Rogers plays 4th match vs Qualifier Royg.

...Will surely feel like a home atmosphere for Rogers.

Looks like Carter scratched:

Ons Jabeur gets the "Lucky Loser" when Carter pulled out. Carter shouldn't have got the Wild Card anyway her team plays Michigan on Thursday, so if she won a round she would have had to default or fuck her team over. The tournament director/USTA/Whomever fucked up by giving her a Wild Card, they fucked over another American (whoever that was going to be) from getting their Wild Card.

Ons Jabeur is happy though, she makes an extra 2400 bucks and gets spot in Main Draw.

Thx for the info, KServ. I knew there was something weird there.

Carter surely got favorite to draw that Wildcard b/c of hometown ties to Charleston SC.

I looked at her track record and barely found a win vs a legit opponent.

OK, I'll start listing some plays (2 for Monday). Warning: don't take me too seriously. I don't know Tennis. Just doing the best I can:

ERRANI +130 (vs Gavrilova). 100 to win 130

PETKOVIC +115 (vs Arruabarrena). 100 to win 115

Good luck!

one down one to go............

Day 1 rpt:

* Petko wins. +115, on 100 risked.

A few notes:

* Weather was un-seasonal today. In past, has been very hot + humid. Overcast today. Sprinkling of light rain on occasion. Windy, up to 25mph.

* No delays when I was there. I departed b4 last match. Weather delay. Looks like Rogers match pushed back to Tuesday.

* Late news. 2-seed Konta withdraws w/ injury.

I think my Petkovic info was pretty good. She definitely got the fan support and thrived on that. Arruabarrena must have felt like the visitor, as she didn't garner much applause.

Petkovic started out slowly, was in danger of dropping 1st set. Rallied to win it, tho. Per usual, not many Aces in this women's tennis match (I think Petko wound up w/ 1-0 Ace edge). The wind made shot-making tricky. Several ball-tosses that led to averted serves.

Arruabarrena good on the movement + ball-striking. But Petko is a good 5 inches taller than her and wasn't threatened by power. Once Petko figured this out, she crippled Arruabarrena on her 2nd-serve. Petko creeped in and dominated to a hi conversion %.

After winning, she gave 2 more great interviews. Very appreciative of the fan support in Charleston, so I think that's a real factor.

I walked around to some of the other matches. A few notes:

* Jankovic dominated her over-matched opponent.

* Bondarenko advances. Rodina looked over-wt to me.

* Puig defeats Siniakova, via retirement. But Puig was about to win anyway. Puig has good legs, would not overlook her in coming rounds.

* Riske appears to be the beneficiary of Konta withdrawing. Riske now faces winner from the Puig quadrant.

Kick, Petko hit me a tennis-ball after winning the match. My life is complete.

Then she did an interview for Tennis Channel. I almost snuck into the photo backdrop. Petko took bunch of pictures w/ little girls. I'm pretty sure she thinks I'm stalking her now.

Sakkari vs DAvis
...Sakkari has played mostly ITF circuit. But she does have some nice wins in 2017.
...Davis is tiny. 5'2". She has won some matches previously in Charleston.
