I dunno, BDB, I am enjoying this year more. I agree the theme thing is getting tired - but like this night, there are a lot of songs to pick from. I think this separates the troops a bit, people with a smart sense of themselves and what they can do with an arrangement. I did a little homework (bored a bit today) and came up with these possibles - from top Billboard Charts, and digging deeper on those that I couldn't match up at all. Of course, it would depend on what songs Idol has approval to do, too. How about these randome guesses/possibilities? See if I hit any.
Brooke White (1983) Total Eclipse Of The Heart - Bonnie Tyler, Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) - Eurythmics
David Archuleta (1990) How Am I Supposed To Live Without You - Michael Bolton, Blaze Of Glory - Jon Bon Jovi, Ice Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice (Had to imagine him doing this one...lol., Epic - Faith No More...(Just Kidding, I love this song.)
Carly Smithson (1983) Total Eclipse Of The Heart - Bonnie Tyler, Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) - Eurythmics
David Cook (1982) Hurts So Good - John Cougar, Eye Of The Tiger - Survivor, Who Can It Be Now? - Men at Work, (Oh) Pretty Woman - Van Halen
Ramiele Malubay (1987) La Bamba - Los Lobos, (I Just) Died In Your Arms - Cutting Crew, Lean On Me - Club Nouveau
Chikezie (1985) Careless Whisper - Wham!, The Power Of Love - Huey Lewis & The News, Heaven - Bryan Adams
Syesha Mercado (1987) Didn't We Almost Have It All - Whitney Houston, Always - Atlantic Starr, At This Moment - Billy Vera & The Beaters
Jason Castro (1987) With Or Without You - U2, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - U2, Faith - George Michael
Kristy Lee Cook (1984) Footloose - Kenny Loggins, Let's Hear It For The Boy - Deniece Williams, The Warrior, Scandal
Michael Johns (1978) Reminiscing - Little River Band, Dust In The Wind - Kansas, We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You - Queen, I Go Crazy - Paul Davis
Of all of these scenarios, I think Jason Castro has some great songs to match up with his style (accoustic U-2 would be cool). I think Kristy Cook could play with the Footloose songs and have an impact. Michael Johns could do some good with strong vocals on some good songs.
And of course, would like to see Archuleta power rap to Faith No More or dance fever it with Vanilla Ice...:mj07:
Here's a prediction - Castro will do U2, and stand out tonight. I could also see Chikeze doing a fun jump around version of "The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis. That could rekindle the fun performance of a couple weeks ago.
Okay, that's way too much time and effort for these kids. Later.
