Looks like the lines on the relevant fights are already out. Not a great schedule.

Yep.
I keep waiting for this year to pick up, but 3 weeks into January and things are still looking pretty sparse.

How can you call it a slow week when Javier Mora is taking on Charles Shufford?

Some schedule changes according to Boxrec. Maybe your schedule is more up to date, no se...

First, and to my grave disappointment, it appears that Mora is no longer fighting Shufford. F it all!#@%*

In a fight that probably won't be offered, this Lundy kid is now fighting Richard Abril, who lost a close one to B.Prescott.

According to Boxrec, other potential bettable fights:

Th LA Rios vs. C. Melo A rematch of a recent close fight. I think Rios was 11 to 1. Closer this time.

Oliver McCall vs. Victor Bisbal. Bisbal appears to have some skill, but man is he a dough boy.

P.Singwancha vs. D.Laurente. I'd like to see odds on this one.

Any word on the status of these fights would be appreciated.

I saw the Lopez-Mtagwa fight punch by punch, I know how it went down, but still...I'm at a loss as to how it could have happened. Lopez had been SO dominant against a much higher standard of opposition. Mtagwa, while a tough win some lose some club fighter, had struggled against journeyman types.

So, how was Mtagwa able to elevate his game to such a higher level? Could he reproduce such a performance? Was Lopez weight-drained or exposed?

Both guys in action this weekend, so I'd like to hear some thoughts.

Berto is out, Haiti tragedy too distracting
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/spo...orces-andre-berto-to-withdraw-from-fight.html

I can't blame Andre Berto for this.

Mosley-Mayweather appears to be next.

Cant blame the guy 1 iote. In fact I thought the whole thing would have a very negative impact on him to the degree he probably shouldn't be fighting. The incoming news and pics of Haiti is pretty depressing stuff. Props to Chad Dawson for getting a relief fund going and imploring those in the fight business to match his 5 k donation.

I thought the Lopez/Mtagwa fight was going to be such a mismatch, I didn't blink an eye wagering big dough on very wide odds. Fortunately I missed the live footage and caught the result after the fact. Seeing Lopez virtually out on his feet would have probably given me a coronary. I think the only logical explanation was being weight drained and perhaps a bit over confident. The extra wt should do him well. I took Gamboa before the odds went crazy and I'm not really nervous about the same thing occurring. I think Gamboa romps and I'll be surprised if Mtagwa goes the dst. Of course I did say just a week or so ago I've been fooled more than once by the heart and dedication of fighters and have lost big because of it.

How do you guys see Lopez/Lueveno playing out? I like Lopez but some bettors apparently like Luev because the odds have moved on a few sites.

Khan vs. Maidana on the Hopkins-Jones undercard!

I wouldn't be surprised if this changes, but it looks like they're making an effort to beef this PPV event up...and for good reason.

You think Gamboa will get him out of there? I actually wagered on the under by mistake - meant to go with another fight. :sadwave: First time I ever did that, nothing too big but still. They won't refund my wager, so I'm trying to decide whether to scalp it away or stick with it... What do you think?

Lopez-Luevano. I'm still goin' over some things, but I feel like I'm seein' this one pretty clearly, same as you me thinks...will get back to you in more detail.

I was surprised as well that Mtagwa gave Lopez so much trouble! He didnt really look like anything special, but Lopez barley made it....

Based on that fight, I have some doubts that Gamboa gets him out of there...

As for Luevana vs. Lopez
Prior to the Mtagwa fight I would have picked Lopez without too many reservations. I still think he gets it done but Luevano might give him some fits.

Although in the works, I just read on Fightnews that Mayweather-Mosley will probably not happen on March 13th, because Floyd had set that date to fight a 'lesser opponent'.

A lesser opponent like who, Manny Pacquiao??

I believe Gamboa will get Mtagwa out of there. Mtagwa was life and death v Tomas Villa who you can hardly say is world class. Mtagwa was nearly out b4 pulling a ko out of his arse. Mtagwa also lost every rd to Billy Dib of all people. IMO Gamboa is the real deal. He has some flaws that have cost him a few flash kds but I don't think he's been hurt bad. I saw him live v D Jimenez and I was highly impressed. He got ripped by the media for not stopping the guy and getting dropped but he utterly dominated a pretty damn good fighter, especially for that early stage in his career. I think Gamboa will win every rd enroute to a 7-8th rd stoppage. Just my .02. Good luck!

Johnson/Mack is off as well   . That was an excellent matchup. Hopefully HBO just delays this card and doesn't scrap it altogether. Of course you know Money isn't going to take on Shane on short notice.
