Wow, Hale Irwin -2 and current leader. Enjoy everyone one and good luck. I took a few 3 balls today, none of which are doing very well, and also took the following to finish in top 4. Singh +400, Els +600, Furyk +625 and Cink +1250. No winner picks or plays for me at all.

Will probably have no 2nd round plays as this course will play completely different thru remainder of tourney. Will be huge difference in receptance of greens but I believe biggest will be fairways, the size was not as much disadvantage as slope. Many drives had hit fairway only to roll into the rough. With the rain most will stay in fairway, further out naturally but who really minds hitting the longer iron into greens that hold now.Feel especially sorry for early players that shot in mid 70,s.Will be very hard for them to make cut now with remainder of field looking at soft conditions and 6mph winds today. What a bummer to have the very teeth of this course pulled from such an event.

buying 4 shares of Toms on intereactives @ WSEX $5 a share.Sitting at -2 with 14 holes left this morning puts him in good shape to be at top of leader board after 1st round.

Nothing from me for the 2nd round. Changed course, matchups involving players not having completed their first round, and for those that have, they won't finish their round today. Too much risk playing 2nd round matches under those conditions.

Will update standings after conclusion of 1st round, but one thing is clear, the old adage "beware the injured golfer" was proved correct yesterday

Will add 2 2nd round plays @ $plays both -125
Cink over Perry
Langer over Triplett

Note on Toms on above post. Also available @ 40/1 E/W @ Surrey.Good price consider but will go inter route myself.

Stan You sound as disappointed as I at the onset of the rain.Sure does throw hours of grinding stats for this event down the drain and personally I don't have inclination to start from scratch again.

Up 1.5 units on yesterday's 3 balls, with Duval, Durant, Faldo and Coceres pending. Anyone have any thoughts the PM three ball matchups? Cink at +120 and Chamblee at +125 and Cabrera at +125 look good to me. Tripplett too at +187 Is everyone backing off today?

Subagoto You might go back and look at 7 matches posted yesterday.Sutton and Parny were only 2 losses out of the 7.I am sure odds will tweeked somewhat today but one advantage of 3balls at least you know they'll be playing in same conditions.
Only 3 of players who completed round yesterday were in red #'s,there are now 11 and will probabably be close to 15 by end on 1st.Its gosh darn sickening.

I had a couple of those yesterday along with a couple of my own. Actually turned out up 4.5 units so far, but Faldo and Coceres are looking like losses. Nonetheless, a profitable day 1 will be had. I like a lot of those on that card again, the problem is my book only had the pm matches up. I am on Cabrera, Cink, Chamblee and also took Charles Howell. Thanks for your help and insight. It is appreciated and welcomed. Would very much like to see Furyk and Cink go low today, but you are right, it is a horrible that going low is even an option in an Open. That torrential downpour changed the whole complexion of this tournament. Irwin will have a tough time today in these soft conditions.

Coceres a push, so +3.5 units on round #1.

The course is not a nice as expected today. Can't wait to get home to watch.

1st round update: 1-6-0 and -10.03 units

Ouch! Made a correction for injured players Love, Monty and Perry to make them plays and every once is losing or has already lost
eek.gif
Love beat Lehman by four and Price by two in the main plays of the day while Monty beat Westwood by four. In the regular 1st round plays, Azinger lost by four to Calc and by one to Parnevik and Campbell lost by six to Langer. The sole win of the day was Cabrera's two shot win over Bjorn.

Too many other plays to list ... and it wouldn't make happy reading anyway ... but the 72-hole plays stood 5-8-0 after 18 holes and the cut props stood 12-13. Horrible week and they've only played 18 holes!

hey guys! this forum is getting some serious action this week. nice work!

rookie question: what happens if both players in a matchup don't make the cut? does the player with the best score win, or is it graded 'no action'?

thanks!

Not very good 1st round report here either.
But noticed many matches by gang fell apon the wrong side of the rainfall.I knew my $hit was weak when play was halted.

1st round matches 0-1
Els loses to Maggert by 2
Maggert no birdies before rain/4 after

totals 3-4
Mick over 71 loss (70)
Singh over 71 win (74)
Huston over 73 Win (75)
Garcia over 72 loss (70)
Clarke over 73 win (74)
Els over 72 1/2 loss (71) 11 holes after rain
Duval over 71 1/2 loss (70)8 holes after rain

other props
lehman under 18th coming back today after playing whole 1st in worst conditions

Monty and Coceres to miss cut: Both losses
They played a total of 12 holes between them prior to rain.

72 holes looking better with a couple already home but will update all at the cut.

Sorry for the whining but it helps sometimes

It is a pi$$er though when you spends many hours in preperation trying to find edge only to have ole murph change the course completely and use those very same #'s you crunched against you.
