Nate and Nick are totally different fighters. Nate is worthless on his feet, and fighting a weight class above where he should be.
No doubt Nick is a much better fighter, but their styles are the exact same.
Nate was getting wrestlefocked at lightweight also  I got the feeling he moved up because the UFC was going to fast track him to a title shot. After DHK beat him he called out GSP and Rogan was just like, yeah....no.
GSP is gonna have to take Nick down and lay on him for 5 rounds because there's no way he wins keeping it on the feet. However, the greatest of great champions always win beating guys at their opponents game. One reason why I've loved guys like Anderson and Shogun. They're exciting fighters who look to finish the fight anywhere.
I think Nick's striking is a little overrated. He has no leg kicks and his only real advantage comes when he gets on the inside. He tries to get inside on everyone he fights and has to take big risks to do so. He couldn't get inside vs. Santos and ate all kinds of leg kicks as a result.
So even when they are on their feet he would have to get inside on GSP, who has a longer reach and the best jab in MMA. Not to mention the fact that Diaz would have to be constantly aware of the takedown when close.
One of Nick's tactics is to try and taunt his opponent and turn the fight into a brawl, but i doubt that will work on GSP.
Nick has amazing cardio and can cause his opponent to gas by overwhelming him, but GSP's cardio is world class.
Plus, GSP is training boxing with freddie roach right now in preparation
I don't think Nick has much chance at all, standing or on the ground. The only way I see him winning is by a submission from his back, or if he can pull off a three stooges style eye poke that goes unoticed.
BTW, if Anderson beat people at their own game then why didn't he BJJ it Maia  I'm not trying to nut hug GSP here (although it may seem like it, lol)
