as a fellow capper, i have a good deal of respect for you because you cap based on "feel" and what you actually see and dont buy into hype or what the media try to sell on a daily basis.
but their defense is bad.
no team can win a national championship with a defense that lame.
wvu's offense? they can move the ball on anyone.
and for that reason alone, they deserve to be in the top 10. there is nothing gimmicky about their offense. its just damn good.
but ohio state would obliterate the wvu defense.
and toward the end of the season, so would a team like southern cal. wvu's defense is consistently out of position and has inexplicably given up big plays to some mediocre teams. really dont see how osu/wvu would be any different from notre dame/ohio state in last years fiesta bowl. the underdog has a potent offense, but ultimately their defense just gets manhandled.
now of course, the crux of the thread is the wvu/syracuse game. and frankly, i see this one the same way. wvu rolls. and a 40+ point win (52-7, 52-10) wouldnt be a shocker at all.
now if slaton could play cornerback (hell, i wouldnt bet against the kid having woodson-esque capabilities), schmitt could play linebacker, and white could play safety .... then wvu might stand a legit shot. otherwise, NC talk is too much.
