1) Will try to work as correspondent. Will pass along any notes I pick up.

2) Snoopol noted that this tournament is played on a unique surface, the GREEN clay.

3) Not sure if there's a trend. But last year was a HUGE upset bracket. Cepelova knocked out Serena. Tons of upsets. Almost no big names left by the end. Cepelova/Petkovic in the final.

4) I believe the Williams Sisters play this tourney every year.

5) Snoopol, hop in the jet and get out here. We'll watch some tennis.

Enjoy buddy!!!

Are you gonna be there for all tournament???

I really recommend checking out the early rounds and less known young players. It's kind of cool. I remember when I saw Bouchard for the first time when she won junior Wimbledon.
Also saw Bencic winning junior French Open in 2013. Zverew got to juniors final same year and Coric was in the semis. Pretty amazing how quickly they became relevant on senior tours.

Thx, snoopol. Plan is to go to at least one of the first 2 days, maybe both. Should be able to watch most of the players. Then likely go back for the Final (unless one of the Williams Sisters is in it!).

I know that Petkovic is well-liked in this area. Champ last year, gives good interviews.

First days are great. From my personal experience the biggest value you can get are the quarterfinals. You see top 8 players in one day and the tickets are cheaper than semis or final.

I'll consider that, Snoop. REally looking fwd to soaking in the 1st round. Want to see the young players, etc. Not too worried about the stars.

Some recreational plays:

Scheepers (vs Petkovic)

* +400. 50 to win 200.
* +1.5 sets (+120). 100 to win 120.

Petkovic is defending champ and very well-liked at this tournament. And she played well in Miami. Just think she's a little overpriced, at the moment.

Good luck!

Petkovic looked pretty fine, very toned. Her game, not so much in 1st set. Petko is 2 inches taller than Scheepers, w/ much more power. Scheepers returned almost everything, and Petko had several mishits. Petko was frustrated w/ the linesmen. Twice she spiked her racket. Once, she stood on the racket, I think trying to stretch the strings. Scheepers won 1st set easily.

Post-match, Petko said that she was playing hard-court style in 1st set. She went to the whip in 2nd set. All downhill for Scheepers after that. Scheepers has a curious habit of throwing bad ball-tosses and saying "Sorry" when she lets ball fall. Must have done that 12x during match.

Petko wins, 2 sets to 1. But she'll have to be sharper to repeat.

FWIW, saw that Petko is playing w/ Erakonic in Doubles. Something I didn't know, Martina Hingis still competes in doubles.

One play for Wed 4/8:

S SORRIBES TORMO (vs Rogers) +150. 100 to win 150.

...Sniffed out one dog that I like. Rogers was competing on lower tour recently, on the rise.

Sorribes Tormo won two matches here, then advanced via injury. Think we have value odds here.

Will try one more dog:

* Cepelova +1.5 sets (+140) (vs Errani)

...I know she hasn't been too good this year. Did win yesterday. And she was a finalist at this tournament last year! Sprung several upsets last year. Maybe in her comfort area.
