I do not recall the much about the '06 World Cup---- mainly because I was slammed with work following Hurricane Katrina. I remember vividly the '02 WC, as I was in Europe at the time. Scotland made the field that year, and the atmosphere in Edinburgh was wild opening weekend. London was wild as well, with pubs packed and ale flowing. Good times were had by all.....

Of course, we all witnessed home cooking in that world cup for the home teams. Obviously, I hope that isn't the case this year.....

Props:

Scotland did not get out of the group round, as I recall. On a side note, I also tried haggis for the first time during their opening round match. Talk about gross. I actually might have been able to stomach it had she not explained what it was:mj07:

I just checked out Scotland to see who they played in the group stage in 2002, but it appears they didn't qualify!!!

I was also in Europe during the 1998 word cup, but I was in Spain that time... Man, am I ever confused. I guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue:mj07:

It's amazing what we remember. Glad you had a good time.

I was in Nice for the 86 Cup. Saw a topless beach which is pretty much the shit when you're 15. Got dropped off in a bar so that the rest of the group could go gamble :nono: in Monaco and saw the France Semifinal loss. Men were openly weeping.

Then they won the third place match and the celebration lasted all night until 2 days later when the West Germans lost and that celebration lasted until noon the next day.

What a tournament.
