Am I the only guy on this medium hitting player? Hit it straight and grind. That's the key to this championship. I'm ready for it to start. I think I may be off Thursday. 95% of the field will be eliminated after Thursday, all but 5 or 6 by Friday afternoon.

David Toms to win 67.00 sia

72 hole match/ups

Goosen over Garcia -110
Toms over Poulter -120

I thought I would never back Goosen again. I was wrong. His comeback, so to speak, has been steady and effective. I'm tempted to call this a free money bet since Garcia has done less than nothing this year.

I have to back Toms here, as I have him to win also. Not as confident on this wager, I am not 100% convinced Toms is back to normal. I think he is, and I think Poulter is a fairly reliable bottler, most times. Ian does show better in the majors, most times. I believe Toms steady play this year and his relaxed demeanor will serve him well this week.

Anyone playing top 5 or top 10?

I favor Kenny Perry for a top 5 at 9:1. Goosen a 5:1?

Top 10

Kenny Perry 5:1. Goosen 3:1

Thoughts?

Q. Could you talk about the state of your game right now, what you're doing well, or maybe any areas you'd like to get a little bit better before Thursday?
ANGEL CABRERA: My game's very good. I arrived Wednesday to work with my coach, Charlie Epps in Houston. We worked a lot maybe on my short game, maybe that's where I was lacking some improvement. So I think I'm ready

Casey?

Casey?

What's with all the love for Paul Casey at the sportsbooks? I realize he's moved up to number three and is a very deserving contender. However, all the lines with him are moving as if he's the hot item. As a favorite, he's going up 10-25 and as a dog he's decreasing 10-20.

I don't see him listed here all that much and was wondering what anyone heard about him or why he seems to be the steam.

I have big plays against him with Steve Stricker (tournament and round one) and Geoff Ogilvy (tourney). They weren't plays fading Casey but more of plays on those two at what I thught were decent odds. Any insight on Paul would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ogilvy -105 over Mickelson (72)

69th in putting and 75th in driving accuracy last week, i don't think he is close at all.. the crowds will love him, but i'll take an unflappable ogilvy who showed signs of life with a brilliant 63 last week.

Also have

Quiros -130 over Kjeldson (72)

There looks like a the Farmingdale, NY will get some rain possibly on each of the first three days of competition. So, softening up the course will result in more tee shots finding the fairway and the greens holding.

Under 277.5 for tournament at -120?

I agree with you on Casey. I don't have a dog in this race, but my opinion of him is that he is highly overrated. Especially in the US where he has done close to nothing. Winning on the Euro Tour is almost as good as a win on the Nike Tour, I mean the Nationwide Tour. That's a joke, I'm not serious. Casey's problem is he is not mind acclimated to US courses. They are very different than Euro tracks.

Just coming back to this No. 3 thing, I read somewhere in some of the American sites there's a certain degree of skepticism about the fact that you've got to No. 3. I wonder what you thought of that skepticism.
PAUL CASEY: I don't make the system, so I'm not one who comes up with how the World Rankings are devised. I've got three wins this year and a second place finish, and I've accumulated a lot of points.
So I've played the system very well, won the points and moved up. I must be surprised -- I'm surprised I'm No. 3 in the world, but that's the way the system works.
So are the World Rankings perfect? There's a big debate. I have felt that my only thing I would tweak with the World Rankings is sort of devise the way sometimes it penalizes, certainly penalizes guys who like to play a lot of golf. That's something I would like to tweak if I had the opportunity.
But who else has won three times this year around the world

Go look at his results since he got married..
and the comment about the Abu Dahbi is comical.. I would say that field was stronger than 50%+ of the fields so far this year on the US tour..

Stenson, Bads and other studs were also in the field :(

Casey played college golf in the states, and lives in the US, im pretty sure he is accustomed to it.
He also finished second at the match play.. Im pretty sure the field there was pretty strong?
Go look at his results world wide this year and let me know who should be #3.. Sergio? Padraig? Kim?

Stanley...I don't know how you tally the outright plays in regards to "units"...but here are my actual cash plays.
The following "Odds To Win A Major" info was posted by me on April 8th on the Masters thread. (post # 52) These bets are obviously alive through the PGA Major.

Ogilvy 8-1 10 units
Casey 16-1 10 units
Poulter 20-1 10 units
Z. Johnson 25-1 10 units
O'Hair 28-1 10 units

As for my new plays for the Open...

Tiger Woods even money to win, 25 units

Steve Stricker 15-1 to Place (2nd or better), 3units

David Toms 25-1 to Place, 3 units

Angel Cabrera 30-1 to Place, 3 units

Hunter Mahan 30-1 to Place, 3 units

Robert Allenby 30-1 to Place, 3 units
