Johnson/Mack is off as well   . That was an excellent matchup. Hopefully HBO just delays this card and doesn't scrap it altogether. Of course you know Money isn't going to take on Shane on short notice.

Yeah, Johnson v Mack was a good match. I was heading out to this card for some R&R but they scrapped the whole ball of wax. Bummer it had to happen but I certainly understand Berto's decision as he has more on his mind than most could imagine. Still, I thought the undercard was good enough to go forward with but...

My plays so far...

My plays so far...

Lopez vs. Luevano Under 9.5 +125 - Large (pick made 1/15/10)
First, let me say I watched more fight film than most fights on this one (~3hrs). Luevano hasn't fought a lot of southpaws. Luevano's defence is set up to protect from a orthodox's power right hand. When he single or double jabs, he brings his right hand back slow and never to his chin always to his body. This leaves him wide open for Lopez's power left hand to the chin. Also, Luevano does not take body shots well and Lopez throws some nasty ones. Another thing to consider is that Luevano has been knocked down in 3 of his last 4 fights (yes the last fight was an after the bell knockdown). Also, Lopez is at 126 now which should give him more stamina. Lopez gets him out in rounds 7-9.

Gamboa wins inside distance -200 - Medium
Mtagwa is easy to hit and willing to come forward and brawl. In his last fight, he demonstrated his amazing recuperative powers after being hurt time and time again. The difference in this fight is Gamboa has the fastest hands in the division and he can hurt Mtagwa without giving him time to recover. Also, he can hurt Mtagwa and flurry punches and have the referee stop the fight or Mtagwa's corner could stop it. All of which I could see happening. This one is over in 9-12.

I am looking for a line on the McCall fight and the Paul Wolak fight. Let me know if you guys find one.

Good Luck Guys! :box2:

hmmm, I dont really know what to do this week...

There are some question marks about Lopez...his last performance was very poor, he's moving up in weight, and Luevana is a survivor who will give almost anybody fits...

I agree the chances that he gets caught at one point arent bad, but still.....

Gamboa is fast, but Mtagwa looked VERY tough in his last fight, I really wonder how Villa came so close to knocking him out, and he's probably not half the fighter Lopez is...

Actually, this might not be a bad stylistci matchup for Mtagwa, as Gamboa is there to be hit and goes down rather easily (not that he is hurt easiyl though)...

Excellent insight!

Agreed! I'm going to lay off the Lopez fight but I think Matt is spot on for both fights. I have Gamboa to finish a parlay, straight up, and Gamboa ITD. If Matagwa can finish the fight, I'll be surprised. If he can pull off the upset then I'll be more than shocked. Mtagwa will not be able to deal with that speed. Good Luck!

Why nobody betting on Ian Napa at - 240 ? :0corn
I hear he is pretty talented but lacks power , still his opponent doesn't seem like anything special .

http://www.boxingnews24.com/2009/12...h-bantamweight-title-against-jamie-mcdonnell/

I did. Took him @ -238. I liked those odds but it's not a safe bet at all. Guy he is fighting is much taller than him and his last loss was controversial. Napa cost me last time against the Frenchmen but is supposed to be well prepared this time.

I like all favs this weekend (Gamboa, Lopez and Viloria) and I am feeling OVER in all 3.

Anyway Brain, what are you doing here? Concentrate on your AusieOpen plays for tonight :) And BTW thanks for posting them little earlier last night.

I agree 5 million percent with matt.

Hard to take the chalk at those prices, but I think I found a way to play it.

BREAKDOWN:

Luevano has done a ton with what he has. All credit to him, and I love him for beating Billy Dib's ass (one of the biggest pricks in the sport). But Stevie is in over his head this weekend.
Despite his life and death struggle with Mtagwa, I came away MORE impressed with Juan Ma last year. He showed incredible heart and skill in a fight where Mtagwa fought OUT OF HIS MIND. A fighter can learn a lot the first time he is pushed to the brink. I expect to see a refreshed, re-invigorated Juan Ma come in healthy at 126 and smash Luevano HARD.

Gamboa fight comes down to speed and size. Gamboa, at his best, is spectacular. I lost a ton of money betting on Juan Ma ITD against the terminator Mtagwa. But I am gonna get it all back here. I can't imagine that performance can be reproduced. Mtagwa will fight till the end, but if Villa can rock him, Gamboa surely can. Mtagwa is too small and too hittable. The Cuban ITD mid rounds.

Remember, Top Rank wants to put Gamboa in against Lopez next time. They want both these guys to look spectacular, and I think thats what they are going to get. Arum usually gets these "building toward a PPV" fights right.

BET:
The risk here is that Gamboa doesn't get Rogers out of there and starts to fuck around (he has done this more than once). But I think he realizes the importance of this bout - this sets up his entire future. The price is steep, not only on the fight, but on the ITD prop. I am gonna play it like this:

MY ONE PLAY:

PARLAY
Juan Ma Lopez STRAIGHT
to
Gamboa ITD prop

I also have a few tennis parlays going (thanks Brain) with Gamboa and Juan Ma attached. They both win STRAIGHT and its a good weekend for me.

Good luck crew.

"One thing that is a little troublesome is the rumor that Gamboa missed today's press conference in New York because he was having trouble making weight. His camp says he's just delaying facing the New York cold, but it's something to keep in mind."

DON'T F THIS UP GAMBOA !!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty much Mtagwas ONLY chance is to fight a weight drained Gamboa. Let's hope it's just a rumor.

Sylvester-Navascues is off. Every fuckin fight where I decided to play early gets cancelled. I have more money hooked on fights that's not going to happen than free money to make bets.
Sylvester, Holy, Ward and Mosley. FUCK!!

Cleverly fight is off next week as well
The Italian needs more time...fight pushed back a few weeks

this is just getting ridiculous

How do people like Beibut Shu? I liked the plus odds....but are now moving. Many had him winning the VERY close 1st fight. I didn't see the fight but looks like he simply faded against a guy that has a ton of heart but doesn't really have a load of talent. Shu dominated the early going. I think the Kazak fighter comes in better prepared this time. I took the plus odds while they lasted.

I have no idea who wins this fight. There is no footage of the first fight. I thought if Shu wins he probably wins on home turf with 15k supporters behind him. Guy has a stamina problems and I noticed that stamina problems never go away. Fight is in Vegas which is Shu adopted home. Campillo is unimpressive but solid and I think he should be slight fav. In the end I took +120 for mere 1u as it seems little off.
