Beware: The new ATMs

Yesterday afternoon I pulled $1500 out of my account at the bank for this weekend with thoughts of needing a bank roll for the weekend festivities.

Obviously, I forgot I was married. After my wife reminded me with a power point presentation filled with expletives about how marriage works, I caved in and went to redeposit $600 of the $1500.

The Situation

Wearing only running shorts and a shirt, I pulled up to the outside ATM to find it being serviced.

So, not wanting to stand in line at the bank I went inside to the ATM where you can now make cash deposits into the ATMs.

Pretty neat right??

Well, the ATM choked on the 6 100 bill I inserted after scanning only 2 of them. I quickly called over the bank manager and he took note that 2 had been scanned while it was hung. Moments later, it goes to an out of order status.

No Check card, No receipt of deposit, and no $600 in the bank.

No worries right? The bank manager saw it?

WRONG! I go in this morning to ask why the deposit hadn't come through. CASH DEPOSIT! And he informs me that all Wachovia ATMs are serviced by a third party and I wouldn't receive my funds until after the 3rd party VERIFIED my money was actually in the ATM!

5-7 business days, no check card, no proof of my deposit!!!

Shit out of luck!

My advice to you, DO NOT USE THE NEW ATMs but go inside to deposit money!

similar thing happend to me (ATM issue, not wife doing the power-point presentation) at Chase and they had it resolved within 24 hours.

I whole heartedly trust ATMs, but I'm not sure if I have ever deposited cash in one.

I have not walked into a bank since signing a loan about 6-7 years ago.

Wow! Fedex just dropped off my new Check card...

This happened at about 3 pm yesterday so very exciting to see the replacement this fast... :0074

I'm with you Jack. I used ATMs when I lived in NY because the bank lines were way too long & the banks usually had 1 teller during the busy times. Since living in AZ, I have never used them.

So I walk into the Wachovia (around the corner) and into the branch manage's office.

You almost had my faith restored, a new check card in less than 24 hours! I say, handing him the Fed ex envelope with the check card inside.

Opening it, he sees the name on the card and says well, there's no way this is right because I did it myself and I do not make simple mistakes like this...

I asked how deep a hole was he was going to dig himself...

Woody, I have had one for years without my wife knowing about it. I've made sure that she wll find the bank info in case something happenes to me.
