Ian - kinda. Ted Hawkins spent most of his life busking on the street. Astounding voice, gut-wrenching songs. Found semi-fame very late in life and then infamy when it was revealed by customs somewhere that his luggage often consisted of large stacks of porn, including kiddie porn I believe. Died shortly after this revelation; end of a tragic story...
If u do get a chance to check out the man's music, I'd recommend it, particularly an album entitled "The Next Hundred Years" released thru BMG.
