I really enjoyed how everything was tailored to the time period...vernacular, costumes, music, etc. Looks like it's going to be an enjoyable show. I especially liked how they added a lot of other true events (capone/colosimo).

Pretty cool they stuck to Nucky's real life character. Read this wikipedia bio after you watch it:

Yep decent 1st episode.....the only problem I have is that for every HBO show people cum in their pants. If I hear one more time how good Sopranos was I will go into a Burger King with an oozie and.......ok well not that bad, but you get the idea.

People have selected memories, there were a bunch of Sopranos episodes that were horrid. Yet everybody always ejaculates about how good it was. It was a good show but not amazing.

There was a show on HBO called OZ that was 100 times better then Sopranos.

B.E. looks good and I'll be watching. I hope we don't see a bunch of characters walking to the beach and talking to fish. I remember some Soprano characters doing that:facepalm:

I know most will find this hard to believe since I watch just about every show imaginable, but I have yet to see a single episode of Sopranos and really don't plan on seeing it.

As for episode 1 of Boardwalk Empire, it was a nice start.
I mean how can you go wrong with a show that brings back the wide bush and has midget boxing?

Nice start. They seem to have set in up for whats coming.
OZ was a good hard core show.

"the bunker"
i honestly struggled through it...the first 45 minutes was downright painful....

picked up a little toward the end...

i`ll watch one more episode...hopefully it`ll grab me...

i guess i was expecting too much...

the sopranos was character driven...the casting was the best i`ve ever seen in any show....and gandolfini as the focal point was just amazing...as was ian mcshane in deadwood...

yes, some shows were less than stellar...but you were hooked by the characters...you wanted to know what happened next....

i like steve buscemi....not sure i like him in this...not sure he fits here....

and they have to lose that italian manservant guy "coming into the room at inopportune moments" schtick.....thats pretty much worn thin already...

not saying boardwalk was bad....i think it`ll get better...

I fucking hate episodic shows (Sopranos ran dry for me the third episode)

TV these days is fucking ridiculous. That breaking bad and Sons of Anarchy shit is terrible. The acting isn't all that great - although some of you claim it is .....Vomit. Can't say much for the story line as I have only seen one episode of each. Makes me wonder if any of you guys never send back an overcooked steak because you're OK with mediocrity.

All that being said - I watched Boardwalk Empire and thought it was brilliant and perfect. Loved it! Can't wait for the next episode. Hopefully this thing has legs and the story line prevails over other sad episodic shows.

I was kind of disappointed. Like others said the first 45 minutes was not so good. But they were setting things up. Not a fan of the wide bush! I am willing to give it another chance though. I think it will get better. But then again I thought the Patriots would beat the Jets.

what for free ? :142smilie ur like the king of tv :0008

I have no idea what paying for tv is like. I have not done that in 10+ years.
IKS is free to all smart enough to use it.

Dana White is coming over to watch the UFC card for free with me this weekend.

If you can't get into Breaking Bad then I have no idea how you can get into Boardwalk Empire. It was like racing a Ferrari versus a Pinto after what I took out of episode 1 of Boradwalk.

Makes me wonder if any of you guys never send back an overcooked steak because you're OK with mediocrity.
I never have because I prefer my steak overcooked as opposed to snot or spit in it.

I think that broken ankle is getting to your head. Kickserv should be banned 4 days for this comment. :nono: Oz was a very good show, but I don't think it tops The Sopranos. And I do think HBO puts out better series than most other channels. Deadwood, Rome, Oz, The Sopranos, etc., are all very good shows, IMO. What does Showtime have? Weeds? That show is God awful. :sadwave:

And FWIW, I think The Wire is the best HBO series ever. But that's just one American's opinion. ;)

OZ was 100 times better then the Sopranos. Just making the point that so many people blow their load when they talk about Sopranos.

Although I must say, any show with a naked dead girl from 1920 with a hairy bush no less, has potential.

Of course if Boardwalk Empire took place in OZ, that girl would have been fucked by Simon Adebisi. Dead or not, he would have been "on that".
