Mr Biden has given the go ahead for American long range missiles to be fired into Russia after Putin said he would consider that an act of war by the USA

Putin said he would invade if we pressed on with adding Ukraine NATO. we pressed forward, and he invaded. I see no reason not to believe this guy.now.

In 2020 Zelenskyy approved Ukraine's new National Security Strategy, providing for the development of q partnership with NATO with the aim of membership in NATO.

In early 2022 Reuters, and all other major global outlets, reported Putin threatened war if nato continued down the path of adding Ukraine to NATO. At the time, Germany and the United States were in lockstep according to this article that they would continue despite the warnings. I think France had the better idea to try to work with Putin. Allow Russia to annex some Ukrainian territory, and continue to work towards allowing Ukraine into nato. Of course, Germany and the USA are far more powerful than France, and certainly stronger voices in NATO. We went with the USA/German plan of all stick and no carrot whatsoever. Putin, who is a top 3 asshole on the planet, invaded weeks later.
