BELMONT PARK Race #FOUR (2:35 PM Eastern)

(# 8) IMPRESSIONISM - She'll clear this condition sooner or later, as this will be her seventh attempt at getting win number two. She's run hard every time and draws a nice post for her stalking style.
(# 7) Cherokee Queen - Miseed in her only grass attempt, which came in her debut run at Gulfstream in late March. Followed that up with a good-looking win on the Keeneland poly surface. Filly may have some real talent.
(# 9) Party Girl - She's putting together back-to-back starts for the first time since coming here from France. Ran well in Europe whenever she was racing on a regular basis. Sharp recent work at Saratoga indicates she's approaching a "peak" race.
(# 6) Fee Fi Fo Fum - Filly has regressed over the past year after starting her career on a solid note early in 2007 at Gulfstream. May be better on the turf as her record attests to. Working well for her first in two momths.

WUNDERDOG SPORTS DAILY COMPS

MLB

Game: Florida at Atlanta (1:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: Game Total UNDER 10 -110

Atlanta has already played in 31 games where they have scored four runs or less. They also have a pitching staff that does not give up too many runs at 3.58. Their bullpen has been outstanding as well, as they have pitched to a 3.20 ERA. Tom Glavine has already pitched seven games out of 10 allowing two runs or less. Mark Hendrickson has had a couple of bad outings including a 10 earned run effort last time out, but overall he has pitched 8 of 12 allowing three runs or less. Both of these pitchers have had a bad outing or two that makes this number an attractive UNDER when looking at the entire body of work. The Marlin pen is also top 10, entering with a 3.48 ERA. UNDER gets the call here.

Larry Ness' 20* Getaway Day Total of the Month (15-8 L9 days / 1st GOM play in June)
My 20* play is on the LAA/Sea Over at 4:40 ET.

Getaway Day Total of the Month 20* LAA/Sea Over

My 20* play is on the LAA/Sea Over at 4:40 ET. The Angels' 5-4 win last night at Seattle gives the team its sixth consecutive series win since it took two of three interleague games from the Dodgers from May 16-18 (12-5 in games). The Angels go for a three-game sweep late this afternoon with Jered Weaver matching up against Carlos Silva. The Angels have had a nice winning stretch since mid-May, despite the team's overall lack of hitting. LA's five-run "outburst" last night was the first time the Angels had scored more than four runs in any of their last 14 games, since they beat the Dodgers 10-2 on May 18. However, despite tallying only 43 runs (3.07 per) in that 14-game stretch, LA has gone 10-4. The good news this afternoon is, the Angels get to face Carlos Silva. Silva is a seven-year vet who spent the last four seasons with the Twins, going a mediocre 47-45 with a 4.42 ERA. He was signed by the Mariners in the off-season and opened the '08 season pitching pretty well. He had a 2.79 ERA over his first six starts (13 ERs over 42 innings), while going 3-0 (team was 4-2). However, look what's happened since. He's only lasted a total of 27 innings in those six starts, allowing 51 hits and 33 ERs for an 11.00 ERA. Breaking it down a little further, he's gone just 10.2 innings in his last three starts, allowing 27 hits and 19 ERs for a 16.03 ERA. How can't the Angels score off of this guy? As for LA, the Angels will start Jered Weaver. Weaver last pitched on Friday night vs Toronto, allowing 10 hits and six ERs in just four innings of a 10-4 loss. He had entered that game 2-0 with a 0.89 ERA over his previous three starts but don't be fooled into thinking he's pitched well this year. Everyone remembers Weaver's rookie season ('06) when he went 11-2 with a 2.56 ERA in 19 starts (only 94 hits in 123 IP). However, while he did go 13-7 last year, his ERA was almost 1 1/2 runs higher (3.91), while his hits-to IP ratio climbed to 178-161. He's made 12 starts this year, going 4-6 (74 hits in 71 IP) and his ERA continues to climb at 4.69. He's struggled away from Anaheim all year, posting a 5.97 ERA in six road starts, including going just 5.2 innings and allowing five ERs in an 8-5 April 11 loss here in Seattle. In eight career starts vs the Mariners, Weaver's ERA is 5.06. The Seattle bats have also struggled this year but getting to Weaver will not come as a surprise here. Getaway Day Total of the Month 20* LAA/Sea Over.

Scott Spreitzer's 20* MLB **AFTERNOON** GRAND SLAM! - Wednesday
I'm laying the price with the A's on Wednesday afternoon

'm laying the price with the A's on Wednesday afternoon. Oakland is picking up steam again and they own the right matchup to gain their fourth straight victory. Detroit has been absolutely miserable in road games against righthanders, going 10-18 overall. In fact, they're a horrible 2-8 when those games are played in the light of day, scoring an average of just 2.7 runs per game. Those numbers, as bad as they are, should get even worse on Wednesday. Justin Duchscherer is as good as it gets in home starts this season. He's off to a perfect 3-0 start in front of the friendlies, sporting a 1.35 ERA, 0.65 WHIP, and a sparkling .136 BAA! This will be just his second daytime start this season, but the righty owns a lifetime afternoon ERA of 3.79, with a 1.27 WHIP in 70 appearances. Nate Robertson would love to have daytime starts written out of his contract. The southpaw has always struggled under the sun, but this season's afternoon outings have been a nightmare. He's 0-2 in three outings, allowing a whopping 14 earned runs and 29 base runners in just 15 2/3 IP! He's also 0-3 in four lifetime starts in this park, where he's been tagged for a 6+ ERA! Look for the A's to roll, taking full advantage of an incredibly low price. Oakland is my Daytime Grand Slam on Wednesday.

Philadelphia Phillies (-115)

Edinson Volquez of the Cincinnati Reds has probably been the best pitcher in the National League this season, but it is hard to pass up on the Philadelphia Phillies at this cheap price at home.

After all, the Phillies are the hottest team in the league having won eight of the last nine games overall, and they have also won seven of their last eight home games to improve to 20-12 in this stadium. Conversely, the Reds are still under .500 overall at 28-31 and they are a woeful 9-21 on the road.

Philadelphia starter Brett Myers has burned a lot of money in the early going as the Phils have tried to transform him back into a starter after he served as their closer last season. However, he looks to have finally turned the corner with two quality starts in his last three outings, and he has season highs in innings (8) and strikeouts (11) in his last start. Remember that Myers had a fine rookie season as a starter, and he was projected to be the Phillies? number two starter this season after Cole Hamels, so he should only get better as the season goes on.

Now there is no doubt that Volquez has been dominant, with a league leading 1.46 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP with an amazing 83 strikeouts in 68 innings. The problem here is that he does not figure to get much run support if Myers? last start was not a mirage, so we see a tight low-scoring game until the late innings here. Then, we feel that the pendulum will swing strongly in favor of the Phillies one the bullpens get involved, as Philadelphia now leads the Major Leagues with a 2.68 pen ERA.

This makes the Phillies one of our Bullpen System plays today, and they system went 6-2 last night and averaged +97 units the last three seasons.

Phillies -115

Toronto Blue Jays (120)

Jesse Litsch of the Toronto Blue Jays has been surprisingly effective in this starter?s role this season, while Mike Mussina of the New York Yankees has reverted back to his bad habits lately.

Litsch is a shocking 7-1 with a nice 3.18 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 65 innings overall, and he has been downright unhittable over his last three starts, with a 0.83 ERA and 0.92 WHIP! He is working on a nice streak of 16 scoreless innings over his last two appearances, and he has allowed three runs or less in six straight starts. He also pitched very well in his only career outing at Yankee Stadium last season, allowing just one run and five hits in 7.2 innings.

Mussina appeared to have gotten himself straightened out for the Yankees, but he suddenly imploded in a start vs. the Baltimore Orioles two weeks ago, and the Moose now has a 5.40 ERA with a very high 1.89 WHIP over his last three starts. Also, Toronto has now has a huge edge in the bullpen, as the Jays lead the American League with a 2.85 pen ERA while we feel that the Yankees bullpen has been severely weakened with the move of Joba Chamberlain to the starting rotation.

Finally, the Blue Jays are 9-3 in their last 12 games overall and 10-4 in their last 14 road games, and we look for them to build on both of those streaks tonight.

Blue Jays +120

Detroit Tigers (24-34) at Oakland Athletics (32-27)
(L) Nate Robertson (3-5) vs. (R) Justin Duchscherer (4-4)
The Tigers have lost six of their last nine games and have been awful away from home, just four wins in its last 17 road games. Meanwhile, the Athletics have won eight of their last 12 and have won seven of its last nine games at home.
Detroit's lefthander Nate Robertson (3-5, 5.92), is 3-3 with a 5.12 ERA in seven career starts against the Athletics.
Oakland's right-hander Justin Duchscherer (4-4, 2.27 ERA) is 2-2 with a 3.18 ERA in nine career outings against the Tigers, but will make his first career start them.

Go with the A's for a three-game sweep against the Tigers. Oakland has won six of the last 7 games against Detroit at McAfee Coliseum and has won four of Justin Duchscherer last 5 home starts. Detroit has dropped four of Nate Robertson last 5 road starts versus Oakland.
Oakland Athletics -130

30 DIMER - RAYS-RED SOX OVER
10 DIMER - HOUSTON ASTROS,
10 DIMER ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

30 DIMER - TAMPA BAY-BOSTON OVER (Jackson vs. Beckett)

I know both Edwin Jackson and Josh Beckett have pitched well for the most part this season, but Beckett's home ERA is over 5, while Jackson has allowed 7 runs over his last 11 innings of work.

Last night these teams went OVER for the 4th time in 4 games played at Fenway Park this season! 4-for-4 OVER the total in Beantown, and another is coming down the Mass. Pike tonight boys!

This is the 3rd time this year these pitchers are going against the others team, and the way the hitters have been banging the ball at Fenway this year, I will take my chances and play the OVER as my big 30 Dimer!

10 DIMER - HOUSTON ASTROS (Oswalt over Davis)

Houston erased a 5-game slide with the win last night at Pittsburgh, and I can see them garnering another win tonight with the struggling Roy Oswalt on the hill.

Oswalt is just 4-5 this year with a 5.45 ERA, but he has owned the Pirates the last couple of years, going 3-0 in his last 5 starts against them, with just 3 runs scored in 34 innings of work.

Zach Duke opposes, and he has been off this season as well, and is coming into this this one with a 2-4 season mark. He has lost his last 2 starts, and has allowed 10 runs over his last 16 innings.

Houston only won 2-0 last night, but I can see them putting up a few more tonight, while Oswalt shuts down the Pirates for the second night in a row.

10 DIMER - ST. LOUIS CARDINALS (Wellemeyer over Lannan)

Long night at the yard last night, as the Cards & Nats were held up by the rain twice.

St. Louis was able to send the Nationals to their 3rd straight loss, and I like them to do it again tonight.

The Redbirds are a perfect 4-0 in the season series versus Washington, and starter Todd Wellemeyer is now 6-1 on the season with an ERA just over 3.

Washington starter John Lannan is just 1-3 at home with an over 6 ERA, and my spidey-senses are telling me it is going to be 1-4 at home after this start.

The Cards have won 5 of their last 7, and the G-Man is backing them tonight.

again like i said earlier guys, i dont think i ever saw karl garrett have a top play for the day as an over/under play...i think hes liking this one a lot im gona pound it
