Zero income tax here in TN as well. 9.25% sales tax (or somewhere around there).

I love a consumption-based tax system!!!

i was talking about property taxes.

they just raised our sales tax from 6% to 7% and we pay state income tax. i'm about getting sick of this state, that for should.

Rose: I bet 'like $2,000' per game

SI VAULT: Pete Rose's confession (01.12.04)

By SI.com Staff

Pete Rose said on The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday that he bet around $2,000 per game on the Reds while he was managing them.

"It was like $2,000. That's it," Rose said in the interview. "And it didn't change -- because I know you're going to say, Well betting's all about pitching and stuff like that -- I didn't care who was pitching for me or who was pitching for the opposition. I just made it easy for the guys making the bets and just bet this much every game and that's the way we did it."

In his 2004 book, My Prison Without Bars, Rose had admitted to betting $1,000 per game as manager of the Reds, starting in 1987, and said he bet $2,000 on football games. The $2,000 figure for baseball bets was mentioned in 1989's Dowd Report, the findings of baseball's investigation into Rose's gambling, but Rose had never previously confirmed that amount.

No what he was going to say Pete, was why the fawk would you bet on a team you were managing?

duh what a tool

Wtf do you do with those things to save money? You take baths in them? Haul them inside to wash your dishes?

Anybody here know what a cistern is? I used to collect water like that on a smaller scale to put in with my snapping turtle (his name was Snappy) and to feed my earthworms. Animals do better without the fluoride that's in drinking water.

my bills (same every month with budget billing; Jack since your bills are so high, you should check into that):

'Light' Bill : $198
Gas: $28 (wife freezes my moon1 off during the winter!)
Cell Phones (converted land line to cell phone last year and kept the same number): $103
Cable/Cable modem: $97

I guess he waters the garden with them. Looks like they hold about 30 gallons of water along with 10 gallons of bird shit it washes off of the roof. Throw in 15 gallons of gravel from the shingles Not sure i want to eat any of those veggies with liquid bird shit helping them grow. How do you move them? Is that hose a part of them? Does he have to keep bothering his buddies to come over and help move them? You need a strong hand truck to move those suckers. Kosar if you find out any more about these things let me know im thinking of making the purchase.

Jack any news on the magic Jack? Is it possible that thing works? Looks like a great deal.

the hose is attached to the barrel and you can water the yard or garden if you can reach it.

use a hand lift to move them around.

(CNN) ? Hillary Clinton has hinted that she is prepared to take her fight to fully seat Florida and Michigan all the way to the party's convention in late August, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says that's not going to happen.

In an interview with her hometown newspaper, the San Francisco Chronicle, the California Democrat said she is prepared to "step in" if the presidential race does not resolve itself by the end of next month.

"I will step in," Pelosi told the paper. "Because we cannot take this fight to the convention? It must be over before then."

Pelosi, who will serve as chair of the convention, has largely stayed on the sidelines during her party's prolonged primary race. But the House Speaker has said Democratic superdelegates should not overturn the pledged delegate winner, and has warned of irreparable harm if they do so. Barack Obama officially won the majority of pledged delegates in last Tuesday's primary contests, though it's been clear for several weeks Clinton could not overtake him in that category.

Pelosi also indicated she opposes the Clinton campaign's desire that both Florida and Michigan's delegations be fully seated at the convention. The party stripped both states of their entire delegations last year after they moved their presidential primaries ahead in the nominating calendar.

Pelosi said she agreed the two states should be seated in some way, but said only "in a way that is not destructive to any sense of order in the party."

"If you have no order and no discipline in terms of party rules, people will be having their primary in the year before the presidential election," she said. "So there has to be some penalty."

The Democratic National Committee's Rules and Bylaws Committee meets Saturday in Washington to consider exactly how to seat both states. It's likely the committee will vote to meet the rule-breaking states halfway ? a move that will help Clinton close the delegate gap with Obama but not overtake him.

I commend Scott for his rain water collection system. Unlike Kosar, who clearly has something against mother nature, I appreciate people who show a little effort towards conservation.

I had a pet turtle as a kid and ...believe it or not ....it ran way.

I'm sure those are Scott's barrels! :mj07:

I love mother nature too. I've been trying to figure out how to now sell the carbon credits (whatever they are) from my farm to somebody dumb enough to pay me for them. :0corn

This thread should be sent to the dump. I can't bear to look at what some of you are paying for heat and gas. MIne was 160 last month and this is with only two people. No heat, no air. about 90 for electric and 70 for gas. Lowest bill in the last 5 years. My electric and gas is basically what Jacks are with a coat on.
