Washington Wizards vs. Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) - 6:00 PM EDT Premium Pick
Pick: Point Spread: -4.5/-103 Cleveland Cavaliers Play Title: Wednesday NBA Playoff Top Play
Washington has decided to play a very tough physical style of play against Cleveland. However, this style is not how they have played all season, and consequently they have been out of rhythm throughout the series. Cleveland has continued to play their style of basketball, and Lebron James has made it his mission to step up every time the Wizards talk trash about him. They continue to irritate him, and he has stepped up the next game. Now Washington has to head to Cleveland and win to move on. It is not going to happen. The Cavaliers are one of the best home teams in all of basketball. They really feed off the energy, and the Wizards did not play well in Cleveland. Look for the Cavs to get a big playoff win and move onto the next round.
Atlanta Hawks vs. Boston Celtics (NBA) - 8:30 PM EDT Premium Pick
Pick: Total: 187.5/-105 Under Play Title: Wednesday's NBA Playoff Hidden Gem
Atlanta scored over 100 points against Boston for the first time this season on Monday night. The entire Celtics team has taken offense to their poor defensive performance in games 3 and 4. Their star players and coach have said that defense must be the first thing to improve leading into game 5. The young Hawks were able to play good at home, but I don't expect a repeat performance against a motivated Celtics team at home. I expect the Celtics to really focus on defense, and not so much on offense. I look for a physical game, focused on defense. Boston will try and play a more grinding half court game in order to slow Atlanta down. I expect this game to be well under the total.
Oakland Athletics vs. LAA Angels (MLB) - 10:05 PM EDT Premium Pick
Pick: Total: 9/-128 Under Play Title: Both pitchers will dominate
This game features two pitchers who have performed very well so far this season. Dana Eveland has been outstanding for Oakland's young pitching staff. He has an ERA of 2.48 and has allowed 1 run or less in three of his starts this year. Ervin Santana has rebounded beautifully from his horrific 2007 season. His coaches have said that he seems like a totally new pitcher this season. He has allowed 3 runs or less in every start so far, and he has gone at least 6 innings in every outing. Santana also pitches much better at home than on the road. I love to go with trends when handicapping baseball. Last night's game between these teams went well below the total. Look for the same tonight.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Florida Marlins (MLB) - 7:10 PM EDT Premium Pick
Pick: Money Line: -102 Florida Marlins Play Title: NL Top Underdog of the Week
Scott Olsen has solidfied himself as the ace of the Marlins pitching staff. His ERA is 2.06, and he has allowed 1 run total in his last 21 innings. He has really been dominate this season. Chad Billingsley has been shelled in almost every appearance this season. He has an ERA well over 6.00 and allowing 4 runs or more in three of his last four starts. Florida's bats did very well last night, despite only losing to Los Angeles by 1 run. They hit Derek Lowe alot, and I expect them to do the same tonight. Los Angeles is not a good road team to begin with, while the Marlins have played very well at home. I look for Olsen to completely dominate and Florida to score alot. Look for an easy Florida win.
Seattle Mariners vs. Cleveland Indians (MLB) - 7:05 PM EDT Premium Pick
Pick: Total: 8.5/-114 Under Play Title: AL Top Total Play
Cliff Lee has been arguably the best pitcher in the American League to start the season. His ERA of 0.28 is the best in baseball. He has not only pitched well, he has also gone deep into games. His long innings are the key to this selection, as the Indians bullpen has been very questionable this season. Jarrod Washburn has also pitched well this season. He routinely holds teams to around 3 earned runs or less in his outings, while pitching into the later innings. The Indians have struggled hitting this season, despite having a line-up that performed well last season. They have scored 4 runs or less in 7 of their last 10 games, including hitting below .200 as a team in 4 of those games. They struggled to score last night also, as they could only manage 2 runs in a 7-2 loss. Look for these pitchers to dominate and a very low scoring game.
Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants (MLB) - 3:45 PM EDT Premium Pick
Pick: Money Line: -111 San Francisco Giants Play Title: NL Early Afternoon Winner
San Francisco has played better than most people would have thought to start the season. They actually have a better overall record than the Colorado Rockies to start the season. If Barry Zito would have performed like the Giants expected, then they might be at the .500 mark. However, Jonathan Sanchez has rebounded from his poor start to the season. The Giants young pitcher has adapted well to the National League and has thrown some gems in his last few outings. His ERA is outstanding at 2.00, including a 1.06 WHIP ratio. Ubaldo Jimenez meanwhile has had a terrible season so far. His ERA is over 6.00 and has been hammered by Los Angeles and Houston in his last two outings. San Francisco hit very well last night, despite not scoring many runs. I look for them to have enough offense to beat Jimenez and the Rockies. Look for Sanchez to thrown another gem against a struggling Rockies line-up.
