot of things to learn but he took Kongo down at will. Sure he got rocked a few times standing but Kongo is as good as Cain will face when it comes to the standup part of the game. Part of him looking bad in his standup is because of who he was facing. I'm fairly certain that the good majority of the HW divsion would look bad standing vs Kongo, he has excellant striking and he has a lot of length. I think Cain "could"(not would) beat anyone in the HW division(outside of Brock of course). Cain's wrestling is going to dominate almost everyone. Carwin probably would have a better shot at stopping his wrestling but I don't think Carwin's wrestling is on the same level as Cains.(I could be wrong but we're talking division II guy vs division I). Who else in the UFC can stop his takedowns? (again, I'm excluding Brock)

I HATE wrestlers but they are what they are and Cain is one of the top wrestlers to come in to the UFC at any weight.
