Not one of the women did anything to stand out last night, I don't think. I didn't care for much of what I saw, and thought there were some poor efforts. I agree, BDB, that Kady Malloy was not good, and she's running out of time. I did again like Carly's performance - don't like her, but think she can really sing. I was impressed with Epperson, although the song was too big for her and exposed her shortcomings a bit. Nothing really changed for me, and look forward to 80's week, when some of the choices and talent should separate.

No chance imo that Robbie was at the bottom....that was the producers running him off over the wig flap....

And how on earth does biker chic survive? Some very odd results tonight...

I'm not surprised at all by the results. Robbie could easily have been in the bottom imo.

The rocker chick stayed for one reason and one reason only. And every other contestant is too stupid to figure it out and its been 7 seasons already. Before the top 12, all you have to do is sing a popular song or a song that people have heard of. You don't even have to sing it well, because the band covers up most of it.

The Kansas song is totally recognizable. What did the two girls who got kicked of sing? Garbage...try and remember without looking it up and none of the songs are popular.

To make the top 12, just sing popular songs. Its that simple.

Anyway, gl and I'm glad the posers gone. Definitely glad Yeager is gone. Could care less about Alexandra Whitaker and thought the other blonde should have gone between the 2.

BDB it may not be your taste but both of them sang #1 songs, and Alaina's song I would venture is more well known than the Kansas song. In fact I am confident it is a bigger all time hit than any song sung last night. Garbage...sure...but that explanation doesnt fly imo.

As for Robbie its just like that tramp girl last year...producers conveniently decided she had to go...I can at least imagine some people voting for him - and by your chic rationale a whole lot mor epeople will know/remember Hot Blooded than a Queen song that in the US was an album cut and sung by a guy whose name I barely remember and I actually follow this shit.

we can agree to disagree. I looked it up. Olvia Newton Johns song hit number 3, the Kansas song number 11 in the US.

I'm a pretty good conossiuer (sp?) of music, but you are right Olivia Newton John ain't my cup of tea. I guess if you go by the major demographic of Idol which is 16-35, the Kansas song is way more welll known. It is on one of the Guitar Heros tracks at least.

I guess you have a point and I'll clarify that any time the band is involved and the song is uptempo they can cover a bad perfromance and let you get by because all viewers want to just enjoy a song they haven't heard in a while.

Just a theory.

Anyway, gl and go A'siah. And Sun, it sounds as if you are warming to Danny. I'll convert you yet.....

as for your other point, unless you are the star of the show or a fantastic singer, guy shouldn't sing songs of girl singers unless your name is Danny and vice versa....it rarely if ever works.

Artuletta can sing anything he wants to. He has a big voice and isn't too big for his shoes. He will take advice and do what needs to be done to be a winner. You want to know what he will sing???????/

POP!

All pop is,,,,,,,is record execs dressing up and making up somebody that will sell records that they choose from professional song writers. Do you think that when Britney Spears was on top of the charts she made any of her own decisions as to what to sing or record? Absolutely not! Nor will he. He has a great smile and an even greater attitude. He's a record company's wet dream.

He will win this thing, and if he doesn't, it won't matter. He will take the Daughtry route and be signed by somebody that knows more than the American public, and sell tons of records.

The kid is likable and marketable and that's all that matters in music these days. He doesn't have to sing hip hop, because there isn't anybody with any real talent in hip hop anyway. It's one dimensional music. Computer generated trash music with a dance beat and nursery rhymes recorded over them............

He will be a winner whether he wins on American Idol or not. One thing for sure,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,he is not CLay Aiken or Ruben Studdard.

He's got a decent shot to win it, but at even money to win it right now, its a joke after two performances. I'm gonna let whomever keep betting him up before next week and take the field at pinny at -110 for the max. And Keyser, it definitely does matter if he wins the thing. At least for the purpose of this thread, its a wagering on American Idol thread. As to your point, it would do his career a million times better if he lost and signed a contract with Disney and went on tour with Hannah Montana. And yes, I'm serious just like it did Daughtry the best.

I agree he's likeable, but disagree 100 percent he's marketable. I understand what pop is, but its also an attitude and a believability. Hot chicks can get away with it because they look good and can move. I doubt he can dance. I have no idea what kind of genre of music he would sing, but you can't just say pop. His best bet is to go to Disney and let the Jonas Bros people like Vinnie said get a hold of him. Theres not a male over 20 whos going to buy an album of his, so that's a ridiculous segment of the population he has to overcome.

As for hip hop and such I agree there isn't all that much talent, but again you are missing the point. They sell albums and tons of them. And that is the demographic that is least downloaded by piracy. You can draw your own conclusions why. But the do sell albums. And of course he shouldn't nor should any american idol sing hip hop, but at least dance or something catchy. I can't imagine him doing anything like that.

He's talented and I own shares in him which have already gone up 250% since I bought him, but to say he is even money over the field all 15 other contestants after two performances is silly.

Agree to disagree again I gues.....gl

BDB,
Just curious how you got a setup at pinny? Sure would be nice to get some of those props -- nothing at 5d and dsi as of yet. Thanks...

without getting into any detail whatsoever on a public message board, I can email or call a friend of mine who is allowed to use pinnacle if that makes sense.

crystal. thanks.

still like asia'h at 6? I think she's a nice little darkhorse right here. I don't think there's any point in hanging on to Michael Johns. Hey may well go deep, but I think he's only going to lose value. I don't think he can win. It makes me sick that they're gonna pimp carly into the top 5. IMO, top 5 are probably Carly, Archuleta, Johns, Asia'h and the little filipino.

I actually think your top 5 is pretty spot on. I thought Danny would go deeper at first, cause his voice is great. He'll have some good performances left in him yet. Asiah wasn't great last night, but the producers do want her to go pretty far. They gave her the best spot last night, and I noticed tonight when they did the girls recaps of last nights shows, they ended with her high note and only showed the clips of randy and paula saying she did well. Not Simons critique. And she was sick last night, they said she had a mask on all weekend. I bought her at 6 and still thinks she goes deep and if she gets to 4 or 5 she has to go at least double. Archuletta will have peaked by then so the others have to go up some. I don't think you will lose much with her at 6 and shes gonna get to top 8 at least and imo much higher.

Also. I agree with you that it is completely absurd that you have to lay juice with archuleta now. Final 16. Wow. I'm thinking first couple weeks of the final 12 I will probably get impatient and sell him, and as you say, the value of others will increase.

That being said... by zabasearch's stats they said he had the amount of votes EQUAL to everyone else. That's pretty sick. And dialidol had him as the only one safe.

I kinda wish the poser had ripped off his wig after butchering that foreigner song.

Thanks for your input.

Tonight the boys sing live unlike the previous two weeks. Tomorrow the girls sing live unlike the previous two weeks. There are lots of fake spoiler lists on the net, and I don't believe any of them with certainty. Not like it matters. The only thing that seems pretty constant in all of them is that Danny Noriega sings tainted love tonight. I think Sun Tzu will be in heaven if he breaks out the body gyrations during the song.

Sold David Archuleta today at 52. Bought 20 shares at 20. I think hes at his peak now unless he wins which i don't think he will.

I'm very disappointed in all the books this year. Its getting harder and harder to make money at this and soon won't be worth my time. There are no last longers yet at any book, and only the first week they offered elmination props. None last week. Its a joke. Hopefully when they get to 12 some lines open up.

Anyway, heres my updated portfolio for the 2 of you who care:

Eliminations: 2-0 + $650
Market: + $640 selling David at 52

100 Asia buy at 6
30 Johns buy at 20
80 Noriega buy at 3
30 Ramiele buy at 9

Tonight and tomorrow is the most important for all their careers. These are the two nights where the contestants can actually profit from this. If they make the top 12, they make the tour and get paid. If they get eliminated, they get whatever their agents can get them with their brief publicity.

If I had to guess for the guys, the ones in serious trouble tonight are Luke, Chikezie, and David Hernandez.

For the girls tomorrow, I think Kristy Lee Cook, and Brooke White are in the most trouble.

All of these are guesses without seeing any of them.

Adding from Pinny:
David Archuleta will NOT win AI7 + 101 x 8

BDB, any teasers on what David Cook will sing tonight? Thinking that something cool from the 80's would really establish him as a player. I loved his song last week, and think he could take on the Daughtry role this year, unless I'm completely overvaluing his talent.

I think he would be the sleeper in all this, if he can get a little stronger personality-wise down the road.

I like David myself, but again, I'm more biased to that type of music. As for a sleeper, I can see him getting to maybe top 7 or 8. I have him at a 0% chance of winning. Chris was the best "rocker" the show has had and he didn't win, I don't think Cook is even in his league, but that's just me. He needs a major makeover and like you said a lot more personality.

As for the songs over the next two nights, its being reported that the following songs were re-arranged by the band, the only problem is that they aren't saying who sang what. I'm almost certain thought that Danny is singing tainted love and dedicating it to his Texas fan base. (love ya sun):

* Everytime You Go Away - Paul Young
* What About Love - Heart
* Tainted Love - Soft Cell
* The Greatest Love of All - Whitney Houston
* Father Figure - George Michael
* Open Arms - Journey
* Rebel Yell - Billy Idol
* The Rose - Bette Midler
* Bette Davis Eyes - Kim Carnes
* Celebration - Kool and the Gang
* Call Me - Blondie
* Always Something There to Remind Me - Naked Eyes
* Whats Love Got to Do With It - Tina Turner
* Hurts So Good - John Cougar Mellencamp
* We Built This City - Jefferson Starship
* Every Breath You Take - The Police

I'll take a guess though at who I think is doing what (just guesses and we can see how wrong I am):

* Everytime You Go Away - Brooke
* What About Love - Amanda
* Tainted Love - Danny Noriega
* The Greatest Love of All - Syesha
* Father Figure - Luke Menard
* Open Arms - David Archuleta
* Rebel Yell - Michael Johns
* The Rose - Kady Malloy
* Bette Davis Eyes - Carly
* Celebration - Chikeze
* Call Me - Ramiele
* Always Something There to Remind Me - who cares
* Whats Love Got to Do With It - A'sia
* Hurts So Good - David Cook
* We Built This City - are you serious..? whoever does this should be shot
* Every Breath You Take - Jason Castro

Just guesses again, but just as I'm pretty positive that Danny is singing Soft Cell, I'd be willing to bet alot that Archuleta does the Journey thing.
