So i guess since th RB had 3 touchdowns rushing - they shouldve thrown more....

Sounds like a solid strategy... Go away from whats working....

I bet oregon couldve "attacked" better.

How did the RB have 3 rushing TD's when the game started?

On the year, Quinn with 32 TD passes and Walker with 9 TDs TOTAL!

Go away from whats working? You said they got CRUSHED!! Now you say their offensive strategy was WORKING???

WTF? You dont make ANY SENSE!! :mj07:

Hmmmm 9-2 with 32 TD passes
0-1 with NO TD passes. Guess their passing had NOTHING to do with their success!!

SCOTTY......

SCOTTY......

Prediction: USC -7

Explanation: 5 Units

We?ve clearly got the two best teams in the country facing one another, complete with the most electrifying offensive players in the game.

On paper, Texas has the superior defense, but their strength of opposition was weaker than that of the Trojans. Offensively, these two teams have the most potent offenses in football, combining to average 101 points per game between them. USC has more weapons than the Longhorns ? stop Vince Young and you could potentially slow down the Texas attack.

In a game of this magnitude, there is one intangible factor that gets us to the betting window. No, it?s not the hometown edge for USC ? while they have had success playing in the Rose Bowl, Texas rallied back from two scores down in the fourth quarter to beat Michigan there last year.

The intangible factor that we're most interested in is the coaches, Mack Brown vs. Pete Carroll. Pete Carroll has an unbelievable track record with extra time to prepare. Southern Cal played three games this year with more than a week of preparation time. They beat Hawaii 63-17, Arkansas 70-17 and UCLA 66-19. None of those games were as close as the final score indicated. We?ve seen Carroll?s Trojans enjoy blowout type success in each of their last three bowl games, beating Iowa 38-17, Michigan 28-14 and Oklahoma 55-19. Again, none of those games were as close as the final scores might indicate ? USC was firmly in control of each game by halftime.

Texas does not have the type of track record of preparedness under Mack Brown that USC has under Carroll. Take their regular season finale at Texas A+M as a classic example, a struggle from start to finish against an inferior ballclub. The Longhorns 1-5 ATS mark in their last six bowls under Brown is another illustration. Mack Brown vs. teams ranked in the Top 5? How about a 1-12 straight up mark, dating back to his tenure at North Carolina.

Sometimes, breaking down the matchups and the stats doesn?t do any good at all. This is one of those times. We want the coach and the program that have risen above the rest of the college football world for the last three seasons. That means a bet on USC minus the points, as we look for the Trojans to prove their dominance once again.

Play USC -7 :iagree:

Screw the PAC 10.

Seriously though I applaud Scott for his insights & his passion for USC. His arguements are legit, skewed IMO, but legit.

I tried to do the same thing with my counter points in a PRO Texas fashion.

It's game played by 17-22 year old KIDS. We can debate back & forth all we want & both make valid, concise & concievable arguements to how it will unfold, but none us can KNOW what will happen until it happens, that is unless there is a true visionary amoung us actually reading this thread. :)

I hear you, all that I was saying is that I appreciated Scotts post and thought that all the flames and bashing of him/his post were stupid.

My reasons for pulling for the PAC-10 are because of the first sentence of your post.

First time poster and just read your analysis. I have to say I'm no genius and surely don't analyze games as well as most of the posters here. Im more like a dumbass sheep that follows the crowd type and bets his ass and has lost his ass on most bowl games like last night with Penn St whom I thought would of and did run all over FSU but then decided to start passing for some god awful reason and screwed me.

I'm an SC fan and have dumped all my betting money on SC as from a layman like me logic dictates that SC will kick Texas ass. I bet that feeling but what worries me more than any analysis is why does Las Vegas only make it a 7 to 7 1/2 point spread? They can and will be off sometimes but in a big game like this, it worries the shit out of me.

Its the same thing when SC played UCLA and were giving 21 points. I jumped all over UCLA like alot of people and was crying after the first quarter.

I hope Vegas is way off and you win your thousands and I win my measly 1k.

Good luck.

No need for a novel length write up and childish pictures like some dorks have done. Texas wins the game straight up and doesn't need the points. All of the arrogant and overconfident SC fans will be asking themselves what went wrong when the game clock hits 0:00 in the fourth quarter and The University of Texas is crowned national champions!

Remember that Vegas needs to keep the betting money very balanced. They are not in the business of picking point spread winners. Since the line has flirted with 8 and been at least as low as 6.5, the opportunities to middle and tease those key numbers is a possibility. I wouldn't let the line be much of a factor here

And there is also this. Since the game was set on Dec. 4, there has been only one piece of music played in the Texas locker room. One of the managers put the USC fight song, ?Fight On?, on a CD and it is played continuously. It never stops. They are sick of hearing it.

Tonight, in the college football game they call ?The Granddaddy of Them All,? there is only one way that Texas can stop the USC fight song from dominating the Pasadena night. At long last it is time for the talking to stop. It is time to play.

Sorry Scott but my money is on Texas +7 and the Texas Moneyline.

Only game I got to think about is Notre Dame.

Texas is much better than ND.

Its all I need to know.

One thing I haven't heard a whole lot about from people is Mack Brown vs. Pete Carroll. Scott touched on it of course, but people keep comparing stats and then giving there pick.

When it comes to coaching, this ain't much of a contest. People gotta be picking Texas using stats.

too bad texas isnt playing nd tonight......nd played their best game of the year and the best game in 35 games vs sc.....and still lost

when trailing who do you want throwing the ball trying to catch up....young or lienart????

comes down to this for me....sc gets ahead, sc forces young to throw in the pocket....all those jump balls and floaters get picked and he/texas implode

Bill Belichick in the NFL and Pete Carroll of Southern Cal make the best second half adjustments in all of football. That is where this game will be won! Second half adjustments. Mack Brown, while at Texas, has been to seven bowl games and is only 2-5 ATS in those games, winning four outright. Carroll, on the other hand is 3-1 SU and ATS his four bowls with Southern Cal, including winning each of the last two national championship games by a combined total score of 83-33. That is a combined 50-point edge over Oklahoma and Michigan in those games. Not even close.

Tonight will be the same outcome as Southern Cal wins national championship number three in a row by at least two touchdowns!

USC-7

We can see thru the USC BS

We can see thru the USC BS

Please list the (2) Defenses USC has faced that were in the top 40? Last I checked they hadn't faced a defense in the top 50.

I also think your underestimating the speed of the Texas Defense. Good Luck.
