Are you gonna stick around till the end of the tournament??

To answer your question different bookies have different rules regarding the retirements. For some all that needs to happen is one ball in play, others 1st set must be completed or there are firms where whole match has to be completed.

When it comes to betting on handicaps there was a time when I was betting semi middles. Let's say you don't really have a strong opinion on the match but want to place a wager anyways. You can bet Errani -5.5 at one place and then buy half of the game at another place and back Spanish chick +6. There's a good chance of winning one and pushing the other. It does not work that well on ATP since half of the game is much more expensive.

Snoopol, think I'll attend at least one more day. Maybe Friday, if the matchups look ok.

Play for Friday 4/10:

* hradecka +230 (vs Errani). 100 to win 230.

...My logic here is that Errani is small and just not that overpowering. Hradecka just beat a solid player, Garcia. Should offer dog value here.

Friday summary:

* Keys was pretty impressive in running past Davis. Keys hammered shots into the corner. Davis is tiny, I don't know how she beat Bouchard.

* I mentioned Errani's lack of serve power. Once Hradecka timed Errani's 2nd serve, it was like putting the ball on a tee. Hradecka was creeping in so close. Errani can run all day, but she's only 5'4". Add Hradecka to my list of "live dogs" in coming weeks. I was impressed. Big win for her, too - she let out a shriek when she won.

* Kovinic and Petrovic would have been country-women in the pre-dissolved Yugoslavia. Kovinic, 7 years younger, mentioned pre-match that she looked up to Petko as a little girl.

Very impressed by Kovinic shot-making ability in 1st set. Petkovic again lost her mind in 1st set and spiked her racket. From 2nd set on, Kovinic had to feel like she was playing vs the world. I mentioned that Petko is defending champ here and she again got lots of support to spur on the rally.

Post-match, Petkovic mentioned how many matches she's played in a short period of time. This is true. She's advanced deep into the Doubles bracket as well. She's very vulnerable to a loss. If u don't want to fade her in Singles, maybe look to fade her in Doubles.

Not really. Better to be lucky than good.

Was actually dreading my Hradecka bet after I read about Errani being a "clay court specialist." Glad it played out well, tho.

If I see something good, I'll list it. But likely done for the tourney picks.

* One other note, while I think about it. Have to believe there are spots where Situational Handicapping can be good, especially w/ info from tourney sites. Mid-week, Rogers lost to Sorribes-Tormo in the heat and looked winded in doing so. Two hours later, Rogers/Riske played Petkovic/Erakovic in doubles. No surprise that Pet/Erak won that won pretty easily.

Good luck, boys.

Did you stick around for doubles to watch Martina?

No, sir. I didn't. The way they work it is one price for Daytime card.

Then, they clear stadium and another Fee for nite session, which is normally a top Singles m/u plus one Doubles m/up (which was Martina's match).

Yeah they do it at pretty much all places. Just want your money.

Re: match today, opinion is Kerber or Pass. Think the line value is slanted to Kerber.

I've mentioned several times that Petko will get "home support" here. She's well-spoken, does very well in interviews. The fan support will go in that direction. So, I don't necessarily want to bet into that.

I was right about Kerber, she wins 1st set. Realistically, this line should have been closer to pk-em.

But Petko has dropped 1st set multiple times this tourney, only to rally. See if the crowd lifts her up again.

FYI, Erakovic M. / Petkovic A. is a Fav again tonite in Doubles.
