I dont know what i think about the prop, but i'll throw in my two cents on the fight....

I dont think either fighter can TKO the other.... Nog never been known for his power, but heart and submissions. (Nog has 31 wins, only 3 by TKO). Nog never been TKO'd, dont think Mir will be the first.

In all honesty, i give the nod submission-wise to Mir. Not many people want to hear that, but here is some of my reasoning....

Mir's submissions are absolutely brutal, and he (IMO) is much less orthodox and much more explosive/aggressive with his Jiu Jitsu attack. He broke the arm of high-level BJJ guy Roberto Traven; rumored to have fractured the ankle of Tank Abbott with a toe hold; visibly broke Tim Sylvia's arm; if Hardonk, Williams or Lesnar waited any longer to tap, they too would have left the cage injured.

On the other hand, as mentioned on this season of TUF, Big Nog's submissions are very basic/elementary... and slow. Also, as many submission wins as he has, none are against well-versed BJJ guys.. i guess there is an argument for Enson Inoue, but that's about it (same could be said about Mir i guess, w/ the exception of Traven). Nog's sub game is very old-school, and i dont think he can tap Mir. Just being honest.

More........ Mir trains BJJ with easily one of the top three jiu jitsu guys in the world, Robert Drysdale... he won the 2007 ADCC open weight division by submitting Marcelo Garcia (won most prestigious grappling award in the world by beating another one of the best in the world)... he has sort of a cutting edge style of BJJ, some shit that i can assure u, Nogueira is not familiar with... Mir gets tapped every day by one of the best in the world. (Also saw a clip of Mir working with Eddie Bravo a few weeks back)

A lot of people forget what a stud Mir was before his motorcycle accident... and the casual MMA fans dont recognize how severe that accident was. He came back rusty and got beat by a flop (Marcio Cruz)... went on to win a decision against a nobody, then got caught with a vicious knee against Vera. Since then he's had impressive submissions over Hardonk and THE MONSTER, Brock Lesnar.

Mir considers Nogueira his hero, and he wants to see how he 'stacks up' against his idol... he knows Nog well, and he knows his bread and butter when it comes to submissions. Mir has been quoted saying, 'Im not even gonna go for a joint lock, because he (Nog) wont tap. I know i've got to get the choke to sub him.' I think that is a major possibility.

Now for the obvious.... we all know Nogueira is a walking zombie, and he has never been stopped. We all know Mir has had conditioning issues in the past, but he *has* been training since like September for this one.

I'd like to see both guys go straight to the ground, but I think we'll see more striking than most expect. I like a small play on Mir, but I am insane. ;)

ok......let us get this out of the way first......how in the love of fu** is the C.B. match on the "main card". Man I hope they change that, what the hell is that:scared

Any other fight is better then the C.B fight. Although who knows, maybe all the fights will be shown, just depends I guess.

Ok let's get to it:

MMA Record (since UFC 58)
---------------------------------------------

Prop Bet 21-16
Fighter vs. Fighter 107-155
Parlays 51-67

+32.16 Joe Rogans

Quinton Jackson beat Wanderlei Silva $2.05 *2 Joe Rogans

Forrest Griffin beat Rashad Evans $1.77 *5 Joe Rogans :scared :scared :scared

Ok madjackers, I am all over Forrest, yep all over him. I mean we are talking all over him. Ya know like a stalker on speed, just all over him. The line has been a little funky, but I'm taking it now. The reason is simple. IT IS 5 ROUNDS, he ain't losing a five round fight to Evans, just ain't gonna happen. And looking at this fight, I just don't see too many things that Rashad is better then Forrest in:confused: So there ya have it.......Griffin...Rogans galore:firing:

As other madjackers have stated above I am going with the tiny dog Quinton. I got the line now because I think it will be a "pick em" by fight night. Sure Quinton has "outside issues" he's dealing with, but I think he'll get the job done against Wandy.

And yes I will be on the massive doggy Mir. Just waiting for more money to go on Nog. By fight night he'll be a bigger dog then he is now. I know Mir doesn't get much love, but he is top 5 (maybe top 3) in ALL OF MMA when it comes to submissions. And taking a shot at a guy with sick submissions at big odds doesn't seem like a bad play:)

i have nogueira as the kicker in several parlays.....never thought much of mir...always thought he was highly protected....his resume is extremely weak....

and i agree with raw...i like rampage here...i DO believe the difference in rules favors jackson...and silva`s been brutally knocked out(henderson/crocop) and taken a bad beatdown from liddell since his last fight with jackson...

i think silva`s seen his best days...

i worry that he`s inside jackson`s head....jackson needs to avoid the clinches....if i were him i`d try and take silva down to the ground...he`s a much stronger man than silva,imo...

What is ur take on the Evans/ Griffin match Weasy?

i just cant take Rampage who lost to Silva twice. Then u have the shit Rampage went thru which i feel is way to risky to be wagering on him. I know with me if a guy whipped my ass twice already, im gonna be a little nervous dancing with him again. Impossible not to be thinking about that. Once is one thing but twice is another.
I wonder if Bucksthatclucks is gonna go with Rampage large?

Kick if Forrest wants to stand with Rashard he is getting knocked out.

we can disagree,raw...but which solid bjj guys has mir subbed?...

looks to me like the guys he subbed were either stone cold stiffs/strikers or wrestlers....

don`t see a solid bjj guy in the bunch...even a moderate bjj guy...any bjj guys...

he sub`s nog he`ll be the first...and i`ll gladly pay the man......matter of fact,i think nog will pummel him on their feet...nog`s stand-up is way better than mirs,imo...

nog`s just better...and much tougher...better stamina...

the only hope mir has is that nog has been in too many hard fights and is shot...his last few performances haven`t been all that great...

spongy...i haven`t really looked at that fight...might be a pass for me...off the top of my head,i think a 5 round fight benefits "ears"... but evans is the better wrestletr and has serious power...

i think griffin`s stamina,if he doesn`t get caught,will be the key...

First off.........Ghost Kid banned 4 hours for "off topic post". Yep, kickserv is back.....bans will be handed out no matter who you are:142smilie

Now........kickserv adding some plays:

MMA Record (since UFC 58)
---------------------------------------------

Prop Bet 21-16
Fighter vs. Fighter 107-155
Parlays 51-67

+32.16 Joe Rogans

Quinton Jackson beat Wanderlei Silva $2.05 *2 Joe Rogans

Forrest Griffin beat Rashad Evans $1.77 *5 Joe Rogans :scared :scared :scared :scared

Mike Massenzio beat CB Dallaway $2.40 *2 Joe Rogans

Dean Lister beat Yushin Okami $3.90 *1 Joe Rogan

Reese Andy beat Matt Hamill $4.15 *half Joe Rogan

As stated earlier, I will be playing Mir, but waiting on odds to get better. Ok, I know I will get laughed at for my Reese Andy play, but ummm come on people should Hamill be that big a fav:confused: I say no, have to take a shot at Andy at those odds. Love the Lister play, Lister is no joke and is getting no respect from the oddsmakers, I really think Lister has a good shot at beating Okami. As for the C.B. play, please gimmie a break, C.B. shouldn't be a fav against anybody. Massenzio as a nice doggie....thank ya thank ya.

this card is great for fans, but not a good one to gamble on...tough matchups...

I really think Rampage-Silva and Griffin-Evans are coin-flip fights....looking forward to them, but NO PLAY for me

My two plays for tomorrow night will be:

1. (LARGE) PARLAY: Matt Hamill to Pat Barry

and

2. (MEDIUM) STRAIGHT: Massenzio over C.B.

I also think Nog and Okami will win, but I don't like the prices on either. I was going to play Kongo, but there seems to be some building buzz that he will be upset by this Al-Turk guy.

Good luck guys and have a safe and Happy New Year!

These are my bets

Rashad Evans to beat Forrest Griffin at +120. The one thing that scares me in this fight is, Rashad tends to gas out and this is a 5 round fight.
Rashad is a better wrestler and puncher. Forrest has good leg kicks and fights pretty well from his back.
Forrest also cuts and swells very easily and does not have the greatest of chins.

Quinton Jackson to beat Wanderlei Silva at +105.
Silva has scored 2 brutal KO's over Jackson in the past when they fought for Pride in Japan.
This was more than 4 years ago and Pride rules favoured Silva. A couple of times Jackson had Silva in trouble on the ground and the ref stood them up??
UFC rules favour Jackson. He has improved hugely since they last fought and Silva is not the force he was then.
The guy was the best 5 years ago but his time has passed.
I actually think Silva's best chance in this fight is by sub. In their first 2 fights, he caught Rampage in a couple of very good sub attempts.

Massenzio to beat Dollaway at +140.
These guys are carbon copies of one another but Dollaway is famous due to the Ultimate Fighter show. This fight is a toss up but Dollaway tends to gas after 2 rounds and he has been caught twice in subs by a novice.

Mostapha Al Turk to beat Cheick Kongo at +260.
Kongo is a great striker but I will bet anyone who has good grappling against him as he is like a fish out of water when a fight hits the ground.
Al Turk is a good grappler. If he can get the fight to the ground, he could win.
I think this is the best bet on the card.

Yushin Okami should win his fight on points against Dean Lister but the odds of -350 are not worth it as Lister is one of the best sub fighters in the world.
His subs don't work anywhere near as good in MMA but you never know.

Ryo Chonan to beat Brad Blackburn at -160. I just think Chonan is a class above and will finally show it in this fight.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira should win his fight against Frank Mir but the odds of -350 are not worth it.
Mir is VERY dangerous for the first few minutes and is capable of ripping your arm off but after that he gasses badly.
This is a 5 round fight and I see no way Mir can last that long.
I think Nogueira is better than Mir in all aspects of MMA but it will be interesting to see who wins the ground battle as they are both great on the ground.

Good luck all!!! :toast:

a few comments post weigh-in:

1. I'm adding more to Massenzio, as CB Dolloway looked like death....I think he's going to get subbed easily...

2. Rampage-Wanderlei is going to be SICK ! I actually think Rampage can win this...

good luck fellas...

Bham, Al
I think the only way Rahard loses is to gas and get pointed. I agree with someone above - Forest just doesn't do anything better than Rasahrd. R is a better wrestler with faster hands. Forest MIGHT have him in subs, but who knows.

Minotauro should easily handle Mir. Better jitz, granite jaw, and he's not concerned about his hair.

I'd have a hard time betting on Rampage because of his record AND skill matchup with Wanerlei. Not to mention that his mental state is still questionable.

BOL to all. I'm more excited about this card than any in the past year. Now if we could just get Fedor on a card....

Great price in my opinion.....though Kongo has improved on the ground, he is still horrific. Al-Turk should be able to get him on the ground. If he just lays on him he should win. Kongo is good on his feet but horrific on the ground. Also, Al-Turk is one tough dude, I think he might even be able to handle the massive power of Kongo. This will most likely be a boring fight (if Kongo doesn't knock him out early) but taking the big dog Mustapha seems like the smart play.

Bottom line....if Kongo doesn't knock him out early I think Mustapha gets the win:SIB

Oh and Griffin and Jackson baby......:firing: :firing:
